Is anyone here using an affidavit of support from any friends and family? We have a roommate who we've lived with for over 2 years and she's really close to both of us so she written one for me. I always feel like maybe they don't carry that much weight seeing how anyone could write one but I'm also thinking why not? 😬
Picked up my medical form today, added some last minute documents to my pile and now we just count down! 🙏🏼

From what I've seen that's pretty standard (I honestly can't remember if we got that paper but I *think* we did?!?!?) and then the update changed the next day. My guess is yours does the same. It seems that for most people they like to leave you with a little "we will let you know" but if there were any problems, they would have brought them up in the interview. Congrats!

Good news for us as well. Interview Scheduled as of January 13th. We are in San Francisco so I wasn't even expecting to hear from them until late June.

We have a trip planned to Thailand for my cousin's wedding at the end of may so hopefully everything is done well before then.

I literally was on here yesterday to check up on how things are going, its been a few months, today my wife messages me and asked me if I was sitting down. XD.

At my medical right now. A tip is to find out (if you have health insurance) if your insurance would cover a blood test for tb. Uscis does not accept skin tests for tb and had i known i would have at least checked w my insurance to see if they cover the test.

Here's a breakdown of my cost

    Physical exam: $160
Venipuncture (to draw the blood): $16
    Urinalysis: $10
    TB: $190
    RBR (syphilis): $40
    Gonorrhea: $70
    Specimen handling: $16

    Total: $502

He said to come back in a few days for the paperwork to be completed. He'll give me a waiver for the vaccines I don't need.

OMG my husband and I were just talking about you because he went to Ireland for the holidays and when he came back it reminded me that I had no idea whether you were ever able to come back!! I'm SOOOOO sorry for all of this mayhem. Beyond horrible. Obviously too easy to say, but, it's only money (sigh). And at least you are well versed in hounding the government for answers, so I'm praying for a quick rescheduling of your GC appointment. What a nightmare.

So, to update on this - my stolen AP card in mid-November.   The US Embassy don't help non-greencard holders.  There isn't a standard USCIS process for handling the exceptional case of lost AP cards.  USCIS Customer support advised me - incorrectly - to submit a 131a to the Embassy - which is a request for a lost greencard.   The USCIS international office in London intervened to cancel this application - after I had pad $550.  London then facilitated me to re-apply for an AP card using 131 again, but via the express "Humanitarian" office.  Another $550, stating my reasons for humanitarian needs ("theft").  They said the process would take a few weeks.   But figuring all that out was an incredibly stressful week, with lots of steps that I can't even bother documenting.

However, the Humanitarian approval wasn't issued in time for my flight!  So I just went to Dublin airport with my AP card photocopies, police report etc.  I had already advised the airline that I would be doing this.  The checkin supervisor allowed me to checkin - without referring to any US authorities.  But in Dublin US immigration happens before you fly, so I guess that makes the airline more open to this.  At immigration, they reviewed my issue and admitted me.  Warned me that I could not travel again without a re-entry doc (eg another AP card, or greencard).

Two days after arriving back in USA, Humanitarian communicated that they had approved my 131 application and that I should visit an Embassy to collect a one-off "boarding foil" to allow me to re-enter.   The same doc that USCIS London had intervened to prevent in the first place!  Lets just say I know how to spell bureaucracy!

In the middle of the crisis we were called to our green-card interview for mid December.  This was 8 months after applying, instead of the 14 months projected.  Luckily it was scheduled for 2 days after my scheduled arrival. I included that info in the Humanitarian application.

HOWEVER, when we attended for interview in Dallas we were told that they couldn't proceed.  They said our file was locked elsewhere.  Turns out, it had been sent to the Humanitarian office.  USCIS Dallas didn't  understand what had happened until we explained.  They didn't have any clear advice on what to do next, just told us to go away and try calling our congressman! We reached out to various offices asking for the file to be returned to Dallas, and in the end it arrived back in Dallas a the end of December.  No-one can tell us how long we will now have to wait for Dallas to get around to scheduling a new interview.  Or worst case, they forget it because its in another exception case that they don't have a process for handling.

