They process them as they received, ie someone might have their application in on Friday but then they did not manage to issue them a NOA till next Monday but that person's application will come first before someone that has their application in on Monday even though both of them have the same notice issued at the same day. Notice date is different whenever they issue you a notice. I got my initial noa (I-797C) dated 03/04 and my biometric (I-797C) dated 03/08.

I understand that. Even on the USCIS website they say look at your received date for xyz. I think A_R was asking about the dates on the VJ timeline though which can be a bit misleading as they ask you for "date filed" and "NOA date". It'd be nice if they clarified it more as they did with K1. When you go to edit your timeline, next to K1 NOA1 date there's a question mark that after clicking on it shows you a sample letter on which it's highlighted that NOA1 date is the notice date on the receipt notice and NOA2 is the notice date on the approval notice. So I assume by these VJ standards NOA date for AOS is also the notice date here on VJ timeline. However, for any official uscis matter I'll go with whatever uscis tells me to use.

You'll be getting a combo card for your EAD and AP. They just needed your biometrics for background check for I485 and I765. If you're cleared for EAD, technically you should be clear for AP too.

Makes sense! I just wanted to triple check if you guys are getting the same thing.

Also I found information that the biometrics location is not always the same as the interview location. I just would love to see anything official saying which office is ours as St. Louis shows waiting times double of what Kansas City has, which would make such a big difference to us

  2. We finally got the biometrics letter today! It's scheduled for 28th in St. Louis, MO. I'm a bit confused again because when I used some uscis tool to search which office will process our case based on our zip code, it said Kansas City. So I assume if I have biometrics in St. Louis, it'll be also the St. Louis office processing our case?

Then on the biometrics letter it mentions only I-485 and I-765. No mention of I-131. Is that normal?

    Hey yall,

A little concerned....I mailed AOS, EAD, and AP out March 1st. They received it March 4th. I have still yet to receive a text or any NOAs, and no checks have been cashed....Has anyone else experienced this sort of delay? We sent to the Chicago Lock-Box.

Oh, that’s really concerning for me :(...

I've read on either this thread or February one that people who waited too long emailed the Lock-box and they got a generic email back but then the next day they received text messages from USCIS about their case. They both said it might have been coincidence but may be worth trying. Try to search for those posts for more information

    Hi all,

I got my NOA’s in mail yesterday.

The received date and the notice date are different. For NOA we use received date right?

For the VJ timeline, I personally used the notice date because it's called noa date (=notice of action date so "notice date" makes more sense here for me). I used received date for "date filed" because that's the day they received it and therefore it was officially filed. What else would we use for date filed? Date when we mailed it? That doesn't make sense to me since unless it is received by them it is not filed, right? 🤔

    Hey everyone,

I will be filing at the end of this month, and have been filling out my i-485 and i-765. I have a few questions, though, and was wondering if anyone can help me with them.

I had my medical exam in India during the visa process but opted to not get vaccinated at the time. Will I have to get a medical exam again or can I only get the vaccinations now? If anyone has got vaccinated after arriving to the US, what was the process that you followed? I have five USCIS-approved civil surgeons a few minutes from my place, but I'm unsure of how to go about it.

Secondly, for affidavit of support, can my husband provide for me? Because I don't have my EAD, I'm obviously not working at the moment, so my husband is supporting me. Will his employment and financial details work, as in the case of the visa?

Thanks so much in advance :)

Hey, I think most people on here got their medical completed including vaccinations in their countries. Maybe try to use search and find a thread focused on the specific topic, that will help you more. It is also well explained on: https://www.uscis.gov/greencard/fiancees - "What to submit K1" section. It gives you links to medical instructions and affidavit instructions with more official information about what you need to do/fill.

For the affidavit it depends on how much your husband earns. It's similar to the K1 requirements except the requirement for income is now at 125% and not 100% of poverty guidelines I believe unless you have an exception. As I said it is described in detail in the instructions for the affidavit. I'm sure it'll be more clear as you read through it. That's what we did

Well fingers crossed they are expecting all that documentation at the interview as we haven’t sent any call records, photographs etc.

