Thats doable and what I did.  Give 3-4 days for the medical results.

Yeah I have also been monitoring the October I-129f group! We're on stage next folks! Fingers crossed for the nest couple of weeks

I have told my family many times that when I hear back about our petition I will let them know. I had to go to the post office to pick up a letter the other day and my parents were certain that it was a letter from the embassy. I explained to them that The next piece of mail we are expecting will be sent to the petitioner, NOT to me. Even after I explained that to them, they still believed that the letter was from the embassy. They were disappointed to find out it was a letter from the insurance company telling me it was time to pay for my license. I dont expect them to understand and remember every single part of the process but it would be nice if they just listened to me in the moment.
It's so hard to set a date when visas are so unpredictable. It also sucks that its difficult to make other people understand that.

Oh that is my daughters luck with her cat too. He now has a favourite pillow he sleeps on. She leaves that all set up the way he likes it and it catches most of the puke.

Yes you are able to travel to visit them but you'll need to bring some proof that you are going to return, thing like letters from employers saying when you need to be back at work. As a Canadian there is a chance you may not experience any hassle at the border but its good to bring proof just in case. Don't spend too much time there though.
Here are some more ideas for proof of return:
- Ownership of real property (real estate) and/or highly valuable tangible property
- Ownership of a business/investment/etc.
- Relationships to people (e.g.: family, children, community, etc.)
- Responsibilities (e.g.: professional job, student, caring for parents/children, community leader, etc.)

What I miss the most is being able to disappear in a crowd.  I could be having the best time of my life with my friends, and remain totally anonymous.  Plus, everything was open whenever we felt like doing stuff - not like here, where the hours are all family friendly and also church oriented (closed evenings and Sundays).  So weird!
