  1. We had our AOS interview in April and we were told they were a little slow in processing but expect to hear back in a couple months. we then got an RFE to re-review our case. [eye roll] . these things happen. But I distinctly remember our Officer saying he had everything he needed to make a decision.  We didn't send anything new, just had to resubmit, so those of you who are going to your interview, maybe bring as much evidence and paperwork as you can and insist on leaving it with the officer!  We had everything with us but he told us we didnt' need to give him anything new.  Now 3 months later we are just spending money sending all the information again.

  2. Update! : there is no update haha. We had our interview (Grand Junction, Colorado) for our Green card process on April 26, and no news yet about a green card.  For those wondering. Bring EVERTHING related to your case, and obviously the new stuff, marriage cert, bills in both your names, cell phone records, anything that shows you are a couple, new photos etc.   And of course make copies of it all so you don't have to hand over your originals. Our officer had all our stuff with him so he didn't really ask for much, just new evidence if we had it. and the questions were easy, where we met, if I've met her parents, where we live, what we do for fun and then they go through the yes/no questions on the i485 application again.  Basically answer NO to everything.

The adjudicator told us it would be a month until we heard anything as he was backed up with cases, and so now we are moving towards month 2 without a word.  not even sure who to call to inquire.  So keep that in mind everyone, even after your interview it might take a while to get your green card in hand, some states are faster than others of course.  We aren't stressing about it too much, because after 2 years of all these processes we have learned to wait patiently, and sometimes calling and calling to USCIS really doesn't do much except cause anxiety and stress.  We are together, thankfully we got the work permission, (months late) but we are at least able to have a normal life waiting TOGETHER!  The stress will kick in if we don't hear anything by october because we are trying to have a 2nd wedding in mexico in december so hopefully the green card comes in then. and  my wife also doesn't want to get her Drivers license until her green card comes through, we can go to SS office and get an official name change and then go to pass her DL test.

Anyways hope all who are still waiting can hear something soon!

  3. had our interview on friday, the 26th. We applied in Colorado, and we had lots of luck getting our interview scheduled so quickly! For those waiting, hang in there, you have to admit waiting together is a hell of a lot better than waiting in separate countries!

Our interview was scheduled at the public library in Grand Junction, CO. Which we had to call to confirm because it seemed very strange to not have it done at the USCIS offices in Denver, or even the USCIS office in grand junction itself. But overall it went smoothly!

The officer met us while we waited in the childrens literacy reading center and after a few minutes we were called into a back room.  He asked us how we met, who initiated the first contact, how our relationship grew over time, where we live, and what we do for work.  Then he went through our AOS application and reaffirmed the information we put on there.  Then he went through the yes/no questions, have you ever been part of the communist party, gangs, commited a crime etc etc . basically all the questions you answered NO to.  He was congenial and professional. He did have a serious demeanor when asking certain questions, but we felt relaxed and confident through out.  It took about 45 minutes and at the end he had just mentioned that he was swamped with work so we might hear back from him in about a month if he had any other RFE's or needed more evidence.  WE gave him some new pictures, and a copy of our lease which had both our names on it.  And that was it! Weird that it was done in a library, but afterwards we went out for lunch did some shopping and went home, nothing to be nervous about if you have a legit relationship it shouldn't be a problem!  I think having gone through the K1 visa process made it easier, we had TONS of paperwork and evidence ready and he didn't look at any of it. My fiance said that the K1 interview at the consulate in juarez was much more intense.  I'm sure for the officer, seeing that we have been in process for almost 2 years helps quell any doubt he/she might have about a bonafide relationship.

good luck to you all, I'm sure not everyone's experience will be like this, but I hope our experience helps put you at ease for your interview!

Next step, get that green card in hand.

We just got our notice in the mail today that Alex's interview is April 11. Apparently they updated on 3/5 but I didn't get the notification in email or text. We're flying right along.

We're a bit overwhelmed at how much we have to bring to the interview. Don't they have copies of all this stuff? Please it doesn't help that they switched Alex's birth certificate with another person's at the embassy in London!

From what I have heard from friends who have gone through it.  Having already done the K1 process, you already have a good amount of proof and reliability, so the interview's tend to go pretty smoothly. bring what they ask for but don't stress too much about not having your spouse on the lease or mortgage payments, they should be understanding that with out a job or a SSN, even the proper official last name, it's a little unrealistic to have all your papers signed and dotted perfectly. this is only my perspective from hearing it from a friend. Our interview is scheduled too! but no word on the date just yet.

  6. today we got the EAD/AP combo card in the mail! our AP status never changed on the website or app, but the card is proof that it has been approved.  Our interview has been scheduled but we don't know what day yet, waiting for the NOA2 to come in the mail to confirm a date for us. We planned our mexican wedding for december thinking all of this would take a full year, I guess that's how things go, bring an umbrella and it won't rain.

