PSA: If entering the USA 2 years after marriage, kindly remind the immigration officer of this
When we last entered the US, our immigration officer said "Oh, hmm I wonder if I could go ahead and change you an IR-1."  The agent right next to him said "Yes, you can do that" and he acted surprised. His comments made it pretty clear he was going to erroneously issue us a CR-1 and he seemed to not even know he could change the visa status until his coworker advised him (THANK GOODNESS she overheard!).  I don't know how onerous the process is to correct such an oversight but I'm glad we didn't have to find out!

Just wanted to pass this along in the hopes it saves someone from any problems with the wrong stamp being placed in the passport, as I've read about here before....  I would kindly remind the officer "We married >2 years ago.  We can enter with an IR-1 visa now right?"

Traveled to Canada for 20 days after entering the U.S. on a K-1 visa (June 1–22). Seeking reentry under Automatic Visa Revalidation (AVR).
I entered the U.S. on a K-1 visa on June 1st and left for Canada on June 2nd, remaining here for 20 days. I am now attempting to return to the U.S. through Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ) using Automatic Visa Revalidation (AVR). My K-1 visa is expired, but my I-94 is still valid. Am I ok?

Wrong USCIS application form filed by my lawyer!
Hello, so my wife came in k-1 visa to USA and we got married and all. We filled for work permit and green card together but while doing that my lawyer filed for I-130 no idea why. Will that application make my process for work permit and green card slow? If so how do I withdrawal that application? My lawyer isn’t helpful at all. I need some help…

Seeking advice for Thai/US couple - What US visa path to take?
My gf and I live in Thailand but spend 2-4months in the US per year. Once/if we have children age 5+, the time split would become vice versa. We have no plans to live full-time in the United States in the next 5 years, but I visit my family and friends 2-3x per year for 2-3 weeks at a time. I would love it if she can join me for those trips and experience that part of my life. What options do we have -- US visa wise, maybe a tourist or fiance visa later? Other?

Abandoned AOS and now regret it
Please be nice, I know I made a mistake... But got my K1 approved and arrived in the US June 25, 2024 and applied for AOS February 25, 2025 -- then left the US (abandoned my AOS). Will I be banned for re-entry to the US -- even under a spouse visa?

US Citizen with Foreign Fiancé: When and How to Get Married?
I'm currently living and working in the United States. My fiancé currently lives in Japan. We have been dating for about 6 months, and we have met in person several times, but we are not yet married.
My fiancé will be visiting me in the United States on a tourist visa some time in March or April and staying for about 3 months. I want to file for a fiance/spouse visa asap -- what's next?

    CEAC status stuck in Ready

I was issued a 221(g) after my interview, and I submitted the requested documents. In late November, I was asked to complete a medical exam and submit my passport because the medical exam I had done earlier had expired.

On December 17 (about two weeks later), my case status changed from Refused to Ready. Since then, the last updated date keeps changing, but the status still shows Ready.

Has anyone had a similar experience? What was the outcome?

Me and my fiance are both rather boring people who don't do much nor do we have a work/life balance that lets us spend a lot of time together in person.

We will be together again for 2 weeks soon and wanted to use this time together to better document our relationship as we don't really have much to so for given how boring and simple we are. As of now we just have call/text logs and a few trips spend together, a handful of photos and nothing more.

Would anyone have some general advice or tips on things we could do to better.

    Thanks in advance

    Marriage/name change in Brazil

My wife and I got married last October via Utah Online wedding. She is currently living in Brasilia. We have apostilled documents such as marriage certificate/license.

Wife is trying to register her marriage and name change in Brazil to get updated documents like passport, CPF, ID. She got the marriage certificate and license translated.

However, she is having issues with the name change. She's at the local cart rio, but because the marriage certificate we have only lists her maiden name, they won't allow her to change her name and get updated documents. The thing is US marriage certs list maiden names and not married names.

    What can we do?

    Hi Everyone,

After checking https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-864ez.pdf I see this note

`NOTE: You MUST attach a photocopy or transcript of your Federal income tax return for only the most recent tax year.`

I'm assuming that since 2025's tax return will be due in April I can still submit my 2024 tax return as my "last" tax return right?

    Thanks!

USCIS are asking if me and fianc met within two years (Feb 2023 - Feb 2025)

We met twice in October 2024 in USA when I was travelling before submitting for a K1 visa (Feb 2025) We didn t take photos together as didn t think of needing them but have a few videos from the dates.

We supplied receipts from the dates, travel documentation of me coming into the states but they re asking as the petitioner and I cannot be seen in the photos (screenshot from video) next to each other.

Due to our cultures and religion we didn t meet multiple times after and have hotels booked. We had stayed in contact daily since then, planned our engagement, had talks with families over the phone / video call. We then had our engagement recently (November 2025) will this help our cause or not as it s not within the dates specified by USCIS.

They re asking for affidavits but stating it ll hold minimum weight so a waiver is allowed if extreme hardship or we have violated the terms of an K1 due to not meeting.

I am in limbo of what to do and stuck as I don t want to submit with the new evidence of our engagement and it not matter as it isn t within the time frame they re stating.

@aracia70, I saw your message on the thread I started about Ciudad Juarez. I've added your case to my tracker. I usually post an update once a month if anyone I am tracking received their interview assignment.

Hello @Cesarr. I hope you are doing well. I wanted to check with you to ask if you've received any news from the NVC? Some people with DQ dates in October have started to receive appointments. Did you receive a message?
