  1. Folks! My CEAC finally says "Ready!"

    I have a very newbie question: I need to go https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/ to file and pay for the DS-160 and then here: https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-br/iv to actually make the appointment, right?

    In this case, at the CASV website, which options is the most appropriate (or that you folks have chosen without any problem):

    - I have received a Consular interview appointment date from the NVC...

    - I have received a letter from the consular section with instructions to register... a K visa appointment.

    Yes   Hardly  three more months.. i am depressed to collect all the document and interview stuff :(  i have alot to do but will get thro this too

    Keep the faith! I too am freaking out about it, but one step at the time. I'm putting together pictures from my fiancée's vacation in Brazil in order to provide evidence of relationship in the interview. Some parts of the process can be a delight too.

    Nice , glad to read some people are actually having their cases received. Gives more hopes haha. I selected immigrant visa plugged in the wac number and entered the captcha code, but I keep getting the error that the code entered doesn't match the one in the screen. I don't know if even their error is spitting out the right information.

    The WAC number and the NVC number are entirely different. You need the number issued by the NVC in order to check the status at the CEAC website.

    I too have tried the CEAC website with the WAC number before hahahaha

  4. My fiancée just got a hold of them and our case has been received!

    I checked the status on https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx and got the following message in the picture below. The officer said that the case was being prepared to be sent though.

    So I guess I'm right to assume that the talk about "various fees" and "six steps" is an automatic message destined to the general public?

    Interview booked yesterday for March 26th. That was the first and only day available.

    Did anyone have trouble showing a scanned copy of affidavit of support and related documents? We are wondering if originals with we signature are required, since it can take months for our postal service to deliver them.

    I'd like to expand on that question and ask if anyone's used a joint sponsor and if the Brazilian consulate sees any problem with it.

    Also, @Ayrton, I see your NOA2 was in December, would you mind telling me how long it took for NVC to get back to you? Did you get an email from them or did you have to keep calling NVC and asking for your case's number?

    I scheduled my interview exactly when my status changed to ‘Ready’ on CEAC, that was on Dec 28. I was able to schedule my interview on Feb 19, that was the first day available, so almost 2 months from there yep.

    Oh no, this sounds no fun =/

    One more question: I'm still confused about CEAC's role in the whole thing. When do I get an Immigrant Visa Case Number? Is this the NVC number?

    A-Number is the letter “A” followed by 8 or 9 numbers (such as A012345678). Normally the A number begins with "A" and not what you state where it is last. How many digits are there? Do the match either A followed by 8 or 9 numbers?

    Sorry, that was actually a mistake, I meant to say that the letter "A" is followed by the numbers. So that explains everything.

  8. I'm sorry if the following questions sound too simple or banal but I'm trying to understand all the next steps...

    For what I understood right after receiving NOA2 (ours was issued on 1/8) the next step is for the NVC to receive the case and generate a number, right? That being the case, the only way to contact them to know about it is via phone calls, I guess there isn't a website to check the progress of this step?

    Also, after a number is assigned, is this when I get to check progress on the CEAC website? or only after the consulate receives and processes it?

    I guess the most pressing question is when the time to take action again is, do I just wait until packet 3 is sent with the instructions?

    So, summarizing...

    - NOA2 is issued, case is sent to the NVC by the USCIS;

    - NVC receives the case and generates a number (at this point I can only check progress by phone calls);

    - NVC sends case to country's consulate (any way I can check this step's progress?);

    - Consulate receives case, processes it and sends beneficiary packet with instructions;

    - Beneficiary gets all the documentation needed, schedules medical appointment and interview;

    - Interview;

    - Success.

    It that it?

  9. Hello everyone, slightly unrelated question:

    I am still waiting for my NOA2 but I'm getting ahead and preparing all the documentation. For the affidavit of support we are going to have a joint sponsor (her mother), but she doesn't live in the same city where we're going to move. Is that a problem at all or is anywhere specified that the sponsor must reside in the same city as the petitioner?

    Thanks in advance.

    Thank you!! Hoping that you get something soon. Be sure to be checking the new site, the one that needs two factor verification. I think that’s the one most people have seen updates on, when they do decide to update.  Best of luck!!

    Indeed. I've been checking it almost every day and I'll be checking it twice a day now... My fiancée is spending her vacation with me in Brazil and it'd be amazing to get such good news before she flies back home!
