Caryh got a reaction from AKN2 in CAN I CANCEL MY FAINCE ISSUED K1 VISA?
A letter of intent which she has signed. A relationship which she says she wants to continue for a lifetime, which makes it hardly clear at all that she does not wish to marry, see post #5. People get cold feet when things get close. There is nothing in your position or this situation which comes even close to meeting the legal standard of fraud. If you were to say its your opinion its a bad idea, something that I'd agree with actually, you'd be fine. But you're throwing around the word fraud, which has legal definitions and standards that just are not there. If he enters on the K-1 still with his intent to marry, and leaves if it does not occur, there is not the slightest way to call this fraud, as his intent is all that matters.
One big factor in order for fraud to be true, is their must be a victim. There is no victim if he comes to the USA on the K-1 and attempts to convince his fiancee to marry. In fact about the only victim in this entire case is himself, who after going through the process, paid for the ticket, and quit his job, now finds his fiancee has gotten cold feet. If anything, it is his fiancee who comes closest to having committed fraud.
Sure there is no doubt a lot more we do not know about, as rarely we do, but this is hardly a case of fraud on the OP's part.

Caryh got a reaction from AKN2 in USC on deathbed, Filipina wife on CR1 Visa... Need some advice..
Personally I think its of primary importance to do things based on what the the father/husband would have wanted. Sure the daughter might not like the choices her father made, but it was his choices to make and not her's to decide for him. The wife, although young, did marry him and she should have some rights and say about what is happening with her husband and his assets. I'm pretty darn sure that is what he would have wanted.
I was in the position of having to make decisions for my mother as her health and wits failed her. At all times my decisions were based on what she wanted, or what she would have wanted when she could not coherently understand what was going on. I knew I was making the right decisions because I actually discussed what she wanted when she still had her wits about her. Wasn't easy to have this talk, but I knew the time would come that I would be glad I had it. Her decisions were not necessarily the ones I personally would have made, but they were her wishes and I respected her right to make them. I view it as my responsibility to carry out her wishes, not my own.
Some how I get the feeling in this situation the daughter is doing what she wants and not what her father would have wanted, likely because she didn't approve of how he lived his life when he could make his own decisions. I'm quite certain the father would not want her disrespecting his wife and keeping her in the dark about what is going on with finances of her husband. His wife seems like a person who truly loves and cares about her husband, regardless of the age gap between them. For the daughter to cut her out, lie to her, and keep her in the dark is an insult not only to her, but to the father.

Life has been good. Getting ready to retire in a few months. My marriage has worked out well and when I retire I’ll be moving to the Philippines. Our plans had been not to do this for another year but both of our employers are moving to other states. Doesn’t seem worth the effort to move for a year. So
    retirement now it is.

Not answering is where her problem came in. You've got a list of the hard questions they may throw at her again. Practice them, work on responses that feel right for her. My wife is also shy, and she got the he's divorced question. She got the he's older question, but not as large a gap as you. She got other questions that she could have viewed as being attacked, but in reality they're all just questions. There are not attacks unless you wish them to be so. Every question your wife was asked, my wife and I had talked about between each other long before we even thought about a CFO interview. The age difference of almost 17 years bothered me but didn't bother her at all. She told me if it doesn't bother her, why should it bother me? She was right and I haven't really thought twice about since. You wife doesn't need to be a lion, my wife isn't, except with family, but these are legit questions she should have already thought about and had answers for.

I should have thought to select non-immigrant for the K-1 on the link
I thought is was a little harsh to make K-1's wait for the greencard. A PDF document on the requirements would be nice to help when some DMV worker doesn't know the law though. I suppose you could always print the Gather Go get page though. I was happy the workers at our local DMV were well aware of the laws of our state and everything went smoothly. In Minnesota they add an immigration check date to the license, before which we needed to show up with her green card or have the license go invalid. It was based on the EAD expiration. When she got her green card we ran down and updated them, and they issued a new license card at no cost.

Did they put a date below the expiration date on your permit card? Or do you just have the paper receipt yet? Going the ID, permit, License route my wife was given an immigration check good for 1 year when she got the ID.

    from the embassy web site
    http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwhniv1.html
"Embassy personnel are available to provide assistance at each stage. Applicants who require interpreters must inform the interviewing officer on the day of their interview. There is no need to bring a relative or a friend to act as an interpreter as the Embassy can provide language assistance when an applicant requests for it.
Important note: American citizens and US Legal Permanent Residents are not allowed to accompany nonimmigrant visa applicants to the interviewing area."
If they don't let a citizen in, I doubt they're going to let your SIL in. But I could be wrong on that. Hopefully someone who's tried will speak up.
Is it a visitor or immigrant visa? It might make a difference.

Your dog must be vaccinated for rabies at least 30 days before traveling. It also will need to be vet checked for screw worm 1 week before traveling. The Philippines is on the list of countries that need this check. Bring this paperwork with you when you bring your pet to the USA. That is the extent of what the USA is going to want on your dog when you bring it. Next is totally dependent on the airlines you chose. You'll need to look at what they require for that information.
Cats do not require rabies vaccination. All other pet types, are going to be rather difficult.

Some one in his position should be documenting and protecting himself when his spouse starts throwing around the divorce word. And yes he should be calling the police when she starts hitting or scratching him. Had he been a woman, people would be all over telling him to call the police and get a restraining order. So far, its been her who has called the police. Its been her locking him out of joint accounts and the internet. So far I've seen you blaming him for everything when he's just reacting to what she's been doing, as if he should just ignore and accept her aggressive and abusive actions. His reactions have been fairly normal reactions from what I can see. Their marriage sounds like its over by her choice, he should do what he needs to do to protect himself. I think you've got some past bad experiences that are making you superimpose your own bad experiences on top of this situation and are ignoring what is being said.

I know you know that once the money train starts flowing over seas, it will never end. How many Phil families have said you can stop sending now, we have enough? Its much more likely that more in the family will start moving in and sharing a piece of that money train so the amount is forced to grow, or mama will go hungry. Because of course mama is never going to tell her hungry children, siblings, nieces, nephews, etc... they must move on and support themselves. Sending money back home is a double edged sword. It may originally been sent to help just the parents in retirement, but it is extremely common for extended family members to show up wanting help too. I'm extremely glad my wife's family is not like this. They're a bit better off than the extended family, and they needed to learn before I even came around that you can't let everyone leech off of you, or you'll only get dragged down.