    Same here.

We didn't send any pictures of us, or anything about our relationship neither. To prove our marriage is real we will be taking all that stuff recommended (pictures, bills, statements etc.) to the interview as we gather it during the months before the interview. I read that's what many people do. Especially if you file AOS within one month after marriage, which we did, there's not much to gather as a proof during such a short time anyway..

    Hi guys,

Joining the March 2019 AOS filers 😁

Sent our package out 02/26, the package was received 03/01, received the text messages 03/05.

The NOA letters were in the mail today, 03/09, all dated 03/05.

Lots of patience to all of us!!

We have very similar timeline, just for us everything was one day earlier. Sent on 25th, text messages on 03/04 and NOA letters in the mail on 03/08 all dated 03/04 😁

Sorry me again!! My husband came in on a K-1 in September 22. We got married on November 9.We are getting ready to send on finally the AOS.,but noticed that his visa is up on March 11.  What happens now?

Not sure how it works exactly but the expiration date on the visa should not matter anymore. It basically says until when he was able to enter the US. When he entered he got a stamp in his passport for 90 days. Within those 90 days you needed to get married, which you did. I think I saw on other forums that if you get married within 90 days, it doesn't matter when you file for AOS but it should be rather sooner than later since after the 90 days from entering US the married K1 is out of status. Try to look for topics under "filing AOS expired I94" in the search on here. E.g. this thread comes up:

    Hi!

Do you know if Supplement A of the I-485 is required for adjustment of status for K-1's?

When I go on the USCIS page( https://www.uscis.gov/greencard/adjustment-of-status) about adjustment of status for K-1 it says,

    "

    Eligibility for Adjustment of Status

You may be eligible for a Green Card based on your admission as a K-1 nonimmigrant if you meet the following requirements:

but when I click on that link, it takes me to the supplement A form and not the I-485 form... So I am wondering is the USCIS page has an error or if we are supposed to file out this form in addition to the I-485?

Please let me know if anyone is experiencing this or what forms they filled out!

I believe it's an error as they even call it "Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status" and not the Supplement A for I-485. I think they just linked it to wrong page by mistake. We didn't file the suplement, nor have I seen anyone else (K1) to do it. We used this: https://www.uscis.gov/i-485

    Hey guys,

Packet sent 2/25, delivered 2/27. No notification nor check cashed yet so I'll be joining you here as a March filer. Hope we got everything right.

I wish lots of patience to everyone! :)

Update: I just got text notifications last night for all three forms. When I check my case status online for the I-485 it says fingerprint fee was accepted on 3/3 and they're working on the case. And for I-765 and I-131 it says they received the forms on 2/26. I'm confused since it was delivered to them on 2/27 :D. I'm curious what the official NOA date will be on the paper notices

We used the one that was mailed back to us- made photocopies and called it good (I'm not paying $10 a pop for a copy unless USCIS asks me to). I wasn't 100% sure which it said, but luckily Jackson county has an online marriage search index and I was able to find a scanned copy of what we sent. It says marriage licence.

Thank you! I appreciate you looking it up!

  12. @EM_Vandaveer and @K1visaHopeful Thank you so much for your quick responses!

If the marriage license becomes the marriage certificate once married, then it makes sense! I was so confused since our witnesses signed both originals (the license and the certificate) at the court so I knew both documents exist. I had no idea the license could in some states work as the certificate while the certificate is useless. The right wording in google search helped me to find correct information now.

When the lady insisted that I cannot use my husband's name based neither on the certificate nor the license unless I change it with the social security, I was worried I won't be able to use his name even for AOS. I'm glad it's not the case!

My husband and I got married in Kansas City, MO.

We went to the recorder of deeds and got our marriage licence. There is a fancy certificate that is not legally binding, and I believe there were two other forms that your officiant should have filled out and sent back to the recorder of deeds at the court house. In about a week, you should get the legal marriage certificate. Comes on yellow-orange card stock and does look nearly as nice as the blue fancy one which, yes, has your maiden name on it. The yellowish one I believe also has the maiden name on it, but you take it to the social security office, bank, licence bureau, work, etc, to update your last name.

