Hey all,
We had our AOS Greencard interview last Friday, May 17th. Here is our experience in Raleigh, NC:
We arrived around 12:45 for our 1pm appointment. We were given a ticket # by the receptionist and headed to the second floor where we sat while we waited to be called in. The waiting area only had two other couples waiting and we were the first ones. After about 15 minutes of waiting, we were called in by a lady who was going to interview us. She was quiet and not outwardly friendly. She led us to her office and told us to keep standing to take our oath. We were then asked to show our IDs. I told her I had my passport or license and she asked for my license. My husband (the applicant) showed his passport and then had his picture and fingerprint taken.
The lady told us to hand in all documents that are in addition to what we already submitted. At this, I was a bit confused as I thought she would list documents that she needed but instead, she left it up to us to decide. I also handed her our marriage certificate, but she said she already had it and she stressed that she only wants documents that she does not have in our case. So then, my husband and I took a few minutes to decide what we needed to hand in that was new:
- Pictures from our wedding, honeymoon and other trips (she said we can show her pictures now if we wanted to keep them or leave 10 for her to review, so we chose 10 to give to her)
- Copy of our honeymoon flight tickets
- Joint bank account document & bank statements
- Joint phone account document
- Co-sponsor's residential address & copy of US citizenship
While handing in the documents, I tried to explain what each was, but the lady told us not to explain as she will review everything once our interview is over. She added that her main goal is to judge if our marriage is truthful. So I quietly handed everything then she proceeded with the interview questions.
She went through the I-485 form that she had in our case file and asked for our date of marriage. There was a slight mix up as we wrote a date earlier than it was (we had too many dates to track!) but she said it's okay and fixed it on the form—phew! Another area that we skipped was if we already had children and she marked our answer as no. She asked my husband all the questions on the form regarding criminal activities. Then she asked me how we met and why we decided to get married. I told her our story on how we met through a mutual friend, when we decided to get engaged and what we liked about each other. I went on for about 2-3 minutes and she gave us a few smiles which was refreshing.
After this, she said our interview is over, which was surprising because I thought she would ask my husband more questions. She also said that she will review all our documents after the interview so the decision has not yet been made. At this, I became a little upset but I maintained myself and asked her politely when we can check for our case update. She said it will take about 5-7 business days for a case update and if approved, we will receive an approval letter after a few days and the actual card might take up to 4 weeks. She also said that sometimes, the case can be updated on the same date as the interview. I asked if the approval letter would be enough for my husband to show the employer if he wants to get a job and she said it's up to the employer to accept it or not. Basically, we haven't received our AED and we have been waiting for this interview for a long time so my husband can finally look for jobs! I was a bit upset when it was over, but my husband assured me everything will be okay as we have been truthful and our case looks good.
Once we left and came home, I decided to casually check the case status a few hours later and to my surprise it was updated to: New Card is being Produced! I could not believe this, and I am still a little nervous because I did not think the interview went as I'd hoped. We are anxiously waiting for the card and are excited for this part of the process to be over!
Sorry for the long story...just thought it would be helpful for some of you. I wish you all the best of luck, it's nervewracking but as long as you tell the truth and be polite, things will turn out well. 😊

