No I have not received it yet. My driver's license expires  on July 19th with the GC, so I am hoping the NOA1 comes in time before that

That's a bummer. Probably same issue as all others where USCIS sees on their system that it's been sent but it really hasn't been. Wait until a month I think (they mention it on the status) and then submit a non-receipt request online. That's what I would do.

Also- when I check my case on USCIS site, I just see that my case was received and that if I don't get the receipt notice by July 2, I should call/email- does that mean the NOA or just that lil ol' text with my case number?

that means if you have not received your NOA (paper notice) by July 2, you can submit a non-delivery request online.

I might find my own answer. It says do not highlight on section form. So I guess highlighting some on bank statement and evidences may be ok.

I am trying to make the officers life easier lol as my bank statements are about 300 pages! Lol

I did this...and then when i reviewed it I saw this filing tip so i reprinted everything (was not too bad since i already scanned an exact replica of my packet). however, i did try and scan the page with the highlighted sections using my (12-year old) scanner and it turned out just fine (everything was visible) so...

so it says If you have any attachments, make sure each attached page has your name and A-Number (if any). You may also number the pages and include the total amount of pages being attached (for example, “page 1 of 11”).

does it mean we need to put A number on each pages ?? I have like at least 400 pages.

I did. I bought a stamp off Amazon with my name and A number and stamped every single page.

Yes you can, does not matter if it’s a conditional green card or not.
Is yours still valid? If so, try to do it before it expires. You need to file a form and go to the social security office (which I hope are open), see more info here.

thanks and yes, it's still valid (expires 8/29/20) but the offices are closed for in person transactions and changing the text on the card requires an in person transaction. :(

If you have a new job, you don't need to ever present the green card. A state ID/license and an unrestricted social security card together are proof of eligibility, see acceptable documents. They are not allowed to demand a specific type of document to prove your status:

The problem arises for people who either don't have an unrestricted SS card because they didn't change it after AOS, or have their license expire with the green card.

thanks for this info. could one get an unrestricted SS card with just a green card? what about a conditional green card? wish i knew about this when i finished my AOS and i could have tried to do it then, now it is too late.

So with the i-751, what is the first most important event?  Is it receiving the NOA?  Because I know once you have the NAO letter along with the PR card means it's extended for 18 months.

Yep, agree on NOA, because that is the official documentation that your application has been accepted, plus its proof of your LPR status.

"How long does it take to get the NAO from the date of fingerprints carried over or added?"

Used to be around 2 weeks mark from the received date of the application, with some exceptions ie taking a bit longer than that (~a month).

An appointment notice to appear for biometrics or in the case of biometrics being added to the case without the need to appear in person, a notice stating that, usually arrives after the first NOA. However, if you look at the April and May filers groups, a lot has reported not receiving their first NOAs till date but they have received their biometrics addition notices already.

I wonder if the 13-18 months (some service centers are at 27 months) is to actually to lift the condition or process the new PR card or is it just to receive the NAO2?

No, I don't think so. Or at least, I don't think the actual act of "lifting the conditions" is a months long process. I am assuming (and I could be wrong), that it is just a matter of extending the expiration date of the status in the system. As in somebody actually logging in and clicking a few buttons here and there. Now, that may take a few hours or even days for the changes to propagate into the whole system but certainly not months. Unless the other scenario that I could this of is, if their system is not digital and somebody actually has to fill out a form for each case, send that to some other department, they vet it there and then return the form with a decision to the case officer. Depending on how long that process is, that *may* take months. There are also I would imagine background checks built into that time frame and who knows how long those take. "Processing the new PR card" takes days not months, as evidenced by the production process of new green cards. After the AOS interviews for example, most people get their cards in the mail after a few days. I really do think majority of the wait time is just the file sitting in a queue until an actual person gets to it.

Which reminded me, the DMV is a great example. You wait in the queue for hours, only for your transaction to take less than 5 minutes!

Why is it when I go on the USCIS site and click on Processing Time, it shows the I-751 applications are taking 13.5 - 18 months.  People on here are waiting around 20 days from sending their applications to getting their fingprints applied.  I am kind of confused for what is taking 13 to 18 months?  Is it from applying fingerprints to receiving their NOA?  I am kind of confused

i'm interested to learn this as well. i think upon receipt of the application they obviously do some work on it (e.g. scanning, processing the fee, assigning service center and case numbers, sending receipts and notifications). sometimes like what we are seeing now, they schedule or apply biometrics around the same time. and then after all that is done, i don't know what they do with it until the next time they "touch" the case again (ie interview, approval, etc). i assume it just sits on a pile somewhere waiting for its turn on someone's desk?

Had a client that lost their passports and needed to get a Boarding Foil for their child that had no middle name.   Boarding Foil listed was Lastname, Firstname None.

US born guy that works for me also has no middle name.   His passport and birth certificate lists his middle name as NMN = no middle name.

Omg, this is both funny and my nightmare brought to life.

  11. i know these tips have been around forever like the poster above said. don't get me wrong, this is definitely helpful. however, with this said, this guidance has always been confusing / tricky to me. i fill out everything that needs to be filled out but i always get stuck in places where it asks for children's name / preparer's name / dates etc. i don't have children, i don't use a third party to prepare my forms...but in my mind, if I put None or N/A in those spaces what if they interpret that "None" as being the name of my (non-existent) child? We are foreigners after all, what if "No-ne" is a common name in the country where you are from? Also, some fields require a number or are date fields and you cannot really type text in there. This is just me though, lol. Kudos to you all who do not get sucked into the overthinking rabbit hole that is filling out USCIS forms.  😬

  12. Hello Mods, I hope I am posting in the right place. I wanted to suggest an update, if and when it's possible, to the options available when one updates their Lifting Conditions timeline. Right now only two options are available, namely:  California and Vermont. It would be great if the other service centers can be added here (ie YSC, MSC, SRC, etc). I attached a screenshot of the section I am referring to here for reference. Thanks!

  13. i have been reading and following this thread for a few weeks now. i see a lot of posts from folks who did not receive their NOAs, and that is understandably frustrating . i am wondering how widespread the issue really is. it would be good to hear from the other side, so are their folks on here who did receive their NOAs? how long did it take you to get it through the normal process?