October 12th filer (EAD/AP/AOS) Wishing the best to all of you still waiting!

  7. just got our notification via EMAIL and CASE TRACKER APP this morning. Our interview was scheduled! no Idea what day or time, but such exciting news, we were hoping for a september interview and it looks like it will be way earlier than that.  NOA1 - October 12th for AOS ... this came a week after getting a "NEW CARD IS BEING PRODUCED" notification.  I will update on how long the letters take to arrive, but right now I70 is closed in both directions due to an avalanche (colorado!)  so the mail is a little bit slow.  Hang in there everyone!

So do all K1 EADs go through the national benefits center?

I also have a NOA of October 12th so hoping that this means I will be approved soon!

I think it has everything to do with your local office.  We WERE a K1 visa applicant, my fiance moved here in aug, got married in september, then put in the paper work in october.  But we submitted  the 1-485 i-131 and I-765 all together.. there were some hiccups with the I-765 EAD, being that they sent it back saying we didn't pay the fees, which of course isn't necessary when you apply for all three together.  it was a mess. we had 2 biometric appointments and had to call and call and write and write to get them to approve the I-765,  so actually  our EAD NOA was more like Nov 12th... while the others were all october 12th.   ANYWAYS. from what I understand, they are submitted to NBC and then sent to your local office for approval.

  9. WE submitted our i485, i131, and i785 all together, and the i765was rejected. we resubmitted and it was received af ew weeks later.  Last week we went to our ASC biometrics appointment (3 hours drive) and then we received ANOTHER ASC appointment letter for our resubmitted i765 application.  is this normal that one would have 2 different biometrics?  First one was code 3 and the next one is code 2.  They admitted they made a mistake with the first i765 application, but now won't let us skip this appointment. trying to not take off more work for their mistake. this happen to anyone else?

  10. so good to see some familiar names! getting on finally to update my timeline!  Getting married next week, and will be filing soon, chose to NOT go through a lawyer this time. Still paying off the last one haha.  But I do have a question about the I-485 AOS

Do we use the new MArried name? and put her maiden name under the previous names section?  just wondering when she can officially start using  my last name for documents.  I'm sure there is a forum on this but I can't seem to find it!

Let's hope this time around we can take all the government processes in stride and with lots of patience. At least we are together!

Hi everyone I am august filler. Can someone tell me about i134 form affidavit of suport is required question 38 to be fill out with explanation ? I found 38 question is most important but on some websites is written not for k1 visa ?

    thanks for help !!

I'm by no means an expert on this. but seems to me that This form is used for K1 Visas AND other visas, where you might be hiring a work, or maybe it's your spouse's mother, who likely won't work.  it's asking you how you will support them. room and board, an allowance? etc etc

Its not past marriages.  I was married before to a guy I brought over on a I130 (from the same country as my current fiance).  I also have been arrested (no conviction though).  I was approved within 7 months.  I really just think it's the person who has your file dragging their behind.  For example, I was approved 3/28/2018 and the NVC still doesn't have my file.  There's a guy that the NVC got his file in like a week and the same embassy mine will be processed at.  I think it's the person handling the file that the problem.

I agree. My fiance and I have crystal clear records, 3 years of photos and videos to proof our relationship, we hired a lawyer to make sure everything was in order. Maybe our processor went on a 3 month vacation or something.

  13. august filer here. I don't have any concrete evidence, but I would suggest you DONT get a service request.  That's the only explanation of why my case is taking so long.... I submitted one and my lawyer submitted 2 with out me knowing, and at 257 days still haven't heard a peep from USCIS.  even the request responses are vanilla and just tell us to wait longer. about 30 days ago we were told that an adjucator had been assigned, but nothing yet. no rfe, no denial, no approval....

They didn't say anything, after we opened the inquiry when I login the website it shows 3 messages, the third saying that on 23rd our case was assigned to an adjudicator. I have been very patient until now but Im getting frustrated at this point. My fiancee said he will call them again today. He wasnt getting to the tier 2, I told him to have a different approach this time because we are now in 225 days with no answer, just the tier 1 saying last time that now we have an inquiry and that we should wait.

The last tier 2 I talked to said the inquiries, after they were assigned to an adjucator, are taken out of the queue and reviewed, then given back to the adjucator, I've gotten a few answers like that. so not sure if you actually lose your place in line.  As @Naes said, submitting an inquiry doesn't seem to do anything about speeding up the process, they end up just giving you a cookie cutter answer, like "it's being processed" or "wait 30-90 days more" .  There isn't much oversight or accountability to this process, the USCIS makes their own deadlines and the "normal processing times" are a moving target.  You can contact the Ombudsman, but they tend to only look at cases over 60days past the normal processing times.  but they seem to be the only agency that holds the USCIS accountable, although im not sure there is any power there, seemingly they make reports and suggestions to congress about how the entire immigration system is moving and what can be improved next year.
