  1. Here is a helpful thread that is not too old that lays out the DCF process in good detail. Good Luck!
  2. DCF stands for direct consular filing. It used to be more common when USCIS offices were more widespread around the world, but now they are only allowed at the US consulate under exceptional circumstances. One of the common exceptions is when a USC spouse has to repatriate due to work responsibilities. What happens is the USC contacts the consulate and request they accept the I130 filing for an eventual spousal visa along with the reasons (I.e short-term job relocation back to the US). If the consulate accepts it, the processing time for the I130 and visa is accelerated greatly (usually less than six months or so). I am not sure this is an option anymore since your husband already went back to the US, but it may be if he can work something out with his manager and he still has valid residency in the country you are at. You can learn more about recent DCF filers by searching “DCF” in the VisaJourney search bar.
  3. That would be an interesting plan. Maybe the husband could work something out with his manager to temporarily head back overseas to potentially do the DCF.
  4. Too bad you didn't find us a few months ago. You husband had a classic case of filing a DCF case for you to get your GC much sooner than 2 years. That being said, it sounds like the lab course is important to you, but you also have immigration intent, so when filling out the DS160 for the student visa(?) you will need to disclose your USC spouse resides in the US, so it may be an uphill climb regardless of if you have an I130 in process for an eventual spousal visa. I guess I would pursue the visa for the lab course first and see what happens. Make sure you are very truthful with everything you fill out and with any questions asked at the visa interview, but I would be prepared to have it denied. If you are approved, no one can say for sure what CBP will do when you attempt to enter the US with that visa, but you can bring documents showing your need to return after the lab course is complete. I would also have you husband start researching the I130 process closely. Good Luck!
  5. Does you SSC have a note saying "Valid for Work Only With DHS Authorization"? If so, it is a restricted SSC, you can get that note removed with a GC. If the note is not on your SSC, then you are fine.
  6. My only thought was that CBP is also part of DHS, and when you apply for GE and go to the interview, they scan your GC. It is just a thought.
  7. Would applying for Global Entry at a CBP office also drive a SAVE update?
  8. YMMV. If applying through a post office, yes. If applying through a Passport Office directly with an appointment, maybe not. When my wife naturalized, she applied the day after her oath at the Detroit Passport Office, and they made a copy of her certificate, a supervisor approved the copy, and my wife was able to keep her original. Now that was all pre-covid when you could walk in to a Passport Office, so I would plan to give up the original certificate.
  9. Just curious, did you factor in the CA population loss?
  10. That being the case, you are probably better going through Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha or Istanbul.
  11. The figure I saw came from The Guardian. Of course we know how they tend to hype things they feel politically strongly about. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2021/oct/19/case-closed-999-of-scientists-agree-climate-emergency-caused-by-humans
  12. I fully agree about AA and CP. I use Waze regularly, and even though Google bought them, it is still superior. Of course we are hearing some car companies saying they are ending AA and CP compatibility. Now that is going to be hard IMO as even though Tesla does that now, Tesla owners will put up with it, but will GM, Ford, etc. customers accept it.
  13. Hmm, I always keep hearing 99.9% of scientists agree. Here's the Climate Dissent You're Not Hearing About Because It's Muffled by Society's Top Institutions This summer the International Monetary Fund summarily canceled a presentation by John Clauser, a Nobel Prize-winning physicist who publicly disavows the existence of a climate “crisis.” The head of the nonprofit with which Clauser is affiliated, the CO2 Coalition, has said he and other members have been delisted from LinkedIn for their dissident views. Meanwhile, a top academic journal retracted published research doubting a climate emergency after negative coverage in legacy media. The move was decried by another prominent climate dissenter, Roger Pielke Jr., as “one of the most egregious failures of scientific publishing that I have seen” – criticism muffled because the academic says he has been blocked on Twitter (now X) by reporters on the climate beat. https://www.realclearinvestigations.com/articles/2023/09/13/heres_the_climate_dissent_youre_not_hearing_about_because_its_muffled_by_societys_top_institutions_978511.html
  14. I agree, nothing lost (other than time) in trying. I know pre-covid, many folks were able to walk-in for biometrics even on days other than scheduled. Biometrics take about 5 minutes, so they should be able to fit you in.
  15. That is the interesting thing on this one. She seems to be taking the victim route relative to something she chose to do instead of owning it. Not really sure why she thought this would stay private.
  16. Seems most of the focus of the MSM is the West Coast cities and maybe Chicago. Sounds like DC is also a crime ridden Blue city. Washington DC is now so crime-ravaged locals are driving tiny distances instead of walking and are too scared to go out during the day, as woke city sees homicides spike by 29% in a YEAR https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12511809/washington-dc-crime-surge-murders.html
  17. Caught, finally. Escaped prisoner Danelo Cavalcante is caught after 13 days on the run - where he broke into home, stole a rifle and left Pennsylvania residents fearing for their lives https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12513495/Danelo-Cavalcante-caught-search.html https://www.foxnews.com/us/convicted-killer-danelo-cavalcante-captured-pennsylvania-nearly-2-weeks-prison-escape
  18. The closest I see as a direct flight out of Ninoy Aquino International Airport is KLM to Amsterdam. What is your ultimate destination?
  19. It kind of surprised me that someone who works at Oberlin College actually had some sense. I wonder if another big lawsuit is in order? Oberlin College coach reassigned over stance on trans athletes, says new role has 'no contact with students' "I have been taken out of the role of coach, which is what I've done for 27 years," she told "America's Newsroom" Tuesday. "I've been a P.E. teacher, a coach and a teacher of programs of wellness, yoga, all sorts of things, kickboxing…and [been] asked to take a role as employee wellness program manager, which would have no contact with students and be creating things - which is paperwork." Russell, who served as head coach for five years at the Ohio liberal arts school, said she has been ridiculed by administrators and players after sharing her views on social media on transgender swimmer Lia Thomas' NCAA championship win in 2022. https://www.foxnews.com/media/oberlin-college-coach-reassigned-stance-trans-athletes-says-new-role-contact-students
  20. I guess she thinks things put on the internet are meant to be private. To me that shows a complete lack of intelligence.
  21. I understand AOC felt threatened, but I agree, these folks were trespassing, and should be prosecuted as those from Jan. 6.
  22. You can probably file the I130 for your brother as it will take years, and is not a bad idea to get into the system.
  23. no, each person that wants to apply for a B2 needs their own DS160. you are just being honest as to the plans as they stand now. No, each DS160 is processed separately, so it could be any combination of approval and denials. Good Luck!
  24. Not really much you can do about it at this point. You can roll the dice and hopes the CO finds this a non issue, or you can get legally married and start the spousal visa process. Good Luck!
