If the I-485 approval date on your timeline is correct, his extension should extend the date on this Green Card until August 2025.  It is common to receive a combo interview.  I would certainly prepare for one.

You can file an e request here:
    https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/Intro.do

And the GC should be extended until 2025.

I know it's hard to process not getting an approval the day of the interview but I wouldn't worry about it too much.  When we had our interview last year in Chicago we were not approved on the spot, didn't even receive any paperwork from the interviewer, and had no other further updates until 3 weeks later when our account status finally changed to Card Being Produced.  So, I understand your worry but, at this point, it's just going to be another round of waiting until Card Being Produced.  In our case the delay was because our interviewer didn't receive any of our K-1 documentation before our interview so she had to request that paperwork along with making some corrections on our case (initial case reviewer stated we needed an I-130 completed but it was not needed since it was a K-1).  So, you may have received the held for review for this reason or, like you stated, they complete the interviews throughout the day and do final approvals later in the day.  Unfortunately the best advice I can give is just to wait and keep checking for updates.

They prefer that your case be interviewed within that four month "window". The NOA 2 can be extended up to a year by your Embassy but with good reason and the Embassy doesn't need to extend the NOA2 for the "one" year from expiration. The new extension, if approved, will be for an additional 4 months. Extensions are in the form of 4 month extension with each approval till you reach one year. If you need to go beyond a year then you must go to the end of the line and begin the process from 129f over again and pay the fees. You must provide a reason for the NOA 2 extension when requesting the extension from your Embassy.

Now, my question is what does it mean: It's only for the interview for your visa.

[Do] we have to get married before that and have all documentation for adjustment of status sent to USCIS before October 8th. No it only pertains to the Embassy portion. For the AOS after marriage it's stipulated you must marry and submit your paperwork.

Also, if you guys can guide me to adjustment of the status forum so I do everything correctly for that. http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos

I think that pretty much answers all your questions. Good luck and we really really appreciate you!

Greetings to all Indian members for K1.

It means you had to have your interview and be approved by the NOA2 expiry date. You could have extended it in four month increments if you had to but now that you are approved, that date doesnt mean much.

I'll let someone else chime in on the form links as I'm tired. Today was "apply for SSN before marriage day". My peti works til 3am and we had to be up by 7 to get there for 9am. Was still 19th in line.
PS. My SS application is going through the "manual check" as the info on my K1 Visa stamp "doesnt match" my immigration info with USCIS. The agent didnt understand why he didnt get approval right away as he was knowledgable on the K1 right to SSN before AOS.
PSS. Maybe because he added the word "Can"  to my hometown name as that's what my Canadian Passport said for place of birth and he swore he must go by what my passport says (even though it obviously stood for "Canada".
Or maybe it's because my father's whole middle name didnt "fit" in his system so he had to leave out a letter.
Handed me a paper with the info that he input into his system from my passport WITH the errors that I tried to correct but he wouldnt let me and I had to confirm it was all correct even though it wasnt and now I wait. Should have notice within 7 days if I have been approved for a SSN and in another 30 I'll get it in the mail if I'm approved.
*1 hour and 15 minutes in and out.
**19th in line for "New" applications alone when I arrived 10 minutes before opening.
    ***Location: Marietta GA
****Nice Agent. Knowledgable on K1's but not on reading passports or what to do in an exception (I feel bad for the 60% non English speaking foreigners in there. I must have heard at least 10 different languages being spoken while I waited). Nice guards, help out with explaining what to do and where to go. Busy location. 28 service windows.

As a K-1 Visa Holder you are eligible to receive a SSN upon producing a valid I-94 (unexpired). Do not wait until you only have a few weeks left until your I-94 expires to file for a SSN. Many SSA (Social Security Administration) offices will not allow you to file for a SSN if your I-94 is about to expire (generally 14 days prior to the expiration on your I-94). On the other hand, you should also not file for a SSN too soon either.

You should wait 2 weeks after you arrived in the US before applying for a SSN. UPDATE: It's been reported recently that you no longer need to wait 2 weeks till you are in the SAVE database that you can go the next business day. If you go too soon your record of arrival will not be in the SAVE-ASVI system yet (what is SAVE), and it will require manual verification from the USCIS. As this will add weeks to the period it takes to process the SSN, it is advisable to attempt to wait the two weeks to be safe. If you have waited the 2 weeks and they tell you they cannot verify your arrival record via the SAVE database, then personally return on another day to have them search again -- thus eliminating the manual verification (you don't want to do the manual verification as it adds so much more time to the process).

