It won't be an issue since you won't be marrying within the Philippines. You will be marrying in the US, where you are free to do so.

The interview lasted for only 2-3 minutes. Arrived at the USEM today, 5/30/2019 at 6:40 AM and was done  at 8:20ish. Consul never asked for any supporting docs from me but I noticed she did on the other applicants before me so I would recommend everyone to be prepared just in case. To me, the experience was fast, thorough and no stress at all as long as you know your fiancee/fiance.

Hello there! I’m not from the 5/23 approval but I’m on the 5/30. I’m still waiting for my ISSUED status too but has been on nonimmigrant AP since 5/31.

I noticed the trend too because I knew people too who were on 5/23 but are still waiting on the ISSUED status on CEAC. Some of them got their visa already and some just got the issued status.

Hopefully yours and the others move already.

Hi fellow VJ members! Anyone out there with an interview date of May 23 still waiting in AP status for their visa to be issued? I noticed some others here on VJ and in other support groups and wanted to know if anyone had any insight on the situation. Our interview was very short (3-5 min) with only few questions before approval (no 221g). However, it took until May 28 to show Immigrant AP and did not switch to NonImmigrant AP until June 3. Now, we are still in AP awaiting ISSUED status.

While I have seen many (as in 10+) May 28/30 interviews already have their visa in hand by now, I have only found two so far from the 23rd. I’m wondering how many of us are out there in the same boat. Hard to understand why a simple approval from a week prior (23rd) is delayed issuance while many from a full week later (30th) are already out and in hand. (Then again, it’s hard to really understand the rhyme or reason behind the pace of any step in the K1 process. 😂)

If nothing else, this topic was made for us to band together as we wait for that amazing ISSUED status. Just a little bit longer! We can do it! 🤝

I am compassionate and caring or else I wouldn't be here sharing the information I know and have acquired.  Just because someone doesn't like the information presented doesn't mean it's not valid or relevant or helpful.  This is NOT a support group.  This a "Do It Yourself" website to help others through their immigration paperwork without the help of a lawyer or for pay service.  The fact that there is support here, is a benefit but it's not the purpose of the forum.

The CO will be judgmental because that's THEIR JOB.  Learn to deal with it or you will fail. The CO assumes the relationship is fake and your applying for the visa benefit only. If your standing in front of them and you have a "whoa is me attitude" you'll fail. It's your job to convince them otherwise with evidence of a genuine relationship. Put your big girl panties on and start preparing your future.

We deal with judgement from others in our personal life and online due to our decisions.  Such is life.  We just move forward and continue being ourselves.

Yes, I added my spouse to my plan after marriage. It was basically $400/month out of pocket for each of us ($800 combined).

It was worth every penny, though. My medical bill 3 weeks ago was $133,000 and I paid $0.

VIP_LadyLuck reacted to TBoneTX in CBP at TSA Airport Checkpoints: Why They're There & How Best to Handle
People here often post questions about flying domestically when they're at various beginning stages of the immigration process. Answers vary from "carry your complete current documentation with you" to "you will have no problems."

Customs & Border Protection agents sometimes hang out at the TSA airport checkpoints. In August 2015, I flew out of a border-area airport in south Texas and took the opportunity to query the CBP agents at the TSA checkpoint.

T-B.: When you hang out at the TSA checkpoints, are you checking that
    foreign travelers are in status?
    CBP: Exactly.
    T-B.: For example, what if a K-1 entrant's I-94 is expired?
CBP: We have all kinds of ways of checking their status.
T-B.: Would it help if they have their marriage certificate with them?
    CBP: Absolutely.
T-B.: If they've applied for AOS and have their I-797 or at least a copy of their
cover-letter for their I-485, does it help?
CBP: Absolutely anything that they can provide will help a lot, and will speed things up.
T-B.: Why are you at some airports and not others?
CBP: We're at border airports and others that are ports of entry. We're not at all of them.
T-B.: But it still makes sense for legal immigrants to carry their current documentation?
CBP: Absolutely. It helps them and it helps us. It speeds things up a lot.
T-B.: I'll pass this along. Thank you.

This confirms that it makes sense to carry your most recent documentation with you until you have your green card.

I first had Mrs. T-B. carry her marriage certificate (MC) and passport with valid I-94.
Then, she carried her MC, passport, and copy of her cover-letter for AOS/EAD/AP.
Then, she carried her MC, passport, and her NOA1 (I-797) for AOS.
Then, she carried her MC, passport, and AP.
Then, she carried her first green card (= the law).
Then, she carried that green card and her cover-letter for ROC.
Then, she carried that green card and her NOA1 for ROC.
Then, she carried her 10-year green card until she became a naturalized citizen (= the law).

These documents came in handy at various stages, including at a Texas/Mexico land-crossing POE, a couple of airports, and especially inland CBP checkpoints while driving. At these last, the CBP agents are typically in poor humor and are looking to nail someone. For example, if you're not carrying your green card, they'll detain you for as long as it takes to verify that you're who you say you are.

The above is presented in hopes that it will help others.

    * Moved from Philippines regional forum to AOS from K-1 visas forum. The question is not specific to Philippines and deals with the AOS stage. *

    1) Marry within 90 days.
    2) File for AOS. Guide: https://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos/

It is highly suggested to apply for an SSN as well. This can be done within the first 76 days from entry (90 days - 14 days of legal status).
It is generally recommended to get one sooner rather than later, then try to change it to a married name later if desired. Getting the card in a married name can be a challenge without an EAD, even within the same 76 day period.

Immigration laws didn't change because of the administration, but many are now inforced. The price of bread increased, did the administration tell all the bakers to raise their prices? The cost of adjudicating a visa is tied to your fees. When the cost goes up fees naturally increase. The administration had nothing to do with raising the fees. It's called inflation and is a common experience of capitalism sometimes referred to as supply and demand.

As for CFO that is no longer an issue ... CFO is for exiting Emigrates ONLY!    Once you possess your green card you are no longer an exiting Emigrate and the sticker is not required and NO ONE asks to see the certificate from the seminar.

CFO sticker is not needed once you are a green card holder.
    NOT NECESSARY!

Where does it state to submit birth certificates of children for your visa interview (even if they are not apply for a visa)?  I know you are to list all children on the I-129F, even if not apply for a visa.   I know of nothing stating to submit birth certificates of the children at YOUR interview.

If you have K-2 and they are applying for visas, then you provide everything as listed in the embassy checklist

For Financial Support; bank statements are not needed,  certificate of employment or letters are only needed if you are a NEW employee, if been employed over 1 year that isn't needed either.

Only part of the I-129F that is of value for the interview is the Petitioner BIO page (read this) - this you should know all that info.

For the visa interview you must provide originals of all PSA & NBI documents.  Copies of other documents as listed in the checklist are OK, unless specifically stated that originals are needed.

Embassy requirements (step 5 is the document checklist), submit everything as listed:

    More info:

    http://www.visaconnection-philippines.com/k-1-visa-application.html

As for CFO, with the CENOMAR they want to see the original but are good with keeping a copy.

CFO does ask for a copy of the Petitioner BC, and divorce decrees if having been married before.
