    We have been approved 🎉🎉🎉

    NOA 1, old website: 03/02/18

                 new website: 03/06/18

    NOA 2: 09/05/2018

So we got approved on Wednesday but didn't receive any email or text. Neither the websites showed the approval. My fiancé received the notice by mail today.

We have been checking the forum almost daily the last couple weeks, but never posted. We've just created an account few minutes because we know how hard the wait is and we wanted to share our experience.

You might already be approved or will in couple days !

    Bon courage marchers !

    CONGRATSSSSSS! 😍

What the heck? Did no one here in VJ world get an NOA2 today? It's like everyone at USCIS worked so hard yesterday approving a bunch of folks, they decided to take the day off today. LOL

Seriously though, I wonder if they send out NOA2s on certain days of the week or do they normally just stream in each day?

😁 Haha, I don't think it's specific days. My fiance's in another group and it seems like everyday someone's been getting approved. But we should start seeing a consistent approval inflow soon...🤙

Just an update.  The second woman I got on tier 2 was really hostile and mean. She was basically yelling at me telling me my case was in normal processing time.  I was being very polite and cordial and thanked her for her time anyway so that way I don’t get in trouble or anything. But a very terrible experience altogether. She refused to tell me anything, and when I asked if somebody had looked at the case she told me  “We’ve received it and that’s it. Anything else ?” Yikes. Felt like being at the principles office when your 13 years old.

Seems pretty standard. If you're within the "normal processing time" they aren't going to hold a conversation with you very long. Def not surprised.

Keep busy. The approval is coming though....

I honestly don't think calling Tier 2 is a problem. So many February filers have called and got information on their cases. Of course some weren't so lucky and got the generic answer  "you are within normal processing times". However, It's a good way to get a quicker update on your case, since this month people get more and more silent approvals.

    Totally get it. 😊

But thinking about it logically, "whomever you speak with on the phone (Tier 1/2) chances are they are not the actual person holding your case in front of them. They could just be telling you what you want to hear to get you off the call. " For us avoiding the added anxiety has been working. Our expectations is 5-7 months. If it comes before that...awesome.

We look forward to SEPT and to EVERYONE getting their NOA 2 soon..... On Deck!!!

Its doesnt speed it up but at least you know that a background check wont slow it down either . Theres plp that are still pending background check from nov - dec ect . So its good to know that’s not my case . We are just trying to see where we stand in this process.

Awesome, trust me I get it. We're all on that same "need to know basis". My fiance and my approach is just to wait the standard 5-7 months for an approval. But from the start we agreed we wouldn't let the anxiety get the best of us. Now I'm not saying that has to be everyone's approach. But, we have faith in the process. They're understaffed and soon enough March cases will start getting approved (whether we know if we're through the background check or not).

But I guess we're looking at it from a standpoint of being sympathetic to all the cases before ours waiting to be approved. I personal don't feel a call will help unless you've hit that 210 day mark. That warrants a call to see what the hold up is. But on average 5-7 months is the normal processing time....Just our opinion and not trying to force it on anyone.

Why do you think it would slow things down?

do you think if we just wanted to know if the background check is clear and up for review it would be worth the call?

Imagine if 2000+ applicants flood the phone lines each month.....what good does knowing a background check is cleared if you haven't received a NOA2? The call to check won't speed up the NOA2....

If you have the number that nvc gives you yes thats all you need once you fill that ds form you can go ahead and pay the visa fee & medical exams fee  and schedule the interview . I helped my friend with hers thats how i know . Idk the website exactly but there it tells you every step and its pretty easy . Goodluck

But doesn't the beneficiary need to complete the DS online form and not the petitioner?

Some individuals blacked out their SSN without a problem. I have never heard of anyone having a problem either way. So if you feel better then block it out. BTW a tax transcript from IRS is the preferred document for CO's at the interview and can be gotten once you log on to IRS. You print it at the same time and you won't have the bulkiness that you will have with a 1040 tax return.

Sweet, thank you very much. I'm on it...

Not sure if that's a good idea, how else would they verify that is YOUR tax return if your SSN is omitted. This goes to US Embassy, so I would not be too worried about your information being stolen, and some of that paperwork is returned to the beneficiary in the packet they give him for POE, other documents are shredded. I doubt there are nefarious individuals sitting waiting to steal SSN from US citizens. You have a higher chance of that when applying for jobs or running credit on the State side.

Hahaha! Cool, gotcha. Thanks for the quick response.

  10. Hey Quick question for you guys as you have already gone through this step....

When submitting your "Tax Return" (along with the affidavit & letter of intent) has anyone blocked out their social security number? Are there any issues with doing so? I'm only concerned about the tax return ever getting lost or into the wrong hands.

I'm a MARCHIE and we're on deck!!! 😍 I'm gathering all these documents now. Thanks for your help!

Thanks guy for all your responses and suggestion . I think I will go for improving my Portuguese. Next time I go back to Brazil I think I will speak like one of them .lol.  what materials are you using for your Brasil português?

I use duolingo, Wilngua apps on my phone. I also listen to Portuguese Podclass, and A LOT of music. I took some lessons in Verbling. Soon I will get a private teacher (which should cover about 35 hours. The lessons will be intense, but I think it's a must to become fluent. I have not tried Rosetta Stone. But that's another resource. It's a difficult but a beautiful language. I say go for it. Brazil is pretty cool!! Muito Bom!! 🤙🏽 🇧🇷

    2) Language: Your writing seems fine to me, and you are way ahead of where I was when I moved into the country. It will taka surprisingly short time for your ear to open up to English, and don't be afraid to order yourself when in restaurants, do not take an easy way out having your partner order for you. The wait stuff, and people working in retail tend to be very patient and understanding, I don't think language will be an issue for you at all. At home, watch TV/films, it helps to have subtitles on so you can associate spoken words with how they are spelt easier. If you live in places near Southern border, many will also speak Spanish. I realize Portuguese is different, but in general Spanish in many places in practically 2nd language.

Haha! You are exactly right. The best way to learn is it practice. I'm practicing Portuguese all the time. Music, movies, etc. When I bump into a Brazilian I try to practice (even though I'm always pronouncing things wrong...hahaha). It just takes time.
