New Question specifically for Vietnam (not sure if there's a difference) travel.  Does she still have to apply for a Visa?  Is it any different then me applying as US Citizen/Passport holder?

Make sure to book the ticket using your wife's name on her Vietnamese passport, if different from the GC name.  Many Vietnamese have their names in mangled order on their GC.  List the name exactly as it appears on her passport, regardless of how it is listed on her GC.
 

@Crazy Cat  She has not applied for Citizenship yet.  Was mainly concern about what is needed when exiting and entering US ports.
 
Follow-Up ?...  She's technically still a Vietnamese Citizen so would she still have to apply for Visa to enter Vietnam? 

1) Make sure her Vietnamese passport has at least 6+ months of validity at the time of travel. Many countries won't accept passport even if it's valid but has less than 6 months left.
2) Make sure she has her expired green card and valid, original extension letters for travel
3) Check visa policies for all the countries you're going to visit or transit through. Some may require transit or visit visa.
4) Check COVID restrictions (I know, it's 2023 but still...)

This is the truest statement.  2wks I can deal with.  That 6 1/2 month wait was agonizing!

Hi. My case says it is "In Transit" too. Though, underneath it says "Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center". What does it mean? I thought I was supposed to schedule the interview once the visa arrives to the embassy.

HI A_R details pl.. it helps our case too. Im also on the similar timeline with few weeks gap. How did you know the case number?
 

In transit this morning

Hi. My case is now in Transit as well. It says an interview date has been provided by the National Visa Center. What does that mean? I already scheduled an interview using the information I found on other peoples timelines from my country.
 
 
Also. My fiancee went to her medical today and they turned her away because she did not have an invitation from the embassy with the interview date on it. So now I guess I have to reschedule that. We gave them a copy of the confirmation page on the CGI federal website and they were perplexed on how we scheduled it without embassy invite first.
 
 
How should I proceed? My interview is October 18th.

In Transit! I haven't gotten an email yet but I checked the CEAC case tracker and its on its way! We got our case number on the 18th so its been a long 2 weeks haha
