I hate the tax system here. Back home, when you earn below the minimum taxable income, you don't get taxed. Over here, when you make minimum wage, you still get taxed to death. And if you live in a piggyback state like GA, tax is even worse. Everything is taxed including last year's tax refund like #######??? Don't even get me started on the healthcare system. It's like a Wall Street business, so unscrupulous.

Like you, I'm considering taking up driving. However, people around Atlanta are horrible drivers too. That terrifies the sh-t out of me. I always joke as soon as I take my new car out for a drive after passing, I'd get into an accident not because I'm not being careful, rather a more experienced driver acts like a menace. Haha!

A couple of years ago, I had a Lyft driver who asked me if it wasn't for my husband, would I still go through the immigration process solely for the GC and it was a really loud h3ll no from me. I was set back home. Starting over when you're not 18 is a pain in the back.

Wishing you all the best!! :)

We somewhat "regret" doing the K1->AOS->ROC. We were both living in Mexico and loving it. Being back here hasn't been what I had expected at all.

You can use your time to organize the extras that you have while waiting to hear from USCIS. If they ask for more or an interview later (touch wood!), your ducks would be in a row already :)  I'm so glad that I do not need to kill more trees, putting together an immigration package until I decide to file for citizenship years down the road though I'm eligible by Q4 2021. After spending $680 for a 10-year GC, I'm definitely milking the GC for its worth. LOL.

at this time, my husband has no desire to get US citizenship. He is from Sweden, and has a "better" passport then ours. And he hates the political atmosphere here, so doesn't want to be tied to such negativity. Shoot, there were times when I was living in Mexico, I would tell ppl I was Canadian.

So I'm one of those packet frontloaders from the beginning of my immigration journey. I know some people say it is unnecessary but I frontload in hopes to avoid the dreaded RFEs causing unwanted delays. Please don't laugh at my list :)

EXHIBIT A - Payment, Cover Letter & Original USCIS Forms

    • Check
    • G-1145
    • Cover letter
    • Original I-751 completed form

    EXHIBIT B - I-751 Petitioner/Conditional Permanent Resident's Government Issued Identifications

    • Copy of 2-year GC
    • Copy of EAD
    • Copy of GA state ID (for most people, this would have been their state issued DL)
    • Copy of Social Security card
    • Copy of unexpired foreign passport biographical page
    • Copy of expired foreign passport biographical page that was previously used for I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD and AP
    • Copy of foreign birth certificate + original English translation

    EXHIBIT C - U.S. Citizen Spouse's Government Issued Identifications

    • Copy of USC Spouse's GA state DL
    • Copy of USC Spouse's passport biographical page
    • Copy of USC Spouse's U.S. birth certificate
    • Copy of USC Spouse's Social Security card

EXHIBIT D - USCIS & NVC Issued Notices

    • This part may not be necessary for real but I still attached all my notices from Day 1 to show every immigration step that my husband and I had taken to illustrate the complete journey to the adjudicating officer. The officer probably has access to these but hey, why make them dig for it when they can see it all in my stack?

EXHIBIT E - Taxation & Other Government Related Documents

    • Certified copy of GA marriage license
    • 2017 federal joint tax return transcript
    • 2017 GA state joint tax return
    • Copy of USC Spouse's 2017 W-2
    • 2018 federal joint tax return transcript
    • 2018 GA state joint tax return
    • Copy of my 2018 W-2
    • Copy of USC Spouse's 2018 W-2
    • 2019 federal joint tax return transcript
    • 2019 GA state joint tax return
    • Copy of my 2019 W-2
    • Copy of USC Spouse's 2019 W-2
    • Copy of IRS Notice 1444 on COVID-19 Economic Income Payment

    EXHIBIT F - Household Accounts

    • Printout of joint checking account statement summary for November 2017 to December 2020 (Literally from the time we opened the account till the time I filed for ROC. I only ever given the first page for every month because printing every page for each month would have been too much although it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to send in full monthly statements for the adjudicating officer to see the money movements of the joint account.)
    • Printout of USC Spouse's Progressive auto insurance and coverage page showing me as list-only driver
    • Printout of T-Mobile account summary listing the both of us as call plan users
    • Printout of Gas South profile showing me as one of the primary contacts
    • Printout of Georgia Power profile account summary showing me as the secondary contact
    • Printout of Charter Spectrum account settings page showing me as a standard role user
    • Copy of Costco membership renewal mailers from 2018 to 2020 listing me as a household member
    • Copy of new AARP membership cards for the both of us