Okie doke, here's the detailed rundown of our Green Card interview; I'll put a copy in a review of the office too.
First off, a list of what we took, and whether it was needed during the interview:
- Copy of I-864 - sponsorship form; not needed, but we took it just to be safe
- All of my husband's pay slips since the November application; not needed, but again just to be safe (We weren't sure if we'd get an RFE here, because my husband earned less than the limit in his 2017 tax return and only got a promotion in June of 2018. His 2018 tax return was also below the limit because he only had six months in his current position)
- Our 2018 Joint Tax return; not needed
- My husband's (sponsor) birth certificate + copy; Not needed but it is requested on the letter
- My (beneficiary) birth certificate + copy; Not needed but is requested on the letter
- My Husband's passport + copy; Not needed
- My Passport + copy; Actually needed! Yay! He didn't take the copy, though, because there was already one in the file.
- My Husband's driving license; Needed; was reviewed to get into the building and again in the office
- My UK driving license; Needed; I guess as an extra form of identification
- My Employment Authorization Document; Needed; it actually does request this on the letter too so definitely take it if you have one!
- Interview Letter; Needed; again, it's requested
- Certified copy of marriage certificate; Not needed! Weirdly he didn't ask for it at all! Definitely take it with you though, when you go.
- Vaccination worksheet provided during the K1 medical; Not needed but mentioned
- Print out of I94 Record (entry on K1); Needed
- Joint Bank Account Statement; Needed and kept by the officer
- Printed page of husband's life & medical insurance showing me as the beneficiary; Needed and kept by the officer
- Copy of the joint lease for our apartment; Needed and kept by the officer
- Wedding photo album and two loose pictures; Needed and reviewed by the officer; kept the loose copies
Our appointment was at 1.45PM at the Jacksonville office. We arrived at 1.30PM and made our way through security, and were directed to sign in with the reception clerk. The clerk then printed out a ticket with our number on it, and directed us to the waiting room. As we waited there we noticed several other couples but no one I recognised from here (might not even have been Adjustment of Status couples!). There were a few TVs displaying information, and an example of a Civics question for naturalisation; (which ocean can be found off of the East Coast?).
We were there maybe about five minutes before the officer came and called our ticket number. He was nice enough - a little brusk, perhaps, but definitely friendly! We followed him to a little room in the back of the building - which was a relief to my husband because there were windows in the waiting room similar to the windows you stand at for K1, and his comment was that it didn't seem very private. There we were told to remain standing for the oath (he did let me put down my folder though!) and we swore in to the interview. We were told to be seated - I had to sit on the right because he needed to take my fingerprints (both index fingers) and my photograph.
He asked for our IDs; my husband's driving license, my passport, EAD and driving license. I explained that I didn't yet have a US one, only a UK one. We told him that we're working on it and that I've got a learners permit. Then he confirmed that we were adjusting from a K1, that this was our first marriage, that we had no children, asked me to spell out my name (first, middle and new last name), and asked me my date of birth. He asked my husband what address we lived at - my husband, who has struggled with our new address since we moved, took a while to remember but did explain that he'd lived at his previous address for twenty years before moving to the new one. The officer seemed pretty satisfied with that and moved on to asking me all the questions that were on the form about criminal history, whether I had killed anyone, whether I belonged to the communist party etc. My husband found that a little weird.
Then he checked the medical on his PC, confirmed that I'd had the medical done previously and not done a new one. Then he asked for any joint bank statements we had, any leases. He made the assumption we didn't have any joint insurance, and seemed pleasantly surprised when I put that in front of him. He wanted photos too - and looked through the entire album that we had brought with us - and took the paper copies for his records. He asked who someone was in the wedding album (my dad!)
Then he asked my husband questions; when and how did me meet, he wanted the month and year too. When did we meet in person (month and year), where did we stay, when did we start dating, who proposed to who, when did my husband propose, where did my husband propose, had we had any children, had my husband ever been to the UK, how many times and the reason for his visit, has my husband met my family, had I met my husband's family.
Then he said he needed to print something from his computer but his printer wasn't working so he left the room to try it elsewhere. This is where I thought he was printing an RFE, because my husband - who is terrible with dates - kept getting dates wrong. From the way he said he was going to ask my husband questions, I realised I wasn't allowed to help too, which was hard! When he returned, without paper, he restarted his PC to get the thing to print - and surprise! it was a thing for me and my husband to sign referring to removal of conditions. He said that we had to apply any time before the greencard expired, but no sooner than 21 months "from today", and that the greencard would be in the mail. It honestly took a few moments for it to sink in because I'd super convinced myself that were were getting an RFE.
He asked if we'd prepared the forms for the AOS ourselves, and then assured us that the ROC would be "much easier" (so maybe I won't have to do a second interview..? One can hope! 😂).
Then he escorted us back to the entrance to the building and wished us luck! About thirty to forty five minutes later I had an email to say that a new card had been ordered for production!
Detailed enough @Allaboutwaiting?
Congratulations!!! Very happy for you!!
Our interview is today in about an hour and a half so this definitely helps. Thank you ❤️