So Im down $2200 - $1100 to US Govt depts, $500 to airline for rescheduling, $600 for a replacement phone.  The thief got a phone which Apple bricked.  And I got my greencard interview cancelled. for more delays.  I think the Irish expression "sweet mother of Jesus" is applicable.

Just had our interview in Houston a couple of hours ago and we were approved on the spot! The status on the USCIS website has already changed to “new card is being produced”.

The officer was extremely friendly and didn’t ask us many questions. He just briefly scrolled through our wedding album and guestbook, and then asked us for some loose pictures that he could add to our folder. We didn’t even have to show him the copy of our new lease or any new evidence.

Now we just have to sit tight and wait for the card in the mail. And since we’ve been married for almost 3 years they just gave me the 10 year green card! I am so glad we were able to breeze through the interview and that we don’t have to go through this process again.

For those still waiting just hang tight!

We just finished our green card interview in Houston this morning. Everything went well except that the NVC forgot to send my husband's confidential medical packet to the Houston field office. Happens every now and then, our officer said; and it's pretty true from some of the stories here on VJ. So our status has changed to "Interview Was Completed and My Case Must Be Reviewed".

Still, we breathed a sigh of relief that we passed the interview! Now we just need them to complete the packet so they can approve and produce the green card. The officer said it should be within 30 days. I just hope it's not truly missing and that they only forgot to send it. If it had been anything else, we would have had a copy because I saved everything, but the confidential medical packet is surrendered at the port of entry so we have no way of making copies of it.

As for the interview itself, my husband was nervous but the officer only asked him the basics -- when did he enter the US; when did we get married; our current address; and the usual questions about terrorism, criminal acts, etc. As long as you've got the basics down, you should be fine!

Can't figure out how to get rid of the quote box ⬆️⬆️😂

Made it back to the US! 3 hours in customs and 20 minutes in secondary inspection but the officer was very friendly and made jokes. Didn't ask for anything else but the AP and passport. My 22 hours travel day is about to come to an end, I can't wait to be home with my husband and dog!

Hi everyone! Thought I'd check in from Virginia. We're still waiting for our interview to be scheduled. It's been 290 days since we filed our AOS. I've tried to keep as busy with work and friends as possible to not think about the wait so much but I'm definitely starting to get a little impatient. Although I knew that my wait was going to be at least about a year or so given the wait times at our LFO. Hope everyone has a great holiday season filled with interview and approval notices!!

My husband was in Ireland and we got notice that the interview was scheduled. He came back with the AP no problems and didn't show anything else. They honestly could barely have cared and just checked in the system and then stamped him and he was on his way. You'll be fine and CONGRATS!

    Hi Everyone,

This website and the people who are on it and moderate it have made the immigration process so much less intimidating.

Thanks to the information I have learnt on this site I managed to secure my SSN and driving licence waaaaaay before my EAD, making the transition into a new country so much easier.  All without the help of the ludicriously priced lawyers.

We recently got the text from USCIS saying our status changed. Looks like we'll be getting the Interview date in the mail. I'm so surprised since we are doing it through the San Jose office and it can take up to 2 years. So we're a little anxious and dying to know when. But about how far from the notice are interviews scheduled out?

Hope everyone is doing okay who didn’t have the interview yet (like me).
So I just checked the processing time and it went down!!! It was like 15 months for Santa Ana and now it’s only 11,5 months!
hopefully all of us gonna get a nice interview scheduled for Christmas!

It’s an I-797 notice of action for I131 application for travel document. But based on the received date (8/8) it is his emergency AP that they already gave him and he already used in August!!! It says they have approved his application and the travel document will be mailed to him separately. He has a green card now..:so this literally makes NO sense at all lol

Today on our 1st year wedding anniversary, we received great news that our AOS case was approved. We had our interview 6th November which went really well. Our case was approved later the same day but they only emailed me this morning. So happy that this stage is complete. All the best to everyone. Thanks for all your help 😊😊
