I brought so much information that wasn't needed to the interview. But I felt like it was necessary to be better safe than sorry. I brought all of the original birth certificates, marriage certificate, passports, etc. and "new documents" since filing I-751/N-400. The officer did not ask for those. I gave them a copy of my newest Tax return and she took my son's birth certificate to scan a copy into the system.

As far as the questions the officer asked were simple...just full name, DOB, address, phone number. I can't recall anything else. Just simple conversation. She said that our file was complete and asked if I wanted to give her anything else. That's when I gave a copy of our latest tax return. The officer than said she was recommending approval of the I-751 and if my wife was "ready" to take the citizenship exam, because she wasn't going to issue a permanent resident card if she was ready for the exam. My wife said "yes" she was ready so I stepped out of the interview so she wouldn't have stress of me being there. It took about 15 minutes.

For the N-400 interview, my wife was asked 6 questions:

    1. Name a territory of the United States?
    2. How many Amendments to the Constitution are there?
    3. How many Supreme Court Justices are there?
    4. What is the name of the Chief Justice?
    5. What is the political party of the President?
    6. How many years is the president elected for?

Then she asked why my wife hasn't been back to the Philippines in the last 5 years and she said that was because her Philippine passport has been expired. She asked her to read a sentence and then write a sentence. Then they just talked a little while and that was all. Very informal and very easy my wife said. The Officer then said she recommended approval of her N-400 and would go tell the front office to include her in the next Oath Ceremony and to print the Certificate of Naturalization. This part took about 20-30 minutes. We waited a few hours until the next scheduled Oath Ceremony. They did the Oath and gave her the Certificate of Naturalization and then we were on our way.

Did you file the FOIA (Freedom of information act)? A lot of people have had really good luck with that. Many people who filed their N-400 in the spring of 2020 had their files sent to an off-site storage/records center, and they have been stuck there since. Once they realized filing a FOIA helped, a ton of people started doing the same and the majority seems to have gotten their interview dates shortly there after. The FOIA request is just a request you send to USCIS to receive your "immigration history" that USCIS has on you, but it seems like that request brings up your case to the surface and you're more likely to not be stuck anymore.

There's a whole Facebook group about it as well: https://www.facebook.com/groups/517983782770173/

Our I-751 was transferred to our local office but no update after that. Then we received an interview date for N-400. Just so happens we needed a new I-551 stamp in her passport so we scheduled an info pass and when we went for the stamp we asked if they would be conducting a combo interview. The officer put a note in the system and said they would have to adjudicate the I-751 before approving the N-400. Hoping all goes well tomorrow.

N-400 mostly. Though I'm sure there must be some in similar situation to us(I-751 and N-400 pending) who got their interview after submitting a FOIA request. Remember to request your entire A-file when you submit the request.

Checkout the N400 may 2020 forum thread for detailed information. In short it's basically for people whose cases are stuck because of their A files being stored in caves and not being accessible due to pandemic. Submitting a FOIA request forces them to retrieve the file. And as a result a lot of people got their interviews scheduled after requesting their A file.

It's not an easy process to get a Recognition of Foreign Divorce in the Philippines. My wife was divorced prior to us getting married. Long story short, we are still working on it and its been well over 5 years. Granted, the Recognition was formally recognized by the court system in the Philippines, however, before all of the paper work was transferred to PSA, her attorney was assassinated. So we had to hire another attorney to request the correct paperwork from Cebu and hopefully we will finally get all the documentation finished. Long story short, its a pain in the butt, takes long time, and has cost a few thousand dollars so far.  I've posted my experience through a different thread, so maybe you can gain some insight through those posts. Ill let you know when we are all finished, but wishing you the best and a speedy process.  Best advice I can give you is get a "Red Ribbon" on your US documents before sending them to the Philippines Regional Trial Court. To do this it has to be authenticated my the State's Department of State, then sent to the Philippine Embassy of jurisdiction and once received then it can be sent to the Philippines. In our case we had to obtain a copy of the Law of the State of New York, and have a Red Ribbon applied to that. That was a fun process as the New York Department of State couldn't authenticate the documents because they didn't have the signatures of the Senate and House on record. So I had to have an attorney write a letter of attestation stating the law was accurate, etc. and have the Red Ribbon applied. The moral to the story is, be ready for all of the hoops you have to jump through because the Philippines does not recognize divorce and will milk you for all you have.  Again, good luck and I wish you the best!

Path of least resistance is that the air ticket should be in the name of the passport and the marriage certificate should be presented when checking in for the flight back to the USA.

CBP only needs to see the green card.  If they demand the passport, and the name doesn’t match, provide the marriage certificate,  let CBP bark, smile, and then you will be admitted.

LPRs with unexpired green cards cannot be denied entry into the USA.  LPRs with expired 10 year green cards cannot be denied entry into the USA.