If you go to account settings you should see a tab that says signature; that's where I put in the important dates of my timeline so it displays whenever I post (you can't see it when accessing from your phone though).
Ahh okay, I've been trying to figure this out then gave up. Thank you!

I meant the medical that my husband took overseas. He had all his required vaccinations taken there and was given a sealed envelope which he handed over at POE.
Right, you will need to submit a photocopy of your DS3025 Vaccination Record that was given to him at his overseas medical exam but separate from the sealed envelope. And then bring your original personal copy of the DS3025 to the interview. You have not mentioned if he has a personal copy of his DS3025 Vaccination Record and some one referred to it as an I693 (which is not the case) which is why I'm confused.
Sorry for the confusion—He was given the DS3025 which was separate from the sealed envelope that he handed in at POE.
Does he have a DS3025? Yes
Did you submit a photocopy with the I485? Yes
Do you have your personal copy to bring to the interview? Yes I plan to bring original & copies of it
I want to list my timeline so it shows up every time I make a post here and I am not sure how to do this!! I can see many people whose timelines show up below their posts here, which is very helpful.
I've never seen that? You could put it in your signature? Or we can just look at your timeline as it's easily accessible for everyone here but you would have to ensure its correct and up to date.
Yup, the timeline is now updated! Thanks for all your help! 😊

Hi! I have my interview the day before you (Thursday, eek!)
We're not bringing copies of the I-485/I-864, but for the latter we'll be bringing along more of my husband's pay slips just in case they need that additional evidence (he only started earning enough in June of last year so we could only submit a few pay slips before).
The medical form I-693 is the same; did you get a copy for yourself when you went for your medical in your country? I got a copy from given to me, I'll be taking that along and hoping it's enough.
Evidence we're taking is similar to yours;
-Joint bank statement
-Copy of our lease
-Marriage certificate
-Govt IDs and BCs
-I94 print out
-Print out of health insurance we have through his work (I'm the beneficiary on his life insurance too)
-Our wedding album (and a few loose pictures if they need them for their files)
I'll probably post on Thursday evening how ours went, but with any luck the evidence should be enough.
Edit: Hey - could you update your timeline? Thanks! 😁
Thank you so much! My husband received a copy of his medical records when he went for vaccinations so we will take those.
Also, I just updated our timeline—I'm trying to figure out how I can include it in my post profile?
Wishing you and your husband the best of luck on the interview!!

Hey all,
We have our interview coming up next Friday and I had a few questions regarding the required list to bring to the interview:
Do we have to bring in copies of the forms I-485 and I-864? These were already submitted and I feel like it would be such a waste of printing and paper if they already have these documents.
Is the medical form I-693 the same form that is submitted in a sealed envelope when entering the US?
We plan to bring the following:
Documentation showing our joint bank and phone accounts
Evidence of our residence & address
Official marriage certificate
Our government IDs and birth certificates
i-94
Photos of our wedding and honeymoon with airplane tickets
Any other advice would be greatly appreciated! Good luck to all those interviewing soon 😊

Hey guys, our case was received on December 30th. We had our biometrics appointment on January 30th. We still haven't received any case updates. On the USCIS website, our case status is still showing as "Case was Received" and "Fingerprint fee was Received." Should we be concerned? I was expecting at least an update on an interview schedule, but nothing yet 😟
-
Hey all, just an fyi: if your record isn't showing up on the i-94 website, try using the red numbers that are shown on the US visa on the passport in place of the passport # (ours is an 8-digit number which starts with "n"). There were no records found when I first went to find our i-94 so then I called the closest CBP officer who said that sometimes they use the other # instead of the passport for entry.

