Incorrect, the onus is on the Government to prove the OP committed Material Misrepresentation when dealing with officials, not on the OP to prove they didn't.
OP, you can marry and then adjust if that is what works best for you. Your soon to be brother in-law is correct; additionally, your case is unlikely to "raise suspicions" so I disagree with the poster who said that.

Passport + green card + marriage certificate = you're good! Remember to book all the tickets in your maiden (passport) name.

Are you in the US right now?
OK nevermind, I didn't read your post properly. Since you are in the US right now, you have the option of marrying and filing the I-130 and I-485 concurrently and skipping the visa part altogether.

You're adjusting status from a tourist visa, so this is the correct forum.

No filing fee is needed. Only a copy of the NOA1 for the I-485. It's free if the basis to it is being an AOS applicant regardless if it's filed with or after the AOS application.

The K-1 does NOT give authorization to work. She needs either the EAD or the green card. She needs to apply for adjustment of status (I-485/I-131/I-765)

You need the marriage certificate, not the license. Sometimes these are the same thing, sometimes these are different documents, depending on where you married. Make sure you are sending the marriage certificate.
The original marriage certificate stays at the court. You always get a certified copy. You can request additional certified copies. A photocopy of a certified copy should be fine for AOS, but some people send an actual certified copy. You won't get anything back.
You can send copies of the tax transcripts.
No need for bank statements at this stage.

No, the SSA doesn't do legal name changes. They merely update the card to show your new legal name, same as any USC who gets married and changes their name. So it doesn't matter what's on your SS card. The catch is that for people such as yourself the SSA will want to see your new (married) name in the SAVE database first, and that happens when you apply for AOS with your married name, USCIS will update your name then.
Your marriage certificate is your name change document. USCIS will accept it.

Your marriage certificate is the document that allows you to start using your husbands name. Even if there is not a mention to what it will be.
You had to sign it with your maiden name, that's correct. You're only legally married after they record/ file it at the county clerk/ court or whatever place it is they keep the records.
You will file your aos/ ead/ AP forms with the name you want to use it from now on, married or maiden, it's your choice. If you're going to use your married name, don't forget to attach a copy of the certificate and also mention in "other names used" your maiden name.
Ssn offices are a hit or miss, some will change it with only the certificate, others won't. A safe bet is to wait for ead or gc to go there and change.
Take a deep breath, don't panic.
    Good luck!

I'm not saying not to be honest. A persons marital status just isn't relevant during an interview. It has no impact on your ability to do the job. There's just no reason to mention it.
Maybe it's just a cultural difference in America to not discuss your personal life during an interview.
I encourage you both to use your spouse, friends and family to network. It's so difficult to get a job without networking here.

Lainie B got a reaction from ~Alessa~ in Marriage ceremony in the court, is it necessary having the rings?
Depends on where you get married - in some places the marriage license and marriage certificate are two separate documents, in others the marriage license becomes the marriage certificate once it is certified by the court.

You wife will get a 2-year or 10-year green card depending on how long she has been married to you on the day she enters the US, not the date you submit the petition or the date she gets the visa. So you should apply now rather than wait, she can always delay her entry date to ensure it is after your 2-year anniversary, and so she gets the 10-year green card.

A signature is just "making your mark." You do not have to write your full name. You can just write "X." You can write Mickey Mouse if you want and it is legal. Whatever she has always done is fine.

    hi
don't worry, you only had to get married within 90 days of arrival, there is no obligation to adjust status within the 90 days
you don't need to send the i130 since you entered on a k1 visa
