IR5 Interview - Documents Needed (kept passport)

Hi All,

We missed an original copy of a document that we needed for our IR5 interview - it was my Birth Certificate (face palm, for real!!). I know, it's been a long process and such a simple overstep. I thought this entire time they had the originals. When we did our checklist, I asked if they had my BC, they said yes... not specifying original or copy. This morning, I get a text saying "all is good - we had a great interview and the officer was very pleasant. They said a lot of people get so nervous since it's quite a lifestyle change, they usually forget a doc or two." handed them a "refusal" notice with one single X that said "Original Copy Needed" and kept their passports.

We are sending it this week back to them. My question is (I haven't seen the documentation yet since my parents are en-route to travel back to their city) -- since they kept their passports and only requiring the 1 documentation, that they are not actually "refused" but more like conditionally approved upon seeing the original doc. I think what's catching me off guard is that they said they got a "refusal visa documentation with X for original copy" but I haven't seen it yet so I'm unsure.

We were sooo consumed with being covid safe and getting all the things needed to travel across the country that I cannot believe after all this wait, we missed something so simple...

Otherwise, my parents said the interview experience was nice and pleasant and the officer was very kind to them.

Thanks in Advance

P3 Email to Consulate

Hello!

I'm finally at the stage where I've gathered my documents, received my P3, and am ready to email the consulate per their instructions.
I have set up the subject line appropriately, I have my scanned DS-160 confirmation, color bio page of my passport, and the competed checklist.

I'm just overthinking (as I do) and I'm not sure if I'm supposed to include something in the body of the email? I've followed the instructions specifically and I know they don't state having to send an actual message, but I'd just like to make sure and confirm!

i-751 with spouse and mother-in-law

Hello!

I'm preparing to file my i-751 in July and had a question. When I filed the K1 visa and the adjustment of status, my spouse and my mother-in-law filled out the forms jointly as the co-sponsors (my spouse was going to school and didn't have a stable income so we decided to depend on our mother-in-law). With i-751, would I need my mother-in-law to fill out a separate i-751 form as a co-sponsor? Both my spouse and I have jobs now, and we are not worried about the federal poverty level, so we would not need to depend on mother-in-law's financial capacity. However, I wasn't sure since I submitted the previous forms with her as the join co-sponsor, this would cause inconsistency.

Thanks so much in advance!

Hi,

Requesting expediated interview date in Montreal embassy due to a standing a job offer?

I have applied GC under IR1 category and DQ'd on Jan 16 2021. I know they are doing interviews for DQ'd in spet 2020. I know I have few months left to get an interview but my wife works in USA and I have a job offer from a multinational company. I really dont wanna let this opportunity go. Company is willing to do my TN ( I am a canadian citizen) but chances of getting TN approved is 50-50 due to green card is in process.

What are your thoughts about me requesting an expedited interview ?

Once an IR1/CR1 case is DQ’d how is the interview scheduled?

I always thought that once one is DQ d one is out in a queue, and cases are scheduled for interview based on the date of DQ. For example a person who DQ d on March 21 2021 will not be interviewed until all the people DQ d until March 20 are scheduled. Ofcourse the exception to this are cases that are expedited, but keeping that aside...

I am confused because I have seen two cases today didn t receive interview letters when many who DQ d weeks after them did (all within the same consulate ofcourse).

Does this happen on occasion? If so, why?
