DV Lottery of K1 Visa - Can I file for both?
I applied for the DV lottery 2025 and hope to be selected this year. My fiancé and I discovered that there is a fiancé visa for the USA. Do you think if we apply for the K1 visa but are selected for the DV lottery that we can stop the fiancé visa process? What are the timelines and options here :)?

    Confused about steps after marriage
My fiancee arrived last month on K1 fiance visa and we got married yesterday. It seems from what I have seen online that I made a mistake by not getting SSN prior to marriage? I am going to the SSN office on Monday to gather more information... also worried about employment authorization and travel authorization(s). Thanks for any insights!

Divorce from non-immigrant (out of status) and financial responbsibility

Tourist visa cancelled by CBP agent. Can we still get a CR1 or K1 Visa?
Upon my gf's most recent arrival, her tourist visa was cancelled at the airport due to her frequent visits last year and suspicion of working here. She was denied entry and sent back same day. Is a CR1 or K1 visa process an option still? I would appreciate any advice or tips you can provide!

    Hello everyone,

my case was approved on 2/5.

i have been trying to transfer my k1 visa case from auckland new zealand to guangzhou china for the past 2 months.

guangzhou has already accepted the transfer request but auckland still hasn t sent it. I have tried calling auckland consulate many many times and they always respond that they will escalate my case and get back to me. Up to now, my case still hasnt transferred.

does anyone have any advice on what i should do? I don t get how guangzhou accepted the transfer request but auckland still hasnt transferred it. Im worried my case will get cancelled as it s already 3 months since approval from uscis. I will not stop contacting both embassies until the transfer is successful and interview is scheduled.

should i contact my senator? Should i keep reaching out to both embassies?

    thank you

Approved K-1 but didnt marry, now filing CR-1

Hi and thanks in advance for any advice or tips.

My now wife and I originally filed for the k-1/k-2 visa and were approved. She and my step son came to the US December 2023 after the approval. She loved it here, he HATED it here, did not adjust well and long story short we had to take him back home to live with her family. We explored other options like me taking him back home and leaving her here but there were some concerns about a foriegner traveling alone with him in the philippines, she didnt have a family member here that could travel back with him and we were not going to send him unaccompanied. So she unfortunately had to leave to take him back home. While I'm sure many will say that we should have made him wait and then filed for the parole adjustment but you will just have to trust me, that would not have worked so we made the decision that we did. He just wasnt doing well here in the states. We never broke up, never withdrew anything as we didnt feel there there was any need to. We just planned to get married later than we originally anticipated.

She did leave before the k-1 expired so there would be no problems with overstaying her visa, we are now going to have to go back through the long, hard process of filing for the cr-1. We did get married via the Utah online process but I went there to the Philippines for us to be together with her and her family during the ceremony. We could not get married the tradional way in the philippines because I could not get away from work long enough to meet their guidelines to legally marry there.

So now we are legally married, filed CR-1, ROM, etc and are concerned about them asking why we are doing this again and didnt just get married when she was here. As simple as it may sound no-one can walk in your shoes when trying to make such a difficult decision. We dont want them to deny us and we cant imagine what kind of RFE we could get since they have all of our previous records on file. In fact I wish (of course not) that it would expedite the case having already been approved and familiar with our file.

I searched for a similar case on here but couldnt find one. If anyone can give us a little insight as to what to anticipate or if we should anticipate delays due to the unusual nature of our filing we would appreciate it.

    N-400 and back taxes

My husband is applying for citizenship this week. We owe federal taxes and are on payments plans to pay them (2021, 2022 I was self employed and we had our W4 s wrong). I (US Citizen) already owed significant federal taxes with my ex-husband (he was self-employed) which are also on payment plans, so when I go to show evidence that we are in compliance with the plans, it shows that the payments we have been making are going to the older taxes (ex: 2017 taxes) and nothing has gone to the more recent ones yet, but we are still in-compliance with the payment plan arrangements. Is this going to cause problems? Should we figure out a way to pay the taxes that myself and my current husband owe before his interview?

Hello! My now wife and I just got married this weekend. We are planning on adjusting status from her tourist visa. I want to get her onto a health insurance plan ASAP, but my workplace has it out to be SO expensive. I see that in my State (PA), with my income, I qualify for insurance HALF the price of my workplace. Am I able to use this insurance, or does that count as not being able to financially support petitioning for her? For reference, I am looking to apply through "Pennie" in PA. Things You Wish You Knew During 221g?

Hi, I wanted to start a thread where people can share things they wish they knew about 221g.

    Some things I've heard/learned:
    1. Writ of Mandamus is no longer advised as of now, because the judge is throwing out cases, even in cases of 16 months of 221g.

    2. If I had known my case would be at risk of a 8+ month 221g, I would've done CR-1 so I could legally be married to my spouse, and his company/work could also get me a way to stay with him legally. K-1 was not the right choice for me. I don't even think it is faster than CR-1 anymore. I believe CR-1 cases are also more likely to be accepted for transfers, which are in high demand for Russians. (It's hard for them to get to Warsaw, their default embassy).

Some things I would like to know:
    1. Is the Ombudsman an entity that I could contact regarding 221g? I haven't seen anything about it so far.
    2. There was a thread here saying their 221g case expired. Should I be proactively emailing the embassy to prevent expiration? Is it possible my case just expires anyways?
    3. Does the visa, when approved, need to be picked up in person, or can I mail it?
    4. When the visa is approved, can I have it sent to another embassy to be picked up?
