Community SpotlightDV Lottery of K1 Visa - Can I file for both?
Petrisaint Mpaka posted a topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures,
I applied for the DV lottery 2025 and hope to be selected this year. My fiancé and I discovered that there is a fiancé visa for the USA. Do you think if we apply for the K1 visa but are selected for the DV lottery that we can stop the fiancé visa process? What are the timelines and options here :)?-

Confused about steps after marriage
SP1988 posted a topic in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas,
My fiancee arrived last month on K1 fiance visa and we got married yesterday. It seems from what I have seen online that I made a mistake by not getting SSN prior to marriage? I am going to the SSN office on Monday to gather more information... also worried about employment authorization and travel authorization(s). Thanks for any insights!-

Tourist visa cancelled by CBP agent. Can we still get a CR1 or K1 Visa?
yotajeeper posted a topic in What Visa Do I Need - Family Based Immigration,
Upon my gf's most recent arrival, her tourist visa was cancelled at the airport due to her frequent visits last year and suspicion of working here. She was denied entry and sent back same day. Is a CR1 or K1 visa process an option still? I would appreciate any advice or tips you can provide!-

Do we have to submit the bank statements and pay slips of the petitioner along with i1864 and tax transcripts ?
Is it necessary? And if its necessary how many months bank statements and pay slips are needed?

3 RepliesGot this in my email today. I guess this means it won't be much longer until I can start scheduling things? (I omitted my MNL number, FYI):
To whom it concerns:
This notice is to inform you that NVC is currently holding your approved Form I-129F (Petition for Alien Fiance(e)), and it has been at least 60 days since we received it from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS). Your case number is MNL----------------.
Where local conditions and restrictions allow, some embassies and consulates have resumed processing a limited visa workload, including K-1 nonimmigrant visa applications. For embassies and consulates that were unable to resume processing their visa workload, NVC is holding your approved Form I-129F. We cannot predict when routine visa services will resume, and we cannot guarantee or predict when your case will be sent to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General in Manila. When NVC does forward your case, you will receive another notification.
Approved Forms I-129F have a 120-day expiration date from the date of approval by USCIS. Once your designated embassy or consulate resumes normal operations, a consular officer will revalidate your petition for another 120 days. You do not need to take any action for this revalidation to happen, though you may need to provide evidence that you still qualify for the K-1 nonimmigrant visa. For the most up-to-date information about the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General's operating status, visit their website at https://usembassy.gov.
Thank you for your patience.
Sincerely,
National Visa Center Director
IO changed my application to 3 year rule at interview 3:35 pm today

3 RepliesGood news, I passed my interview! But I didn't expect this to happen - at the start of the interview my IO explained that he was changing my application to the 3 year rule, rather than the 5 year rule I had applied under (which I qualify for). He said this was "easier" since they only needed to go back 3 years for my travel, work history etc. Thankfully he didn't ask for any additional information/proof - I had already uploaded my marriage certificate just in case.
I wanted to share this since I've mostly heard of the opposite happening in interviews (officers changing a 3 year to a 5 year). But I walked out with my approval and my status is updated to "Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled." It was just unexpected!
