Hey all I just got the package returned with a rejection notice and I'm confused so I really need some help out here. It does says to resubmit with the package though. (I see printed lines at the bottom of my submission, etc.)

I helped my husband submit the AOS, EAD, AP, and my Aff. of support.

    The package returned saying this:

Same denial on the EAD and AP with the mention of incorrect fee.

What am I doing wrong? I submitted $1125.00 USD.
    --------------------------
I just did a quick look at this website here: https://www.uscis.gov/feecalculator
And I came up with this amount: $1,635.00
    Is that correct?
Here is a screenshot of what I got below.

Edit: I just realized I wrote a check as $1125 and not $1225. This $1225 is correct?

Note: Remember I mentioned I forgot to add the total of 6 passport photos in the package and accidentally sent 4? They didn't mention that, but I'm gonna add it anyway.

Right, 1225 is the right amount for filing for spouse, no children.

The text is as follows.  It says it is for the fingerprint fee for the i485, not the i485 itself.  (Nor the fee for the i485)

If it's for the i485, then it is very confusing verbiage.

    Fingerprint Fee Was Received

On July 26, 2019, we accepted the fingerprint fee for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSCxxxxxx. Our National Benefits Center location is working on your case. We mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

There is no case number for fingerprint fee. The fingerprint fee received is associated with your case number and comes after the i485 case is received and assigned a number. If you pull it up on your USCIS account you'll find the "Case Received" status in the history of the case number.

after waiting since july 8th with no response from uscis i got my package back today saying i provided incorrect fees i sent 1225 through a check can someone tell me what is the correct fee (k1) aos

Yes, that's the right amount. You made sure the check was written out to "Department of Homeland Security"? Not abbreviated?

    It should look like this

Random biometrics question.  The appointment notice states I must bring photo ID.  The appointment is in my married name, and my passport and K1 visa are in my maiden name.  My social security card is also in my maiden name and I'm hopeful that my married SS card will arrive in time.  Is my Marriage Certificate enough for them as a name change document?  My gut says it should be, but it certainly adds a level of stress I don't love.

    Yes, that should be enough.

"some" and of course it happens for me. Cuz there werent already enough problems with my k1 on uscis side haha

thanks for letting me know tho, was already worried with the AP

AP comes in a combo card with EAD so they only need to collect for it one time. Biometrics for AOS, I assume, will arrive to you separately. It's not the norm but it's not unheard of.

Validating a signature and certifying a translation are two different matters. I wasn't discussing a notary's qualification to validate signatures.

The instruction clearly says the translation has to be done by a sworn translator.

In the Netherlands, a sworn translator/interpreter is a licenced profession regulated by the law (Wet beëdigde tolken en vertalers) and only translators who are registered in the register of sworn translators, are competent and qualified for that. So, once more, UNLESS YOU ARE A SWORN TRANSLATOR, YOU CANNOT TRANSLATE ON YOUR OWN.

Our embassy requires the same as yours. We had our documents translated by a certified translator in Lebanon and made a million copies to make sure we didn't have to do it again. lol

In their case since it's for USCIS, they don't need to do it by a professional, but I can see what you're saying. Come embassy time, each embassy may require something different. When I read on our P3 that all our civil documents had to be accompanied by a "sworn translation" this is what I assumed as well. Our embassy is notorious for keeping people in AP for months over the smallest mistake or technicality and it's just not a risk I would take. It didn't even occur to me that we could do it, tbh. I understood "sworn translation" to be hiring a professional certified for this to do it.

I was wondering if its OK to apply for jobs before u got EAD...i have been applying for jobs thru job portal sites.

one of my friend recently told me tht his lawyer suggested not to do so.

Is thr any problem in doing so ?

I have circulated my resume to various places already but hearing to him now making me lil nervous ..tht i might not did anything wrong 😕

I think there's no harm but you're supposed to put "no" when asked if you're authorized to work in the US, which is bogus (but factual unfortunately) because the application will most likely get filtered to the trash bin before it even gets to the recruiter. I would suggest trying to meet people in person either by your wife's connections or religious temples etc. My husband met a few people when he started going to church and has been making connections that could lead him to jobs in the future. Word will get around that you need a job and someone may have something eventually. You can also visit business expos or job fairs and talk to people face to face to explain the situation.