Oh, this may be county specific. Both our originals (marriage license and certificate) have blue colour on them. Any chance you remember which one's copy you used for AOS? The one that says certificate or license?

  13. Hey guys, please help, I'm super confused and frustrated!

I did hours of research on this and today a lady at a local office told me something completely different and I have no idea what to do now.

I came on K1, we got marriage license at County Recorder's Office last Monday and got married last Friday.

Today we were supposed to stop by the County Recorder's Office again and I thought they were gonna issue us certified copies of marriage certificate. I read on many websites that the license allows us to get married and then the marriage certificate is an actual proof of marriage. Also in AOS instructions they ask for copy of a marriage certificate not license. Also I read people used marriage certificate to show legal name change in case they wanted to change their name to the married name on bank account etc.

The lady today gave us certified copies of signed marriage LICENSE from the court. She said the marriage certificate is a nice thing (memory) for us to have at home but otherwise it is useless and it is NOT a legal document. Also she told me I CANNOT change my last name to my husband's unless I go to social security office. She said I CANNOT use the license and definitely not the certificate as a proof of name change.

Until today I thought once we will get certified copies of marriage certificate, I'll use it for AOS and also I'll use it to change my last name on anything I have or will set up (bank account etc.).

I thought social security office won't change my last name until it matches with the immigration system, which is not until I get my work permit with my new last name, that I am supposed to prove by a certified copy of marriage certificate.

Was the lady wrong or was my research wrong?

Anyone in Missouri who could share their experience and advice? This is probably different for each state.

Should I just use the cert. copies of license or should we insist on the cert. copies of the certificate even though she said it's useless?

Thank you for sharing your experience! Really appreciate it!

Right now I'm also leaning towards getting the vaccinations done before my medical for my piece of mind. At the medical I will check the form if it has all the vaccinations + chickenpox history on there before signing it.

GL in the USA (if you haven't left already)! :)

Thank you! Good luck to you as well! :)

Btw not sure how it is with your type of case but at the medical I didn't get to see the form. I just got a copy a week later. So I was nervous waiting that time to see what's on there 😬

Michaela, thank you for commenting on this topic, I really appreciate it :)

I did read your embassy review with your medical description. It is very similar to what I have heard from the doctors.  Altough in my case (cr1/ir1) I do not know what the checkpoints in the USA would be where they would check i really got the recommended vaccinations- I assume that in case of K1 visa that would be AOS

I will only need influenza and possibly also TDaP booster for my missing vaccines.

If the embassy issues my visa even without the completed vaccinations, I don't see any reason why to get them.  But at the same time I just might get them to be on the safe side. I am torn :)

Either way, it seems like the doctors don't know what they're doing here which is quite frustrating.

No problem! Honestly I don't think they know what they're doing. I was even thinking about contacting someone at the embassy regarding this but didn't want to mess up the process for myself or anyone after me. They told one girl when she asked at the medical that she may need hepatitis for the green card but as you said before, according to the official tables our age group doesn't need it! If I were you and if it's written somewhere on the official website that you need them, I'd just get those 2 vaccines ahead the medical just for my own piece of mind. You'd need tetanus at some point in the US anyway. I've never had a flu shot before but I "survived" getting it this one time. And just make sure the doctor at the medical puts varicella history into the form.

The medical was a bit awkward as I didn't know how to make it clear nicely what needs to be on there :D. So I was just kind of like "btw I read on official gov website that I need to have this and this for the green card... ehm I heard about some girls having problems with not having it so I just want to make sure I have it all on there" and the doctor said something along the lines that she tells everyone about the requirements but people sometimes don't listen, which is bs I think. The girl I mentioned, was told by the doctor to get the hepatitis before leaving or in the US but that would be after medical so even if it was needed, it wouldn't be on the vaccination form and therefore it'd be useless for K1, they'd have to go to a civil surgeon in the US to get all docs filled again, pay money etc. 🙄

  16. I was frustrated because they told me the same thing when I called to the medical - you're fine if you have tetanus and mmr. But I knew that it may be enough to get the visa issued but wouldn't be enough for AOS. Not sure about your tetanus but one more thing - US requires tetanus to be redone every 10 years while in the Czech republic it's 15 years so I got the tetanus done, too. I'd be fine by the Czech rep. standards but not the US ones. I also got influenza (it was flu season). Also I was told there should be a 2 week gap between the shots so mind that when planning your timeline.

