This is you and your fiancé's future, personal information, and life ahead of you. If you can't spend some time to handle something as important and simple as calling the NVC yourself, then you're going to find a lot of other problems ahead. Frankly, it's irresponsible.

Ever heard of Identity fraud? They can do A LOT with your full name and date of birth. If they are also getting money from it, they will ask for your credit info and you can say bye bye money and your identity and you will never get it back.
They can also do a lot of damage with your case too.
This is not one of those things you let someone else do. Just call NVC yourself.

So basically for $9.00 you just gave away your petitioner's case number and vital information all on a random web pop-up? Do you also believe those web pop-ups that say "your PC is infected, click here to clean now?"

We are not on a K-1 but we organised a wedding in a matter of days. Went to the auditor on the Wednesday to get the licence (this was Washington state that has a three-day waiting period between getting the licence and getting married), got a $70 dress in a sale, 2 rings for $45 each, shirt, trousers and waist coat for my husband, called two friends to ask if they would be witnesses (Washington state requires two witnesses), one of them was working that weekend and couldn't change his shift so we called someone else. Told them to meet us at 10.30 on Saturday morning. We wore shoes we already had. We had no flowers. We had no photographer except one witness who brought a camera with him. We had no honeymoon, no reception party. At 10.30 we arrived at the office to be married. They were running late because of a problem with a previous couple. We went in at 11 am and the ceremony took less than 8 minutes. We have a photo of us under the clock in the office and the clock says 11.08.
We got in the car afterwards and said that the first song they played on the radio would be "our wedding song". It was "I miss the misery" by Halestorm, which made us laugh. We went to Red Robin and had cheeseburgers. That was it.

Assuming there's nothing barring your aunt from marrying you in the jurisdiction/county where you plan to get married, and as long as you have a valid marriage license from that county, then there should be no problem with her officiating your marriage.
Just remember, your fiance will arrive with basically no status, so the sooner you get married, the sooner he can apply for the green card, and the sooner he'll be able to work, get a driver's license, apply for credit, travel again, etc.
You can only get married once, but you can obviously have as many ceremonies as you want. My wife and I were officially married on paper at the courthouse within a week of me arriving, which allowed us to get the green card paperwork started. We then went on to have a full-blown ceremony months later with all the friends and family, going through all the motions of a real wedding. The only people that didn't know it wasn't a real wedding were the two of us and our parents. Even the officiant (a family friend) wasn't aware.

I know what you mean, but I did not require financing, so that's why I refused telling them my SSN. Had I been financing, I would have had to let them check my credit. I protect my SSN as much as possible.

You would want to report this to your state's department of revenue. You will need to supply them with some evidence of what you are claiming.
If you are unsure about it ask your spouse or a friend to help you.
Quit the job and move on. There are better employers out there..

It's the perfect place for this conversation because this is a huge problem in the U.S. Exploiting immigrants through labor and taxes is not only a crime - not to mention welfare fraud - it's part of the moral decay of this country. This vile woman needs to be turned into U.S. Immigration, the Internal Revenue Service, the state tax agents, the state and federal departments of health and human services, the local and state licensing authorities, and the state board that regulates cosmetology licensing (or the state professional boards of registration, if you have one). You can take this woman down - and you should!
Immigrants need to be helped, not exploited. Message me and I'll tell you exactly how to right the wrongs. Keep the faith - she doesn't represent most of us. However, the problem is real and widespread. Send me a message.

Someone with a valid green card can equally be deported.
The OP has a valid green card (I-551). An I-551 in stamp form is just as good at proving permanent residency as an I-551 in card form (and in fact I would argue it is even better proof than a card because it is more likely to be issued more recently).

When I said could be deported I meant from the banks view point. It doesn't matter what the real truth is, it's the banks perception. They don't know immigration.

It has nothing to do with immigration. It has to do with financing. They want to verify your income. If you don't have a valid greencard, you could be deported and they run the risk of never getting paid...and then you are buying a high prices luxury vehicle which probably has other guidelines they need to follow. They also don't have to accept a stamp. They make their own rules. If you want the car then you have to follow.

The issue is not about selling you a car; it is about risk management policies related to extending credit.

    Hey TheCaptain,
Thanks so much for the really informative post (both above). Really appreciate it.
Yes, I thought I would be easily deniable once my AOS is in and Jan 21 (90 days from Oct 24) passes until I get my GC. Timing is just easy at the moment especially as it's season.
I wouldn't ask my FIL to do that - straw purchasing a firearm is a felony (as you incorrectly give info on the 4473). Although 'gifting' would be a grey area, haha. Wouldn't want to test that, particularly with the immigration issues a firearm charge will have!
Thanks so much again and I too think it'll be a case of go and test it out, see what happens Having the FBI sheet with me will help a lot!

This is a hotbed of contention. You may be able to purchase but you also may not. You will simply have to try and see what happens.
This is the major problem you have with what you are intending on doing with the visa class you are under. The K1 is a non immigrant visa for the purposes of immigration. You are also Intending on abandoning residency from Australia.

    Non-Immigrant Alien
    Description:
No intention of abandoning residence in another country Granted access to the United States for a specific purpose and for a temporary period of time You will most likely be denied at the store level, simply because they don't know or don't want to be held liable if something goes wrong. If the store decides to approve your purchase then you could be denied under the FBI NICS check. Even though you entered the country under a non-immigrant visa designation, it was invalidated the day you entered the country, a VALID visa is required for identification purposes. This does not mean you will not be approved though.
The BATFE may also put a HOLD on your purchase which involves a 72 hour delay while they find a reason to deny you. If after the 72 hours you are not denied then you are legally allowed to continue with the purchase and take possession of the firearm.
Your I-94 is used as your legal ability to purchase a firearm under the Non-Immigrant banner because as you entered the country on October 25th and your your I-94 is valid until January 25th
This means you SHOULD be valid to purchase with your hunting permit exemption (18 USC 922 (G) (5) (y)(2) ) until 25th January.
Once you register for Adjustment Of Status you are in "Limbo" called "A Period Of Authorized Stay"...... not a non-immigrant but not an immigrant, so you will be denied on all purchases.
You should also look at this page
    https://www.atf.gov/qa-category/nonimmigrant-aliens
It provides further confirmation of your ability to purchase. Just remember what is written is not always what actually happens.
It may not be "Legal" for the BATFE or FBI to deny your purchase but it is the delay and waiting while you appeal which causes the most pain.
Once you have a green card in hand the process becomes much simpler.
