  1. i think compiling the supporting documentation varies by case and really depends on the quality of evidence provided to create a convincing enough case. the official reminder notice did say to submit proof for the whole duration of the marriage. for instance, submitting bank statements as proof of joint finances and proof of "doing life together", I interpreted that to mean periodic statements over a 2-3 year period, not just the from the last 2 months. but that is just me...my motto in dealing with USCIS has always been: if even after careful consideration I am still in doubt, send it. This process is already stressful and anxiety inducing in the best circumstances, so if I can alleviate some of that by the things I can control and sending an extra paper here and there, I'd rather do that.

Yeah this is true. I’ll wait another week or so and hopefully something will arrive in the mail. Fingers crossed!

No don’t wait...just call and ask if they have a case number for you. They can search by name or A number. Worst case if they say they can’t find you. Call early in the morning first thing when they open, shorter wait times then.

We received the receipt number today via text message and the check was cashed as well. They received our case on June 15th. The text also stated the receipt notice (form I-797) to follow in mail. Was your NOA received in the mail?

What service center did you get?

    Hello everyone,

A little update about my case:

6/12 sent out package to TX

6/15 USPS notified the package has delivered. I obtained Proof of delivery.

6/22 received text message from USCIS. 'Your case has been received. Receipt# MSCXXXXXXXXX. Official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) to follow in mail.

I do have some questions if anyone could share insight:

    1. I checked my bank account, my check hasn't been cash yet. Shouldn't it be cashed before having this receiving notice?
    2. How do you check your local office if the case goes to MSC? (I am in VA and I sent my package to TX PObox)
    3. I did a little research about MSC. I am still confused about how MSC(NBC) worked. On an USCIS archived article, it seemed like every case in MSC needs to go through an interview and background check. Is this different from other service centers? is the timeline faster or slower than other SCs? Are the process the same? Getting 18 months extension applied to all the filers?

Good luck everyone, keep strong and stay safe.

Are you removing conditions from CR1? That might be the reason why you were assigned to MSC. That SC from what I read preps cases for interviews. Not 100% guaranteed of course, but that could mean you will be called for an interview.

Yes, all cases as of now get the 18 months extension.

Update on my ROC case. Received a NOA stating that the fingerprints from my previous case will be applied to the ROC and that I do not have to appear for a biometrics appointment and the fee will not be refunded.

Also, still waiting for the first NOA that case was received with receipt number... anyone get this yet?

    ROC Timeline:

    June 1 2020- sent package I-751

June 4 2020- Delivered to TX PO Box

June 9 2020- Credit Card charged for the $680

June 16 2020- Online case update; fingerprints applied to case

June 22 2020- received physical NOA for fingerprints being applied to case

    what's your service center?

Did you include passport pictures in your package?

No. I did include a copy of my marriage certificate.

...did you write one check with the $680 fee or two separate, one with the $595 fee and another one with the $85 biometric fee?

I paid using a credit card, using  form g-1450 and i put the total amount of $680 into one form. I would imagine one check would work similarly, but defer to other's actual experience on this.

My credit card was just charged from the Phoenix lockbox (package delivered on June 17)! Hopefully will receive the case number soon.

Good news! Mine was delivered to the Lewisville one last June 16 but haven't received any notifications and my card hasn't been charged yet.

I'm a june filer, but we forgot to submit the copy of the green card 🤦🏽‍♀️

did you get your package back yet? or you just found out on your own?

  7. Just found out that Potomac is here in Northern VA, which has been badly badly hit by the pandemic. The area shut down, with non-essential federal workers working remotely since March 2020. On top of that, the county where YSC is (Arlington), is the worst hit in Northern VA. As of today, the rest of VA has already re-opened but Northern VA is still just on Phase 2 (restrictions are still in place with teleworking still strongly encouraged). Not sure if USCIS can work on cases at the same service level while teleworking, but this could be a reason why YSC has slowed down this year when before it was one of the fastest centers.

Will they refund the biometric fee?

    :)

hahahaha nope, it's stated on the uscis website: "When you send a payment, you agree to pay for a government service. Filing and biometric service fees are final and non-refundable, regardless of any action we take on your application, petition, or request, or if you withdraw your request." also read a post on here from folks who received biometrics waiver notices about the fee not being refunded.

I'm sorry @kendraf that's super frustrating! Fingers crossed they send you your letter very soon! We haven't received the NOA yet but I will keep you updated when they do. So weird how inconsistent it is, I wonder if some people are working on cases faster than others?

i had wondered the same thing. specifically if it's happening more when sending to the PO Box (through USPS) vs the actual address (though FedEx / UPS / DHL). the other is there is a difference between sending to Phoenix vs Texas. @kendraf and @ALittleBritish - how and where did you send in your packages?

The other thing I think is, with the pandemic still going on, there might be some steps in the process with no manpower available. For example, some service centers might be in an area which is harder hit by the virus and therefore have a lesser workforce than other centers which are not as affected.
