Hello! I booked a flight home to the Philippines in 3 weeks. This would be my first trip home since I received my green card. I m supposed to land in Cebu from LAX but last time I checked, they are still rerouting my destination to MNL for a mandatory 10- day quarantine, even if I ve been fully vaccinated since April. Other than the exorbitant expenses for the quarantine facility (which I need to book asap) and swabs, is there anything else I need to prepare for? My PH passport is still valid.

So 2Go sent a text to my wife that they will deliver her passport this afternoon. They told her she needs to have 400 pesos ready to pay the delivery person. Is that correct? I have never heard of anyone needing to pay for their delivery. Don't get me wrong, I would pay anything that they ask at this point just to get her visa with passport, but I want to make sure this ia legit and we are not being scammed by the delivery person.

Hello everyone! I have filed for a Petition for An Alien Relative in this case for my mother. My Dad died last year and can not wait for his ultimate journey back home in heaven . He died not from covid but from a heart attack but knowing how corrupt the Philippines is they have indicated in death cert that he was a probable covid, anyways that is for another story. For those people who are applying or thinking of applying for their parents this is my story. Hope it helps.

Advice on how to deal with misspelled name on SS card with an extension letter (ROC)

Hi, I was wondering if my issue falls in this category. Anyway, I have a long explanation about my SSN. I entered the US under CR1 (2019) and I have my SS card under my maiden name. I waited to change into my married name when I filed my ROC. And so, by March 2021 I got my extension letter under my married name now. Then I submitted the documents needed for the name change to the Social Security Administration office (via mail). It took a month to wait for the process to be done and I got my new SS card under my married name BUT they misspelled the first letter of my surname (married name). I called the SS office and told me to submit again the documents, so I did what they said. Knowing that my extension letter is a valid document, I submitted it with my expired green card and marriage certificate. (NOTE* the first time I submitted docs to them, my green card was not expired yet.) After about more than 2 weeks, I received a letter from them saying they cannot change my name because they need an unexpired green card. They do not accept extension letters. So I called them and explained everything. The first time I called, they told me that they do not accept extension letter but I said what will I do with the card then? He transferred me to the person who originally processed my name change, because he said he might be able to help me and give me a new card. I was transferred to a voice mail and was not able to talk to the person. So the next day I called again, a different person answered and again, I explained everything to them. I was getting frustrated because this new person who answered the phone is kinda blaming me for submitting an expired green card with an extension letter. It wasn't my fault though. Who misspelled my name in the first place? So, to end the conversation, I said I will just submit my new green card then. (I was frustrated and don't want to explain over and over). My ROC process will take at least a year since it's in MSC. Now, how will I apply for a job when my name is misspelled on my SS card? I only wanted to talk to that person who processed my card and I can't even get to that person. Hoping for any advice on how to deal with this. SS offices are still closed as far as I know. I am still using my maiden name right now since all my Identification cards are in my maiden name still. (Driver's license). I am just worried about on applying for a job with a misspelled surname.

FAQs: K Fianc (e) Visa Processing

Home | News & Events | FAQs: K Fianc (e) Visa Processing
10

Q: Why haven t I had my visa interview yet?
A: Our number one priority is the safety of our applicants and our staff. To allow for adequate social distancing, we have limited the number of visa applicants we can schedule for interview. We are finally in a position to interview a very limited number of K visas. The backlog is large, so it will be a slow process, but we are eager to begin.

Q. What can I do to prepare for my interview now?
A. Since it is likely that your interview will not be scheduled soon, you should wait until it is scheduled to prepare. Do not get a medical exam, buy plane tickets, quit your job, or do anything to prepare to move to the United States. There will be plenty of time to get everything done that you need to, from the time that you get your appointment notification.

Q: When can I schedule my K fianc (e) visa interview appointment?
A: Please do not contact us to schedule your visa interview. We will contact you to set up your interview when it is your turn. We will begin with applicants who had appointments that were canceled in March 2020. After we finish those cases, we will begin to interview cases in the order that we received them from the National Visa Center (NVC).

Q. How will I find out when my appointment is?
A. You will receive notification of your appointment via email with detailed instructions of your next steps.

Q: Is there any way to speed things up?
A: We ask that everyone be patient in waiting for their visa interview to be scheduled. There are very limited circumstances in which we can expedite your case. We consider expedites in the following cases:

  • If your child, who is applying for a K-2 visa, will turn 21 years old before December 31, 2021.
  • If your K-2 follow-to-join applicants will lose follow-to-join eligibility from the time thethe principal applicant was issued a K-1 visa.
  • If you have a U.S. citizen child who will travel with you.
  • The petitioner is an active-duty U.S. military member with pending deployment orders, pending Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders,.
  • The petitioner has documented medical issues and is currently in the Philippines and unable to travel to the United States without assistance from the K-1 applicant.

For the time being, we cannot expedite any other types of cases.

Q: I do not meet any of the criteria for K fianc (e) expedited processing, what should I do?
A: Please be patient and wait for your case to be scheduled.

Q: Can I request the Embassy to expedite the processing of my K fianc (e) visa case that is still with the National Visa Center (NVC)?
A: The same criteria for expedited processing outlined above will be applied to have a case expedited from the NVC. If your case is still with the NVC, you may contact them to request the case be expedited. You may contact the NVC through https://nvc.state.gov/inquiry. Additional contact information for the NVC is available online at: http://nvc.state.gov/ask.

Q: I am a plaintiff in Milligan v. Pompeo can I schedule my K visa interview?
A: The court order does not require that plaintiffs be given special priority ahead of other K1 applicants. K1 applicants who are named plaintiffs in Milligan v. Pompeo should contact the Embassy at https://ph.usembassy.gov/visas/contactus/ for guidance on scheduling a visa interview.