To apply for a SSN you will need to go to your local SSA office and bring the documents below. These documents are proof of your eligibility to file for a SSN:

The SS-5 form  download and complete the application (they have some at the office if you forget). Your Passport (with the K-1 Visa attached) Your valid I-94 Another form of valid ID (birth certificate will do nicely) You should also print and bring the document RM 10211.530 , in the event that the agent is not knowledgeable that K-1/K-2 are eligible to receive a SSN.
Make sure to bring all the documents above because some offices have staff that are not aware that a K-1 Visa Holder is eligible to file for a SSN. A friendly reminder is a nice thing to have -- if not you could be turned away incorrectly
Once you have successfully applied for your SSN, the SSN card will come in the mail in about 2 weeks.
K2 visa holders must first have a work permit (EAD) to get a social security number.
    After marriage
Carry your marriage certificate to the social security office to get the social security card in the new name. If you applied for a social security number before marriage, you can go back to the social security office after marriage and get your name changed on your social security card.
The social security card will be marked “VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH USCIS AUTHORIZATION”.  That means, you need to get your EAD first before you can actually work.  Hopefully, when you submitted your AOS you included the EAD. If not you will now need to submit the paperwork for an EAD prior to working.

That's a good start on the explanation. I got a hold of the memo and read over it and there is so much in there to explain but like you said, it has nothing to do with K-1's. Basically if you are applying for a benefit (visa) and you are not eligible for that benefit or you are not using the benefit for it's intended purpose then the adjudicator doesn't have to send you a RFE or a NOID. Just VOID. Done! But if an application is received with an error or missing documentation then the adjudicator is obligated to complete the entire processing up to and not including the approval, but must combine all RFE's for that case into one request. In the past they may send out a RFE letter then two weeks later send another RFE for a totally different circumstance. The memo requires them to ask for everything in one letter. So there are many good things in the memo. One just has to take the time to read for themselves and not rely on CNN or Betty Lou over in the Jamaican thread who is afraid that the sky is falling in on her K-1 visa with the intent that she is going to get denied. Believe it or not the spirit of this letter was promulgated in the Obama Administration. This administration is only trying to get the rules so that they are followed. There isn't anything in there that is made up without a reason now or from the past.

Jesssssh now you got me going. See what you did K1visaHopeful?

It IS meant to encourage proper filing. How many times have we read in here about filers not even visiting within the 2 year limit, or not sending originals or certified divorce decrees or criminal record documents because they were "too hard to get" before they wanted to file? I'm glad they are implementing this because they are realizing that the immigration process has been taking way too long and a huge reason for that is because there are way too many careless filers impeding the process and making others who read instructions and have done their research suffer with a longer wait.
It wont affect honest mistakes which is good but you have to agree that the resources are there to apply properly so by tying up government agencies with petitions whose filers did not do their due diligence to ensure they filed properly is an injustice to those of us who do.
That's why we are all here, right?😉

Yes definitely. I am also relieved as I read more about it. I am glad to see the comment about innocent mistakes. Nowadays with immigration, there are so many changes that keep taking place so I usually like to read about them and how it may affect us. I didn't mean to scare anyone, but just shared it so everyone is aware. We will all be filing adjustment of status once our fiance immigrates to the US so that's why I shared because we might get affected if not careful when filing.

    Hi
You no need to worry about blocked your ID.it's temporary for max 2 days and you asked about how many times you can reschedule answer is yes you can do for 4 times and fifth attempt is final and yes you can book appointment in Delhi for biometric  (OFC ) but I suggest you should book your appointment in Mumbai a day or two before your interview so they can get your biometric data right way. Other easy way to book appointment is wheneveryou see slots is available call us visa help desk which is in Delhi and Hyderabad they will book for you slots can open anytime coz some applicant cancel there appointment when times near and you ask about reschedule appointment if you see dates available according to your choice just book it previous appointment will automatically cancelled in the system and everytime you will receive email for appointment confirmation.

If the status says ‘Ready’ at the CEAC website, I’d suggest you go ahead and book the medical, gather all documentation and book your biometric and consular intervieww. You can show them your ds160 confirmation, interview appointment confirmation and the email with the letter you received from the NVC about your case being transferred to the consulate. That should suffice. You’d be wasting time by waiting. Also, just so you’re aware, the clock starts ticking once your medical is complete. You only have 6 months as of the medical exam date to reach the US, which tbh is plenty. Im sure there are exceptions to this, which you would have to check with the embassy on.

First thing I must tell you is to ALWAYS be honest. If you are asked a question, whether on a form or at the interview, you are obligated to answer truthfully. Failing to answer truthfully is grounds for a DECLINE. I can tell from your note that you want to be truthful but you don't want to fail at this. So be truthful.

The CO who will interview your case at the Embassy is not instructed to approve or disapprove an applicant based if he/she is employed. Now, they may want to ask why and your answer is, that he left his position to study for his exams. Sweet, short and to the point.

Let me give you some advice, and for others who are reading this for them to understand something also. When you are in front of the CO, you are obligated to be truthful and answer the questions that are presented to you. I have seen in person how an interview can go bad real fast. CO's are trained to uncover the truth. So, look the CO in the eye, and with confidence, answer their questions. Keep your answers short and to the point and don't ramble on with your answer. Rambling only gives the CO more information to use to ask more questions which can send the interview in the wrong direction with no intent on your fiancés part.

I wish you the best in your quest for a visa. Remember SHORT TRUTHFUL answers.
