Yes, on CEAC it will say at respective consulate and that's an NVC update. The USEM too has to acknowledge and provide their own update and they do that through the CEAC tracker. Once, the USEM acknowledges receipt of it the tracker will change to Ready. Folks should note that the USEM doesn't provide updates through NVC CEAC; they provide it through the CEAC tracker, and going forward that's where you'll get all your updates including visa status.

Understood. The tracker is still saying at NVC

Mine says at San Jose the same day.  The case tracker just says' in transit'

    Have you logged in?

I did log in. But after hearing that everyone’s status changed the same day...I called NVC. The rep said the site was last updated on Friday so it makes sense why I don’t see a status change. He said rest assured the file is currently with the embassy and feel free to contact them directly. So I sent the recommended request and will wait for a response

Mine changed to 'in transit' the same day, however it still is 'in transit' a week later.

At the beginning of this thread, @dwheels76 posted a template that you can use to ask for an earlier interview date.  The email is directly to the embassy and you can try.  They will say yes or no.  It's likely they'll say no because they probably gave you the 'first available', but worth a try!

    To whom it may concern,

    My name is *********
I am writing to you in order to request an earlier interview. I have originally been scheduled for an Immigrant interview at (name of embassy and give date)
I have completed the required medical exam and I have all the necessary documents necessary for the interview and I am ready.
If it is at all possible for an earlier interview date to be scheduled for me it would be much appreciated.
    Thank you for your time

    Sincerely.

You are awesome! Thanks so much! I know I can’t contact the embassy until they have our file. I’m hoping our CEAC status changes soon and then I’ll try sending the request. Thanks so much

I've seen it happen but they received dates after their original..keep what u have imo....38 more days for us..time is zooming!..if your embassy busy like mine chances are there are no more slots for this month

Thanks for responding. Sounds like keeping the existing appointment is my only choice as I don’t have a legitimate reason to expedite. How long did it take the CEAC website to say ‘in transit’ once you received your interview date?

The only way to get an earlier interview date is through an official expedite request.

Okay. Got it. I wasn’t aware. Thanks so much.

Update: my husband had his interview this morning in Dakar, Senegal and his visa was APPROVED! He has to go back next Tuesday to pick up his visa. The interview was quick & easy, the CO just asked him about how we met and if our families were both at our wedding. His interview was at 7am, but he arrived at 6am so he was the first interview of the day - he was back home by 9am with the approval!

    Congratulations!!🎊🍾🎈

Congrats on your interview appointment. Why do you want an earlier interview date? Is it because of an emergency/urgency need? If you need an earlier interview date, you'll have to request an expedite from the USEM since NVC has already scheduled your interview with them and it's in their system.

Thanks for your response and the congratulations! No, no urgency but I see people canceling or pushing out their interview dates so just wondering if earlier times are available due to cancellations...would the embassy allow us to fill a canceled spot.

  7. Good Morning All,

We received our interview date last Friday, April 19th. For those that received interview dates, how long did it take for NVC to send your file to the embassy? How long before the CEAC website changed from “at NVC” to “in transit”?

Also, our interview is scheduled for May 30th. Our 1 year Anniversary is May 13th. We’d like to schedule an earlier interview if at all possible (medical was done as soon as we received our case number so we are ready). Has anyone tried to request an earlier date? If so how did you go about it and were you successful?

    thanks in advance

    Roz

That's so good to hear!! I attached the e-mail stating that the Memorandum of Entry was all they had so I'm hoping that's all they need!

Fingers crossed that works for you.  RFE's are the devil.  Especially when you've submitted the exact thing being requested.  Please keep me posted!
