  1. OK, so you seem to be saying that the people in Russia are evil. That is just a little to generalized for my tastes. Yes, Putin is a thug who does not want to give up power, he is corrupt and thrives on power, but don't paint everyone in Russia as Putinites. Sure a lot of folks there do like a strong leader no matter how it looks to the enlightened Davos crowd. Most people in Russia understand that the MSM in both the US and EU as well as the establishment , types and deep state folks need a bogeyman to blame for their failures, so now we are getting the "Trump is a Putin stooge" narrative wash, rinse, repeat treatment from the neocons that love all wars (that they can watch from afar), and the Democrat allies. Whatever, I am all for ending this war, there is too many young people dying which is not going to benefit either Ukraine, or Russia, and no Putin is not going to attack another country (particularly a NATO member), he is not that stupid.
  2. That is really an interesting take. I must admit when I first joined VJ, I had fairly strong feelings about AOS from B2/ESTA et. al., but those have changed over time. I know, it allows people to jump the line, and more than likely 80% or more of the couples or people (other IRs) doing it probably decided to do it before entering the US, but there are times when it is really necessary. My thought is that Congress needs to change the law to allow an AOS interview to also include another entry interview and the beneficiary (and petitioner) has to prove there was no pre-planning to this.
  3. I have mixed feelings about this case as it appears the subject actually did succeed on her own eventually. So yes, apparently early in her schooling she was promoted even lacking reading and writing skills, but that changed eventually. As to the lawsuit, if she is only doing it to bring awareness I am fine with that, but if she is doing it for her own personal payday, then I think less of it. Sure the school failed her early on, but she also learned she could do it on her own and didn't need a handout.
  4. Detroit is actually a very comfortable PoE. The international arrivals area is not too busy, and the airport generally gets your luggage to you relatively quickly. I remember when my wife (at that time fiancé) arrived on her K1, it took only maybe 15-20 minutes for her to get through CBP at Detroit. Are you connecting in Detroit, or is that your final destination? Good Luck!
  5. Leave it to Democrats to pass irreconcilable laws based on hopes and dreams. Is anyone really surprised this happens in NY? Amicus Brief Filed In Glen Oaks Village Owners v. City Of New York Meanwhile, New York State’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act of 2019 (Climate Act) remains on the books. That statute commands the complete restructuring of New York’s energy economy to reach “net zero” greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, with a most immediate first deadline of 70% of electricity generation from “renewables” by 2030. They never had a credible plan to achieve that, but they pretended they were going to do most of it with the big offshore wind buildout. Now that that is dead, they don’t even have a fake plan. And also meanwhile, New York City’s statute known as Local Law 97 also remains on the books. That’s the statute that mandates that all residential buildings in excess of 25,000 square feet convert to electric heat by 2030 — the same year that the State’s Climate Act mandates 70% of electricity generation from “renewables,” of which the large majority can only come from non-existent wind and solar. Thus we have the City mandating a huge increase in electricity demand by 2030 at the same time that the State is mandating dismantling our existing reliable electricity generation with no credible plan to replace it. https://www.manhattancontrarian.com/blog/2025-2-23-amicus-brief-filed-in-glen-oaks-village-owners-v-city-of-new-york
  6. This could be an interesting change to the EB5.
  7. I have seen this create confusion within USCIS. If submitting an IRS transcript, there is no need to include any W2's/1099's as that information is included in the transcript, but since he included a copy of his W2 in the RFE response, USCIS appears to be looking for a copy of the return (1040, 1040A, or 1040EZ) that was submitted to the IRS which is not the same as the transcript from the IRS. I know, it doesn't make any sense, but that can come from a bureaucracy. I agree with @Demise, file the I290B with the copy of the 1040 form submitted, or start the I485 all over again (I would do the I290B it it were me). As to the denial, it is more about not responding to an RFE properly at least according to USCIS. Generally speaking, if an RFE is issued, that is the petitioner's/beneficiary's chance to correct a mistake in a petition, if that is not correctly done, the case is denied, and USCIS moves on. Good Luck!
  8. Are you applying for a US immigration benefit.
  9. Applying under the 5yr rule generally requires less marital evidence. Since you are 5 yrs an LPR, I would check the "General Provision" box. Good Luck!
  10. That is definitely true, plus you don't have to deal with the semis coming in and going out.
  11. I remember when ESPN was just starting out, the used to show Australian Rules Football games overnight. That was definitely a rugged sport, sort of a mix between rugby, soccer, and American style football complete with a goal judge dressed in a white coat.
  12. Very common to see the CEAC status change like that. Good Luck!
  13. German (the language) is so great, always a word for everything. Plus it is a great word to say dunkelflaute! Inside Dunkelflaute, Europe's Renewable Energy Challenge So the phenomena of Dunkelflaute, characterised by periods when there is minimal or no wind and solar power generation, poses significant challenges to Europe's energy landscape. https://sustainabilitymag.com/articles/the-gas-demand-rollercoaster-what-is-dunkelflaute
  14. It seems your nephew needs to file an I290B. If the RFE was answered properly and within the time period, the I485 should be re-opened. Good Luck!
  15. Her kids are learning, “You should have just stolen some. It sounds really easy.”
  16. Was this an immediate denial after filing, or was this some time after? Again, if you have items requested in the bulleted items, you can try the I290B route to keep the EAD active. Don't worry about the boilerplate language right now, just worry about making your choice of routes and do that as quickly as possible. Good Luck!
  17. We need a little more detail regarding the reason for the denial. Did you receive an RFE that was not responded to? Was there an interview where information was requested? If the I485 was denied and you received a notice of the denial, then yes, your only options are to either file an I290B or start again with a new I485 package correcting the reason for the denial. I would look at both options and especially the I290B as that should keep the EAD active, but a new I485 filing would mean needing to file a new I765 for employment authorization. Good Luck!
  18. I was think private school with lodgings as well.
  19. It is not a bad idea to have another back-up application in process. That being said, I would not hire a lawyer to do an I130 for you unless you have a complicated case. Good Luck!
  20. Meijer in the Midwest used to be 24hrs, but that changed to 6am with Covid. I often shopped at Meijer at 3-4 am.
  21. Still a lot more to come. It will be interesting to see how Merz forms the government. It will be smart of Merz to look to form the government with the Center Left SPD Party rather than the AfD as we see how well it worked out when Scholz partnered with the extreme Left Green Party. German election 2025: The winners and losers The Winners Democracy Germans turned out in force for what many believed to be the most consequential election in years. With voter participation reaching 83 percent, turnout surged compared to the 76.6 percent recorded in 2021. That’s the most intense public engagement in an election since the reunification of Germany. Friedrich Merz and his conservative alliance For months, Friedrich Merz has positioned himself as a kind of antidote to Scholz’s left-leaning coalition, hammering the government over its policies on migration and the economy. That strategy paid off, making them the dominant force in German politics once again. The AfD The far-right Alternative for Germany was in some ways the biggest winner of the night, recording double its 2021 result. The party’s relentless focus on immigration, economic grievances, and Russia-friendly positions struck a nerve with disillusioned voters, particularly in the East, where it has cemented itself as the strongest party. https://www.politico.eu/article/germany-election-friedrich-merz-cdu-olaf-scholz-spd-afd/
