eastcoastgroove reacted to yuna628 in US plans to require COVID-19 shots for foreign travelers
To enter the USA on a variety of visas, immigrants are required to subject themselves to all manner of medical exams, tests, and vaccinations whether they like it or not. They are required to jump through a million hoops, bureaucracy, background checks - all without a choice. Immigrants are more vaccinated (without a choice) than US citizens. And US citizens will also have to start getting used to vaccine, testing, or quarantine requirements of other countries too. I'm fine with the requirement if that's what gets air travel moving again. Goodness knows we haven't seen our family in quite some time now.

I don't want to fly with a tube full of unvaccinated people, but to each their own.

I finally had my interview today in Dallas, Texas. Sept. 28 (2017) filer.  It was about 5 minutes and he only asked us a few questions.  I risked not re-doing my medical and thankfully he never asked for it.  Half an hour later the website said "new card is being produced".  I'm glad to be done with immigration for awhile.  I don't think there are many left in here, but good luck to those still waiting!

Hi! I've been very quiet here. I just wanted to share good news with September 2017 filers.
I got an case status update today. Finally my interview is scheduled. My office is San Francisco. If you're in Bay Area, you know SF office has been extremely slow on the AOS process.
My application received date: Sept 26th, 2017
I've never got RFE. I received the EAD in Dec 2017. But it took forever to get to the interview. Now I'm waiting for the interview schedule letter. It's so close to the end.
If you are waiting for the interview schedule at SF, don't lose hope! This day is coming to you guys!! I will keep you posted.

She can get insurance through the marketplace (Obamacare).  You would have to pay for it, but may be cheaper than going directly through a private company.

I don't think it really matters (as long as he is divorced when you file and you can provide a divorce certificate). I met my now husband while I was still technically married (had been separated for a year).  My divorce got finalised on Jan 20th, 2017 and my hubby filed the I129 on Feb. 14th. We had only been in a relationship since August 2016.... So it was also a pretty new relationship when we filed.  We were approved no problem and I wasn't questioned about it in my interview.  I did go through Canada though, which is an easy embassy.

That sounds like quite the ordeal!! I sent my AOS in September but because I am going through a busy office (Dallas), I don't think I'll be getting my green card interview anytime soon and I'm kind of expecting I will have to get another physical done.

eastcoastgroove reacted to JFH in How long should a person who gets her citizenship by marriage wait to remarry her ex-spouse after divorce?
It's this kind of thing that annoys me. She used a USC for immigration benefit. As soon as she got her citizenship she divorced him and is going to re-marry her original husband to bring him here. That was the plan all along. Why didn't she bring the child with her when she came on a K-1? Because there was never any intention to build a family life with the USC husband.

She can marry when she is legally free to marry (if there is a waiting period following divorce in her state of residence then she will need to wait that long after the divorce  before marrying again). She can petition as soon as they are legally re-married. Whether the visa will be approved or not is a whole other story.

    Which country is this?

Update: In an exciting turn of events, my fiance had his interview at the embassy today. They had re-scheduled it for Friday with only two days notice after we contacted them to ask if it can still be scheduled in Delhi even though the process has changed to Mumbai only. Anyway, the interview went SO WELL and would have been approved if his medical results weren't still pending. The CO explained to him that as soon as the medical report is received (on the 6th of Jan.) then they will contact him to drop off his passport and said he will have the visa approx. 5 days after that. He asked her to explain if that meant he was approved, and she said yes not to worry all is good with the interview and gave him an estimated date of Jan 19th for when he should expect to receive the visa.

I am soooooooooo happy!!!!! After having to go through the sputum testing it felt like the 8 weeks would never be up, and now we are just a couple of weeks away from him getting the visa! Such a great way to celebrate the new year, with good news. Hope everyone else is doing well and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

    Hi everyone! Greetings from newlyweds
Marry Christmas to all who celebrated it and Happy Holidays!

Well, we've got married last Friday!
It was super quick ceremony (not like they are doing it in Ukraine :)) - about 10 minutes  and we've done, didn't even realize what happened
Afterwards we had a nice dinner with our family (my parents arrived from Ukraine) and my best friend (the one from NY that also came to the airport when I arrived remember? ). Supper happy day overall.
The wedding we are planning for autumn - church ceremony, white dress, restaurant and dances dances dances

All the good pics are on my fathers camera still but here is the one taken on the phone

All the next steps with green card, etc hopefully to star in the early January.

    Hope everyone is doing fine!

eastcoastgroove reacted to Ashley Scott in Petitioner DUI Conviction 8 years ago question I-129F
I, too, have a driving under the influence charge in my background.  I did not disclose this on our petition as I was informed that you do not have to.  From what I was told, if it was not a felony conviction or one of the charges that they questions then it is not relevant to the petition.  (I could have been told wrong but our petition was approved with no issues)  That is not to say that they do not have this information on you though.  As others have stated, your fiancé will receive a complete copy of your background check at the interview and this contains all charges associated with your name.  So in my opinion, I would be honest and go ahead and make her aware.  It is better to hear it from you than for her to be blindsided by it at the interview (which is supposed to be a very exciting and happy day).  Your DUI from 8 years ago does not make you a bad person.  You made a mistake and you learned from it and your fiancé should be (and I am guessing will be) understanding of this.  Good luck to you!
