I live in Austin. But, San Antonio is my local FO. My PD is Feb 02, 2018

I just received my status update today - also check my signature.

Yours was pretty darn quick! Lucky you...
Now the wait is on for EAD/AP.

Need to get my I-693 done in the meanwhile...

I thought i got things fairly quickly too. I hope i get my EAD/AP soon. I know that case scheduled in generic and it can be months before an actual interview is scheduled. Once i get the work permit id be happy.

If you do not have a degree in it and you are looking to move into the field relatively quickly there are ways you can do that. Start by either going to school like a community college for some schooling or you can do something like Technology Training Center like: https://www.mycomputercareer.edu/ . My coworker does not have his degree in IT or Computer Science but he did go to this school which helped him start somewhere as a simple Desktop Support and now he has worked his way up to be the junior guy in my office doing Information Security.

Yes, it is hard work and I won't tell you otherwise but there are big rewards if you are willing to put the time and effort into making yourself succeed. Also you should feel lucky because you are within driving distance to be able to move either to San Antonio or Houston which are 2 areas you can get decent jobs in the IT field.

Thanks. Me and my wife are planning on moving to Houston where her family lives as soon as I get my GC in hand (She hates it down here). Tbh I would probably go and do the associates in network support and information security or a cisco specialization. I don't know yet exactly what in IT would be my main focus. I just want to get my feet wet. I did Aircraft Maintenance at my school but looking for another career/trade. I just want to make sure that I wont waste my time getting an associates that wont get me even an interview.

This is a very personal opinion and it will varie not only from the country, but state, city etc.....Will take my case as an example. I have been in IT for about 12 years. Completed bachelors degree in my country and had a few IT certificates (Microsoft, Dell, EMC etc)...It took me about two months to get a job in US.

Like you said, if you are just starting out in IT, although I believe that some of the IT certifications like CISSP, CCIE, VCP and others sometimes have a higher value than a degree I still also believe that if you dont have at least an associate degree in your resume, it is very hard to get any job. So I would start by enrolling for an associate or full 4 year degree and if you can manage the time study and get some IT certificates as well.

Note that I am not taking in consideration which area within IT you are talking about, it could be infrastructure, security, programming etc....I hope it helps.

    Good luck

    Thanks for your input

I wish I could explain more, even we are confused as to what she means by that. In her response (we communicated via email), she stated that "they have an anti-fraud team" and that since hubby is Indian and I am not, and hubby's visa expired, that may be the reasons why we're seeing the status of ready for an interview.

I know USCIS has some anti-fraud stuff going on, but I don't know if suspicion of fraud is a reason why our interview date could be sooner than later.

There are people who filed in 2017 who still haven't had an interview date so....

I filed from Atlanta, GA.... went to NBC in Chicago.

Interesting. I am an F1 student in current status and me and my wife are from the same country same age etc lived together from last year at same place etc. I dont see why they would suspect fraud in my case. My country is far from a high fraud country as well.

I actually have the same timeline as you! Yesterday hubby got an email that case is ready to be scheduled for an interview. We asked our lawyer why so early and she said that USCIS has some fraud detection team so maybe that's why we got it early (hes Indian and I am Hispanic.  His F1 expired June 28th but USCIS received documents before his status expired)? Hubby hasn't done medical yet but we will have to do it soon.

Fraud detection? Care to explain a bit more ? Also what is your field office?

June 25 — Package delivered at Chicago Lock Box

July 3 — Got text and email notifications (late, around 9PM)

July 5 — Both cheques cashed

July 9 —  Received notice of acceptance receipt in the mail

July 16 — Received Biometrics request for July 24th, 8AM apt

July 24 — Showed up at opening, and was out and done by 8:10AM. Everyone was surprisingly nice. One thing I didn't even think about was that I had a small paper cut on my thumb. The girl said that if it was deep I'd have to reschedule, but it was fine.

July 25 — status for I-765 and I-485 changed to "Fingerprint Review Was Completed"

I have 2 small cuts on both my thumbs due to my nature of work hopefully i wont have to reschedule as I am driving 2 hrs to go to my bio tomorrow.

Doesn't mean you can't, it's just illegal. If you only knew how many citations I issue a day or even in a week for people driving without a license, or a suspended license it is insane. I always love the look I get when I ask for license and registration and they know they don't have a license. I'm usually pretty good about it and give them a chance to get a licensed driver to come pick up the car, I don't want them to get hit with towing and impound fees, but plenty of people drive cars without a license. I'm sure lots of people work without authorization as well, probably driving without a license to the job they are not authorized to work at. LOL

LOL ! Stay safe sir ! What Dept are you with?

Wow, that's strange. I'm not from Texas obviously, but good to know. But if you get stopped by law enforcement and they check the serial number on the gun and it doesn't come back to you I would think you would have problems. When they run mine it obviously comes back registered to me, and away I go, no issues.

In Texas there is no gun registry. You dont have to register a firearm. Even when you sell one you dont need to go through an FFl or have it transferred, you can just sell it with a bill of sale. If you get stopped, the police will run the gun to see if it is stolen if they have suspicion. Many people sells guns with just a bill of sale here.

You have to be the registered owner of the gun you carry. Carrying right now at the dentist office, lol. But in Nevada you can have dual registration on a gun ( you can register it in both your names) then either person can carry it. I am sure it is the same in Texas, they are a pretty gun friendly state. Here it takes 3-4 months after your class to get the permit so the sooner you take the class the sooner you can go apply for it. I think Texas has limited open carry also, you might still need a permit even to open carry if memory serves, but they have a rural open carry law of some sort. Do a little research or ask at a reputable gun dealer that offers the class. Some will give you the class for free if you buy a gun there.

Dont have to be the owner of gun to carry it, at least in Texas.