  17. Honestly they probably don't know what they're doing! I was so frustrated with them! Here's my review that I included in the embassy review since there is no other space where to write it. I did K1 but it's similar. If I don't have all required vaccinations on the medical form from the Czech republic, then I'd have to go to a civil surgeon in the US, get a new form filled and pay more money. Hope it helps! Feel free to message me

    Medical
I wish there was a review section for the medical place as well since I was surprised that they didn't proceed as I read about on official websites, which caught me off guard. Luckily, I found out ahead of time. Before you continue reading, please do your own research since I can't guarantee I'm right. We'll find out once I'm doing my AOS I guess. Anyway I thought they were supposed to perform any vaccinations that I didn't have yet that are mandatory for my age for immigration and record the ones I had + the ones they did. They record them on a DS-3025 form for the embassy and they give you a copy of this form as well. You can find tables for the vaccinations required by age on official government websites. I was surprised when I asked about it while scheduling my medical and they told me they don't do vaccinations. So I took it into my own hands and based on the tables I got all the necessary vaccinations done ahead of the medical so then they would record all of them into the form at the medical. Then at the medical while talking to the doctor as she was writing down information, I was trying to nicely make sure she'd record everything from my vaccinations records but also varicella (plané neštovice) since I didn't have vaccination for it but I had them as a child and there is a section for the doctor to record it on the form as well (varicella history). Also I made sure varicella was on the paper from my physician with a year when I had it that I took to the medical. I'm glad I did that because one girl didn't know about it and they didn't record her varicella history. Not sure what she's gonna have to do now. From my understanding, the point of the form DS-3025 being complete is, if it is done right and you have every required vaccination recorded, then it is enough to have this complete form for AOS and you don't need to go to another doctor in the US, get another form filled and pay more money for it. I found this information in the official instructions for AOS form. As I said, please do your own research, this is my understanding of what will be required in the US for AOS. There's no problem to get the missing stuff done in the US, my thinking is - we already have to do medical and pay money for it in Prague so if I can avoid having to go to another doctor and I can save time and money just by making sure I have everything right already in Prague then it's a win.

I am confused about the section highlighted (37-38h). It says if your beneficiary is currently in the US complete 38a-h. But on the instructions for that section it says provide the date of your beneficiary's MOST RECENT ENTRY. (I am the beneficiary and I am not in the US but have travelled there)

I can access and print my recent travel history and I-94 from the US CBP website. Should I print and send these as additional evidence? (it matches up with the photos and dates I visited my fiancee).

    Capture.JPG

We were confused too because I-94 is also mentioned in the evidence section. For 37 we said yes and then 38a-h left blank. Called USCIS if we should include I-94 and the person wasn't sure. Basically said it's better to do it and it doesn't hurt anything. Also it's a proof of us visiting. So we printed and included I-94 and also copy of my passport page with picture and passport pages with stamps from the 2 last visits. We got approved after 187 days, no RFE

"Passport and Travel Document Numbers. If your beneficiary used a passport or travel document to travel to the United States, enter either the passport or travel document information in the appropriate space on the petition, even if the passport or travel document is currently expired."

  19. Hey guys, I'm confused. I thought only employer letter and statements, as A and B mention, are sufficient. C and D doesn't apply to us. Where did you find that all of the other stuff is necessary? My fiancé earns enough to be above the poverty guideline requirement. Do we need to get anything else? I saw people mentioning other documents here but then there is nothing about them in the instructions for I-134. Thank you for help!1113690895_Snmekobrazovky2018-10-14v22_07_36.png.2b6aa12fd6ef6b473c3b84176beafb50.png