EXHIBIT G - Employee Benefits & Beneficiary Elections

    • Copy of previous years' health insurance cards
    • Copy of current year's health insurance cards
    • Copy of USC Spouse's health insurance enrollment and beneficiary elections
    • Printout of my 401k beneficiary election page
    • Printout of my other employee benefits and beneficiary elections summary from ADP
    • Printout of USC Spouse's 401k beneficiary election page
    • Printout of USC Spouse's life insurance beneficiary election page

    EXHIBIT H - Travels

    • For every trip (and if applicable), I attached the flight booking confirmation, flight boarding passes for roundtrip, hotel booking confirmation. I did not attach anything else related to these travels other than making sure to include a photo for each trip as part of the photo collection (in Exhibit I) that I sent in.

    EXHIBIT I - Correspondences & Photographs

    • Affidavit of support by sister-in-law
    • Affidavit of support by my manager
    • Cards and letters received from family, friends and neighbors addressed to the both of us from 2017 to 2020
    • Our outgoing Christmas cards from 2017 to 2020
    • Collection of photographs from 2015 to 2020 (This covers the time we dated till ROC submission. I selected a few pictures here and there from the whole duration and made sure to include photos that could prove where we said we traveled to (RE: Exhibit H))

This may seem over the top but it worked for me. I've never received an RFE. I agree quality over quantity is more important. However, we will never know what kind of officer our case file would be assigned to. Some people submitted a fraction of what I did and got approved just fine. Some people submitted lots of stuff (similar stuff to what I sent in) but their case officer somehow still deemed it to be insufficient.

For future ROC applicants, do your research and collect the best evidence for your paperwork and make sure it covers every year that you have been together. There's nothing wrong to submit more. I'm a firm believer of submitting more than less that way a picky officer would already have almost everything that I could have possibly sent in.

DAMN!!!! I wish this could have been posted months ago :) Looking at this, I should have sent a lot of what you did. I am normally an "over-thinker" and provided more then needed/expected, and I feel I missed the boat on this one

Thank you so much 🙌 I'm glad all the hard work I put into the paperwork paid off.

My service center is SRC. Online tracker was stuck on 'Case was received' up until it switched to 'New card being produced' this morning. In between, I only received the biometrics waiver in the mail and the online tracker never said anything about 'Finger prints reapplied' and I was worried for a good minute.

I hope your case move forward soon 🤞

My husbands stuff is at LIN. Seems the staff has all quit. I read somewhere there wasn't much movement there since October(ish) and it was once a "fast" office

Hi! I also received NOA1 from the EAC center on 01/11/2021, Application received 11/20/2020 and NO biometrics notice yet..

I've called USCIS few times because I've seen other December cases from EAC are getting biometrics but the calls were useless haha they told me to keep checking the my USCIS website.. which I was already doing. But hopefully we'll hear something back soon!

Yeah, there are no timelines that we can refer to. It's a sit back at wait game at this point. This process is much like watching, waiting for water to boil. As long as "you" have your extension letter, "you" are winning. I hate this wait just like the next person, but I feel calling USCIS just adds to the frustration cause you hardly ever get the answer you want.

    Dear Group,

I write with a very heavy heart.  My beloved wife came to the US on a K-1 visa in June 2020.  We married immediately and filed the whole I-485 packet including all the supporting forms and received the NOAs for all.  While waiting for the AOS interview, she died from covid and that has pretty much destroyed my life.  I called the USCIS hotline for advice on how best to withdraw the application, but they seemed very befuddled and recommended that I file form I-140 (which has nothing do with withdrawing a petition -- completely wrong) with the center that is handling my case.  They gave me an address based on my zip code, but I'm questioning if that's correct based on their recommendation of an incorrect form.

I just got notice yesterday that the AOS interview has been scheduled and a notice has been sent out.  Should I wait for this notice and then send a letter with a copy of the notice and death certificate to the address on the notice.  That seems to make the most sense.  Thank you for any advice.  Normally I would be able to figure this stuff out on my own (we got this far . . .), but my brain is very muddled these days.  My apologies.

    Thank you,

    Mark

I don't have much to add to what to do with USCIS, but I wanted to offer you my DEEPEST sympathies and healing vibes. I can't imagine the hurt you are going through with her just arriving.

Please i will like to ask, i submitted my I-751 removal of condition application at Texas Service Centre in December 31, 2020. Am still waiting for notice from USCIS. Is anyone here with an idea of what is really going on because my green card elapses today. Please i need your contribution.

    Thanks.

