Yes it's normal.  Many people wait several months before an actual date is scheduled.  All depends on the field office and how heavy their caseload is.

Derik-Lina reacted to JFH in Current proposal's effect on pending applications?
No one knows anything at this stage, which is why google isn't helping you to find an answer. Such details have not yet been disclosed (and probably not even been discussed yet).

However, based on past history of immigration reforms, all pending cases were closed and fees were refunded.

The only thing you can do if you want to live with your parents without being a US citizen is move to where your parents live.

Derik-Lina reacted to geowrian in USCIS service center?
Service centers are not supposed to be based on location. USCIS field offices are. Field offices can conduct interviews, so they need to be near the petitioner/applicant. Service centers don't conduct interviews, so there's no benefit to having them located near the petitioner/applicant.

The exact rules for how they determine which service center gets a case is a black box. Supposedly it's based on internal rules to help with their processing load and priorities.

Derik-Lina reacted to Khallaf in USCIS service center?
they are suppose to be determined by location, however I don't think they are, I think they just pull them random and send them out to the service centers, at least you got Potomac

Derik-Lina reacted to geowrian in Got divorce 7yrs ago does my old i-130 erase from USCIS archives
The ban due to overstay caps at 10 years. The wait for the PD to become current for a sibling from Mexico is ~20 years. So they could leave the US to wait out the bar.

I highly recommend getting married and doing the CR-1. It ll take 12 to 14 months and with DOB  correction, you should be just fine and let s hope
for a an I-130 visa in hand in less than one year. Good luck.

Advice or opinion can be either positive or negative. Sorry but reality and truth are not always to our side.
That said; A tough road is ahead of you two, and I highly recommend you go it Married and not Engaged.
An attorney is your best bet to file an I-601 and once a waiver is granted, you may save some money and file the I-130 on your own. Unfortunately, Honduras is considered a dangerous Gang Zone, and the USCIS does some serious screenings including looking at tattoos and any Gang Affiliation indicators. But, If your husband to be can prove, with the help of a seasoned attorney, that he crossed as the only option to escape death, you have a great chance to reunite here in much quicker time than many might say here in the group. Buena Suerte

Derik-Lina reacted to JFH in Canada and Western Europe new procedures
I think the point he is making is why doesn't USCIS and DHS fast-track immigrants from so-called "low fraud" countries such as Canada, Western Europe, Australia, New Zealand, etc where the applicants have no economic advantage to move to the USA and are statistically more likely to be moving for love, not a green card. This would free up resources and employees to focus on others and thus speed up the process for all. I can see his line of thinking. But I can also see the problem in that they could face a discrimination suit when petitioner A sues because his wife from country X was processed a lot slower than the British/Canadian/Swedish etc wife of petitioner B.

I will assume he speaks Spanish and he is the beneficiary. If that s the case, the CO might ask that the benificiary interviews in English to demonstrate how he communicates with the petitioner, and to prove, even furthermore, that the relationship is legit.

Geowrian's post above is correct. Moroccan passport photos are not the same (2 x 2 inch) standard as American passport photos. However my when my husband had his photos done in Morocco we simply told the photographer that we needed them to be 2 x 2 and meet the standards as listed in the post above and they complied.

I think your most urgent matter right now (since you are going next week) is the police record. You need to have the police record before you can be legally married in Morocco, and it can take several weeks or months for you to receive it. I'd go inquire at your local police department today if you don't already have it.

Passport photos are not standard worldwide. They must US-style passport photos, which are 2x2 and meet certain requirements. From the instructions:

"The photos must have a white to off-white background, be printed on thin paper with a glossy finish, and be unmounted and unretouched.

The two identical color passport-style photos must be 2 by 2 inches. The photos must be in color with full face, frontal view on a white to off-white background. Head height should measure 1 to 1 3/8 inches from top of hair to bottom of chin, and eye height is between 1 1/8 to 1 3/8 inches from bottom of photo. Your head must be bare unless you are wearing headwear as required by a religious denomination of which you are a member. Using a pencil or felt pen, lightly print your name and A-Number (if any) on the back of the photo"

am not sure lol I just feel my luck will pan out that way. Don t mind me, but I am just frustrated and I am expecting anything even the unexpected such as the RFE. I did put everything and anything they asked for with more information such as tax returns and letters from Employer lol I am OCD like that, but OCD comes with anxiety too.
