Pheebs1201 got a reaction from coltr in We are done!
Hi all, I haven't been on this forum in quite some time but this is where I got the most support back in my K1 visa days so I felt it was fitting to return today and share that we are DONE with our immigration journey! I had my N400 interview on 2/6 and they asked me to return two hours later for my oath ceremony. I wanted to let you all know, whatever stage of the journey you are at, that despite how stressful and frustrating this process is, it is so worth it when you attend that oath ceremony and hear everyones stories from such a vast range of different countries. It was such an emotional day for me.

Anyway, I wish you all, all the luck in the world! Thank you to the VJ community for being a part of our journey! I couldn't have done it without you all and I made some friends for life on this forum!

My online portal is estimating August 2019 however this timeline indicates most people are processed through my local office in 5-6 months...

Well I'll be darned.  Just today we got an extension letter, another six months.  So we won't need an InfoPass appointment, and hopefully the unconditional green card will arrive in time.  Who knew, sometimes the right thing happens!  Thanks again everyone for the advice and support.

I'm a June 2017 I-751 filer. No new Extension Letter, whatsoever. And not just me. So, I wouldn't rely on that - just go and get the passport stamped with I-551, if you already scheduled an Infopass appointment..

You should  make a copy of the green card - it can be taken by USCIS in exchange for a stamp. Some offices keep it, some - don't , but you never know until you are there.

    Good luck!

Also to reiterate the above comment:

It is visa fraud to enter enter the country with intent to stay without taking the proper visa/immigration pathways. Which have been listed above.

We all fell in love with someone overseas and although immigration is a frustrating, we have all been there. It just takes time to go through the proper immigration process.

You don't want to mess up the chance to be with the one you love. Because it happens we have all seen the posts on VJ.

I was in a similar position recently with my filing window opening on June 1. However, we were going to be away June 5-July 5. I learned that USCIS doesn't forward mail, so I couldn't have a biometrics notice forwarded to my in-laws who could then let me know the date and if I'd need to reschedule, and since we had nobody close by to come check our mailbox, I put a hold on our mail and decided it was safer to wait to file until we got back on July 5 (and I literally dropped my suitcase at the door, took the package out of our safe, and ran to the post office). I had been worried that I was leaving it a month into the 90 days, because I have to travel back to Canada for a wedding in September and my GC will be expired by then, but I got my NOA (extension letter to travel) 9 days after I applied for ROC.

I had no problem going to or coming back from Canada less than 2 months before my GC expired. It doesn't seem to be treated like a passport (where you often have to have 6 months validity left to be able to travel). Based
on the timelines of other users in recent months, it is almost definite that if I had filed before our trip, my biometrics would have been scheduled during our trip. If you have someone who can check your mail while you're away and let you know if you get that letter then you can reschedule, there's a box to check on the appointment notice to do so, but if you aren't going out of country again any time soon after your UK trip, and therefore won't need to travel with that extension letter, then I would suggest waiting to file until you get back. Just my two cents!

I think it depends how fast you want your biometrics done and out of the way. I had a friend who had to reschedule and the new date they sent her was like 3 months later than the original. Then again, with the processing time for the ROC being well over a year right now, I don't know that it will make much difference whether you get your biometrics done next week or three months from now. Someone else might know better than me though. The other thing to consider is if you had a freak accident happen in your case as one of the users on here did recently. Their packet sadly and scarily got opened en route by USPS and arrived at USCIS with (if memory serves me right) their cheque and all their evidence missing, floating somewhere in mail land. So they had to re-file all over again. If some horrible mistake like that happened, does your husband know all the contents of the original package to re-send a duplicate package? Do you have second copies of all the forms requiring original signatures, signed by you and ready to be re-submitted? Etc. etc. My husband is wonderfully gifted in different ways from me  but he is definitely not type A and organized like I am, and if I had to tell him via skype or FaceTime what to do, what type of mail service to send the new package by, and so on he would be in over his head. But I'm one of those people that always likes to prepare for the worst possible thing even though it almost never happens...and then something like that does happen to somebody on here and it makes me even more paranoid!

You should have no issues lining with the USC\LPR queue at Dublin pre-clearance.

    Pheebs,
Yes, you go thru pre-clearance in Dublin. I believe that you take the American line just like you did in Vegas. There is usually a person at the entry point to help answer questions about which line to go thru. There is also a supervisor after the 2nd security check point that is always answering questions for folks.
Here is a thread about this topic with some others first hand experience.

London is so easy on that so probably enough proof for them. Can she scan her tax return and email it just for extra.
Or there is the online tax return transcripts. You download as a PDF. Somebody said it was down because of hacking, so the instant transcript may not be an option.
Edit: I think the #### means I made a typo in the word shut. Wrong vowel. Shut down
