I hope I can help on the issue here.
My wife and I are now in USA, we will stay here until April 2017....Then fly back to our home in Kyiv...spend 5 months and fly back to USA.
To keep green card status you must spend the majority of your time in the US.
To get your checks, set up electronic deposit for SSA checks....go to your US bank, they will set it up for you.
We always maintain a US address so I don't know how you will get new cards....It is illegal to send bank cards in the mail to Ukraine (and other things).....and customs are getting better in their jobs.
See my post on dual citizenship.....but if you are going to use this path, here is the method used now
Enter and exit the US on the US passport.....Enter and exit Ukraine on Ukrainian passport.......Just remember, sometime you will be questioned on where you are coming from and why you don't have an exit stamp.....food for thought

Robert, If she was married at ZAGS, yes your passports get married as well. Now they will not place the stamp in American passports....You indicated that she spent some time in Turkey.....They do not place a "marriage stamp" in the passport....
I think the Embassy is suspicious that there is a prior marriage....If a notary letter to that fact is requested it will be on file that she lied....and banned for life. She raised her hand to take a oath to tell the truth....now why are asking for a letter stating the same...I don't know, but I am smelling fish

You are good with the folder. Just remember the only thing you can bring into the Embassy is your wallet. No cell phones and no keys with fobs or a remote on them. There is a guy in a trailer across the street that will store items ....not sure what it cost

We have been going to the US and are doing the same research as you....our information is very much different or more complete.
There is a reason the housing market is so hot in Seattle......Jobs! Also if you look at your home as an asset and it grows at the rate 1.7% per year as an example....that is beating a 1year cd for example .65%
We have looked at the beautiful homes in the gulf states....250K buys a lot of home, and in a nice area filled with jobs....There seems to be a catch....homeowners insurance (if you can get it) is more than 12K a year...We found the same information on Atlantic coastal cities.
We are going to the US this Sunday ...... We have Boulder Colorado and Bend Oregon in our sights and will further our research

Hello Robert, I have been an expat in Kyiv for many years. It doesn't seem like you know this woman very well. 31 year age gap is out of the norm.....not saying it hasn't worked, just saying it's not normal. If there is one bone in the closet, there is defiantly going to be another and soon you will find the whole skeleton.
I hope you understand the relationship culture of Ukraine...... I guarantee she will come out as the winner. If I could give you a little assignment, I would ask you to talk to other men who have married a woman with a child under the age of 18 or maybe 21. Also, have you argued with her yet?....It is part of the culture here and it gives them an emotional "reset". If she hasn't handed you your backside yet I would take that as a red flag from a slavic woman. Arguments are an important fact of life here and somehow necessary. You will have to learn to argue without hurting her. Words can hurt....
One of the biggest groups that come here as sexpats, come from Turkey. My wife went to Turkey and the men were all over her. Women go to Turkey for the money.....It has nothing to do with cleaning rooms in a hotel. Maybe that is why she had no work permit. I am only trying to be kind but you need to open your eyes. Here in Ukraine, women only have jobs if they have sex with the boss.....plane and simple fact.
If you would like to inbox me I can give you more information on the culture

I have noticed another long term relationship here on VJ that was denied. One thing in common, only one or two visits in many years. If it were me, there is no way I could be without my loved one for 2.5 months.....much less 2.5 years