I know it's tough being at home and can even get depressing but just remember this should be over soon. It's just a stepping stone before you get your EAD or green card. Hang in there!

Hi all - crossposting from August 2018 Filers. Congrats to those who have finished this process, and best of luck to those still wading through it. We finally got our approval and my fiance flies to New York tomorrow. Here is our complete timeline, if it's helpful to any of you still waiting. Getting an appointment at the embassy took much longer than we expected, in particular. We checked hourly for several weeks before something opened up. I couldn't find a secret WhatsApp group for Turkey, alas. 😄 Also, we worried for a whole year about the fact that I (female petitioner) am 19 years older than my partner (male beneficiary). Everyone said it was a "red flag," and it never came up ONCE, not even in the interview. Go figure.

    3 August 2018: I-129F package sent

    9 August 2018: NOA1 notification

    17 August 2018: NOA1 hard copy received

    11 January 2019: RFE notification

18 January 2019: RFE hard copy received (requesting separate letter of intent to marry from beneficiary)

25 January 2019: RFE response sent to USCIS

28 January 2019: RFE response received by USCIS

    12 February 2019: NOA2 hard copy received

    18 March 2019: Case # assigned @ NVC

26 March 2019: Email from NVC that petition being forwarded to embassy

28 March 2019: P3 email from embassy (no paper packet sent)

    31 March 2019: DS-160 submitted

3 May 2019: Interview appointment scheduled & P4 email from embassy (no paper version sent)

14 June 2019: Interview date (approved!)

19 June 2019: Status changed from AP to Issued

21 June 2019: Passport/visa delivered to local postal office and picked up

    27 June 2019: Flight to U.S.

    Just saw this -- Congrats!!!

Oh really, usually USPS are pretty good with the whole tracking thing but should I just wait a week or so now and then contact them? What would I even say when I call to try find my case numbers.

Yes, for any other deliveries I usually don't have issues with them but I've noticed it's a recurring problem with them delivering to USCIS. and yes, I would give it about a week and contact them. Tell them your USPS tracking doesn't show it was picked up and you just want to make sure it arrived to them well. They'll let you know at that point if they have received it and if they have you can ask them if they have case numbers yet (in our case she just provided them for us).

Sent package on Monday via USPS priority mail but tracking says been sitting at facility since 2:50am Tuesday. Sent from Boston.

Mine said that, too. I ended up calling USCIS a week later and they had already received it and provided us with the case numbers. I guess USPS doesn't update past it arriving sometimes.

Question:  My fiance declined to get the vaccines in Argentina.  We are planning to submit the AOS by the end of August.  The medical should still be valid because he did it in May.  However, he does not have the vaccines.  Can we get them with a private doctor through our insurance and have that added to the AOS.  Or, how would this work?

I believe you can get your vaccines done anywhere but you have to have the I-693 filled out by a civil surgeon.

    From another thread:

Even if a new medical examination is not required, you must still show proof that you complied with the vaccination requirements. If the vaccination record (DS 3025) was not properly completed and included as part of the original overseas medical examination report, you will have to have the Part 7. Vaccination Record completed by a designated civil surgeon. In this case, you must submit Parts 1., 2., 4., and 7. of Form I-693.

Here it is in case you'd like to take a peek:

Ugh I just got off the phone with USCIS and they confirmed my interviews is going to be held in Dallas. The closest office is San Antonio but since the mailing address I use is closer to Dallas, it’s going to be Dallas. Welp... at least he said my case is moving forward surprisingly fast and it might mean that the interview is going to be scheduled soon as well. But we’ll see.. :)

Awww :( but I hope so! That would be awesome. Dallas is still not as slow as Houston from what I hear so it's still good news! Keep us updated!

I was thinking the same.. Did you have your biometrics in Dallas or San Antonio? And what is your current status on the case? :)

We had his appt in San Antonio since we live here but the ASC is way across town from the actual local office.

Our status has shown "Fingerprint Fee Received" since the same day they received it. I don't think this office updates the system on a timely basis -_-