Can we expect it to become ready by November 5-6?
Yeah, this is a possibility. Our case was in transit on Oct 3rd and ready by the 9th. In between, we were able to submit the DS-160 form, make the visa fee payment and schedule the medical and interview! This may vary from embassy to embassy but see what you can get done in the time being. Good luck!!

Hi, everyone! Had my interview last October 26 and I passed! I'm just worried because the CEAC tracker still says "Ready" and it has been 2 working days since the interview.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Congrats!! I wouldn't worry about that, it said "ready" for us too. Just wait for the notification for when you can pick up the passport. Surprisingly ours was ready within 2 days, for some it could take a little over a week.

My fiance got his passport today with the Visa!!! We were really not expecting it this soon, we were thinking next Wednesday or Thursday since his interview was this past Wednesday. Trying to get tickets asap for him to get here 😁Good luck to everyone else on here, my prayers are with you!

First congratulations. The easiest part of this process is the INTERVIEW! All the other stuff can drive you batty. Don't buy airline tickets till you have the passport/visa in hand and that you have looked it over very carefully. If all is right then book, fly and kiss.
BTW, I don't have a checklist P3 letter for Lebanon. Can you provide a copy so that I can help others who will come behind you? Thanks.
Thanks!! Yeah we will wait till visa is in his hands, hopefully next week and I know he'll be taking the next flight here haha 😄
Sure I can send it over and add the required docs that were not mentioned. You want it via email or over here?

My fiance gave his interview today at 10am (it was 3am my time so I didn't get any sleep lol) and he was approved!!!!! His appointment came last, so it was about a 2 hour wait. His interview lasted only 10 minutes. The lady officer was very nice, she asked lots of questions but they were easy and he said everything went smoothly. MAKE SURE you reference the checklist given here on the portal for your specific embassy and ask others who have gone through the process. There were some documents that the embassy required which were not listed in the packet we were emailed! For our case, it was a copy of the passport and the email confirmation of the interview which looks like this:
Dear Sir:
We received your approved fiancé visa case. Please find attached the required documents.
This was not mentioned anywhere on the embassy website either.
All the best, hope all of you get your visas approved soon!

Hi everyone. My fiancee said she passed her interview yesterday and today it changed from application received to administrative processing. I assume this is normal?
Congratulations!! How was the interview overall? Any tough questions?
Also, curious what was taken as proof of employment?

Hello,
I finally have my Sydney case number and it's in transit to Sydney.
Is it too soon to start filling out the DS-160 online? Should I wait for the Sydney embassy to contact me and get my package?
Cheers
Alice
That's great news! Fill the form out now and gather paperwork for medical and interview. Once case is "ready" you can submit the form, make the visa fee payment, then use those confirmation #s to schedule your medical and interview. Some cases can be ready in just a day or two so I wouldn't wait if I were you!!
It did take a little longer for my case to be ready (7 days since the weekend and embassy holiday came in between), but I was able to submit the DS-160 form, make the visa fee payment and schedule interview and medical since appointments were available at the time all while our case was in transit.

Currently waiting for a case number, when i click look at similar timelines, there is nothing 😕 Anyone can give me a timeline? I've tried to read pages of this post but it's so much, haven't finished yet trying to get a timeframe
Have you been calling for the case # everyday? Generally, it's been about 2-3 weeks from what I have seen.

Case Number - October 5th
Once they give you a case number what else do they have to do? I'm just wondering what the odds of us being in the next batch this coming week. Hopefully it will be sent to Montreal soon, I'm getting impatient! lol
Hey yours should most likely go with the next batch this coming week. For example, I got my case # on Sept 24 and it was sent out Oct 2nd. Things will move quickly after a few days, just hang in there!! 🙏
