Just had green card interview today, approved and will arrive in 1-2 weeks

I think that everyone from vietnam are lovely, and anyone from anywhere are lovely. I don't get the big fuss about keeping Northern traditions versus southern traditions. My mom said she accepted my wife at the beginning because she was of northern decent. But then in her argument she said that my wife is actually in fact only northern blood but she does not act like a northern person. It's basically terrible emotional abuse and unjust discrimination  
 
This is funny to me because then, what do other people think of me? Im northern but i say things how I see it, and most times not "classy"

We get called cheap or stingy because we search out the best deals. Like if we are needing to buy a vacuum and have a coupon, im going to use the coupon or at least get it online where it's cheaper and it is free shipping. My mom sees this as being cheap for whatever reason. My wife and I explain to each other that we will splurge on traveling and nice food but we don't need fancy clothes or expensive things outside of experiences and making memories. We want to embody this so that one day when we have children they will understand the value of money and how to properly use it. Obviously each family has their own way of spending money. Im just so confused why this is stingy/cheap. I think of it as being smart and resourceful.

I am Vietnamese American. Born and raised here. My husband is British. We lived with my parents for the first year he moved here--we've only just recently moved as of last week actually because of my overbearing parents!
 
It was hard. Although my parents are caring and can be sweet, they can be really difficult because of their way of life. Like your mom (my mom was born and raised in the south, Saigon), my mom was very specific with a certain way and frugal. When we moved out, I got shouted about how much we were spending on our own apartment with our own money. Every time we bought groceries, when we lived there--we were scolded about how much we were spending and wasting.
 
My advice? Move out. It is a struggle financially but you don't have to put up with the strain anymore. It got toxic in the house. The last week we were there, my parents blew up at us because my parents didn't like that we cooked in the house (it made it stink) and my dad threatened to throw us out. Never did he dream that we'd actually move out. Since we've moved out, it's been a blessing.

Pretty casual, I came from work, didn't dress fancy.
Asked how we met, what we do for fun, if we traveled anywhere, if we go out to eat, our favorite places.
 
Smooth. I'd put more money in parking because I had to pop out to put in more money (or use the app) and then they called during the time I was out at the meter, but it was fine.

Pay stubs, shared credit cards, shared health insurance just mainly things on the petitioners side. We didn't bring pictures and we're able to show the interviewer on our phone. Pretty straight forward

If you already have the AP card then why would you get the stamp in your passport???? That doesn't make any sense whatsoever. But you will be fine to travel with just the combo card right now until the GC arrives.

Got approved for EAD AND AP!!!! 

This might be a stupid question but on our adjustment application we checked that we want a social security number to be issued- when in the process does this get issued? (we went to the social security administration office about a week after my wife got here but was told she was not in the system yet) then later they mailed us a note after our K1 expired that they could not give us one because our documents were expired. Total waste of time but curious if we will get one since we marked the box in the application- anyone have luck with this?

Yes you will get it after EAD approval. And if it doesnt come in the mail (unlikely) you can visit SSA with your EAD and reapply. It will be approved because you would then have legal status again.

Sometimes it takes a week or more to have the status change to "card mailed" etc. If not you will get a notice in the mail saying its approved and then your card shortly after.

Same site, my.uscis.gov, desktop view.  I find it more effective than the app for adding multiple cases and checking the history.