It is taking 6-8 weeks to get a response about the extension letter...(it can be longer or shorter) My husbands green card expired while waiting and it's ok. It happens to many. The only thing that negative is that many states ID's/DL's expire as well (like my husbands did) and you can't seek new employment. That's pretty much  the only worries.

    Thanks!

So, let me ask this, to see if I get it:

Instead of including my completed tax returns, I should request tax transcripts from the years that I have and include those with the application?

They do not want the actual return. Only send transcripts

    Hi again!

I have gone ahead to create an account and it all worked fine. I selected "immigration" as the reason to download them and I was suggested to download the "Return Transcripts". I just did that for 2017, 2018 and 2019. I'm assuming 2020 will not be ready until we file our tax returns for them to process it. That will take a while so I am not including 2020. I hope that's enough.

2020 Tax filing deadline isn't until mid April. Unless they are done, they don't expect many to send them "this early". You're fine with 2017-2019

All right, so I got new information:

I was just told that our apartment will be ready for us to move in on March 1st, 2021. With that being said, they will be providing us with the new lease either today or tomorrow. So, my question is:

Will it be fine for me to put the new address on the form? Also, even though we will not move in until March 1st, will that be OK? I know it currently takes about 6 weeks or so to get the NOA.

I'm asking because I want to send in the package no later than this week so that we gain some time. I do not want to wait until March 1st because that make me waste two weeks!

That's a tough one for me. It seems like it would make sense to use the new lease with both names, but if the date of the lease isn't until March 1st, I would almost wait until THAT day to mail the packet. That's just me. I would hate for such a good piece of evidence not be accepted since the date hasn't arrived when the packet is mailed.

Just thought I would update with ours. Received Dec 24th, we had the payment taken and 18 month extension received about a week ago! So about six weeks turnaround. My CDL has been extended the full 18 months with PennDOT, that was relatively straightforward and had been my major concern! Now to see whether we get the call for biometrics or a waiver.

Thank you all for allaying my fears a few weeks ago 🙂

Where about's in PA are you? Just curious. We're in Delco

We were wondering as well how quickly was it so my husband called the bank to find out which check was being processed by USCIS and it was the first check we sent. It means that our first packet finally came to AZ. The USCIS agent we talked last 1/25 told us that the first packet was denied and their going to send it back to our home address that’s why we sent a second packet on 1/28. Now, we have 2 packets in USCIS offices. We actually cancelled the first check and paid the cancellation fee and then made a new check for the second packet. Good thing is my husband was able to fix this just an hour ago and the bank didn’t charge us for canceling the 2nd check. At 2:30 pm the $680 finally taken from our bank. Sorry for the confusion. We have been contacting the USCIS about my first packet and no proper information I am getting.

    Packet Received: 11/13/2020

    Check Cashed: 2/11/2021

Unbelievable!! We rely so much on the information they tell us, and that agent really dropped the ball giving you those details. I am so glad you were able to get it all cleared up.

I am supposed to be a November filer but due to a mistake I made which I sent my packet to Lewisville Texas not in Arizona my application is now in February filer since I sent a 2nd packet. The first one was denied due to a wrong address I sent the packet and still waiting for it to get back here in my home address.

    Packet sent: 1/28/2021

    Packet Received:2/1/2021

    Check Cashed: 2/11/2021

    Waiting for NOA now.

That is REALLLLY fast for them to receive the packet and cash the check . Are you sure they are returning your other packet, and they didn't forward it to the correct place? They do that for many others.

Oh I understand the process. But I want to ensure the biometrics appointment is waived before the travel. I'd hate for them to start doing biometric appointments again and we already booked the travel. I know the final interview or not is probably a year off.... and that letter about biometrics generally comes pretty quick. I see informed delivery has something today they couldn't image, and they don't always image govt letters, so maybe today? Lol just getting my hopes up.

They haven't stopped doing biometrics. Those that are getting waivers are typically, like my husband, came on a K1 (there are others) and had a biometrics and interview as part of the Adjustment of Status process. Even then, I am sure plenty of ppl are getting biometrics and interviews....again. There is not real telling, until you get your stuff specifically.

One more question and sorry if it's obvious, but I want to make sure:

Do I have to add copies of our birth certificates like we did the first time during the AOS? Or do we just send copies of our IDs, marriage certificate, Social Security card? If not, what has to be included?

Sorry if this is an obvious question, but I rather be obvious than negligent.

    Thanks!

I sent in a copy of his Green Card, both of our Drivers License's. It never mentioned passport, ss card Birth certificate or marriage certificate on USCIS website for ROC evidence. But you can send in as much as you want. More is better then less.
