I can tell you what our recent experience was like with SSN in CA (not LA though)
PoE was March 1st, Friday evening, printed out I-94 from PoE at home, went to SSA office at the open time Monday, March 4th. Please note: Not all SSA office created equal, some do not process SSN card applications, make sure the one you go to processes them. Use https://secure.ssa.gov/ICON/ic001.action#officeResults and select "I need card services" to find closest office. 
At SSA office we filled out a single one page form.
https://www.ssa.gov/forms/ss-5.pdf You can download, print it, and fill it before at home as well if you so choose.
This form has one tricky question: Question 5: Citizenship: For K-1 holders answer is Legal Alien Allowed to Work. https://www.ssa.gov/people/immigrants/visa.html
Make sure to put names of your parents before Marriage. You should not need Birthday certificate. The worker refused to look at I-94 saying "I only need visa in your passport" I feel that was a mistake on his part, which might've contributed to delay. 
After you are done at the SSA office, you can go to https://save.uscis.gov/casecheck/ and see if you can check the status of case verification with SAVE database. Your SSN will not be issued until this clears, but website doesn't show you the result of the check, just if they are still working on it, or if they are processing it.
We didn't get our SSN in the mail until April 5, 2019. The date on the card says March 29, 2019. So in effect it took nearly 5 weeks to get the card. 
 
Hope you will have better luck. I would absolutely advise you to try to get it as soon as possible. 
 

Not here to argue with you. Literally just wanted advice about SSN. If you have anything to say about that, then I would be happy about, if not; then lets move on.  I am sure we both have better things to do

Go the minute you land. I came thru LAX with my fiancee in November. Either print your I94 at the airport if you have lounge access, or there is a Staples office supplies 1 mile from LAX in the near vicinity of the In-N-Out burger. So maybe the double double burger animal style first, then print I94 at the Staples print and copy center, you can have the SS card application filled out before you land ( Print it out online) , then the closest SS office is posted below. If you land at night, first thing the next day. If they give you an issue that your not in the system because they will see you just arrived, calmly but firmly ask them to please check. You will more than likely be in the system. My fiancee at the time was in the system the next day( less than 18 hours after coming thru POE) had card in 2 weeks. Went to DMV day after receiving SS card with her card, passport, translated birth certificate just in case, and had no problem getting a state ID card, wouldn't worry about a license right away, but you want to get in the system so when you go to get your license it makes things much easier. It will also make opening bank accounts and doing just about anything here once you have the state ID. My wife was a witness to a crime here in Vegas ( big surprise). And was able to show her ID to police for identification. Nothing has come of it so far, but was good she had it.

In my particular case, I had an international driver's license and this is what happened to me:
 
The international driver's license in the USA was good enough for rental car companies but for our family's Iowa auto insurance policy for personal cars I needed a valid Iowa state driver's license. 
 
Auto insurance is regulated state by state.  So, I could not drive legally until getting EAD card.

probably so. that im not sure of but in california you can drive with an international license.

I did not ask the DMV. I am reciting from other members here on VJ and on Facebook groups. Im not sure the process for obtaining it in your home country, but it is allowed.

Actually if you have an international drivers license you can drive.  Great information though. I will benefit from it as well. 

Thank you! I appreciate it  So as soon as the I-94 is available I can just go and apply for the SSN? Do you know when it is available?

Let me clarify:  I would certainly get a SSN as soon as possible... Opening a bank account, renting an apartment, and other things are much easier........and there is no reason to wait the full 2 weeks as indicated in the VJ guide.  Back, before electronic I-94s, etc., it was better to wait....but not now... 

I would not wait to apply for ssn with a name other than the name the uscis has.  Far to many people have had issues. 

You do not have to wait 2 weeks........I would go a couple days after arriving.

I submitted copies at my interview, and they were not given back to me. You should be fine with submitting copies.
