Hi everyone,

Well after being in removal proceedings for nearly two years( since Jan 2006) I have finally received The Immigration Judge's decision. She has terminated the proceedings( due to my I360 approval back in May) and now my I 485 can finally be forwarded to Detroit for an interview- whooohoooooo!!!!! :dance:

It has taken almost 31/2 years to get this far and now I'm on the home stretch and can finally get to see my children soon - I'm so, so happy.

Prima facie determination received from Vermont 20th Nov 2005

DIVORCED JANUARY 25th 2006

EAD applied for again (jeez I need to work ) 28th Feb 2006

Removal hearing July 12th 2006

RFE's received for I360 and EAD 13th October 2006

NOID received March 2007

EAD denied March 2007

Back to Immigration Court April 18th 2007

NOID request for evidence received USCIS 3rd May 2007

I 360 touched May 31st 2007

I 360 actually approved May 30th 2007

EAD filed June 23rd 2007

I 485 filed July 24th 2007

NOA1 for I 485 August 1st 2007

EAD approved August 6th 2007

Medical with CS August 28th 2007

Biometrics August 24th 2007

Paperwork sent to Immigration Judge to finally terminate removal proceedings September 10th 2007

 

GREEN CARD FINALLY APPROVED AFTER 4 YEARS September 9th 2008 :D

 

N-400 Filed online 03/04/2018

That has to be such a relief to get to this point. I have been following your "story" for quite some time, and that's very good news!!!!

Still waiting for our cards...Had to file I-90 as they sent them to the wrong address.

March 9th, 2010, Received GC that has been lost in the mail for 10 months. Still waiting for my son's that is lost as well.

Filed Waiver for my son's 10 year GC and it was approved. He finally received his GC after its been missing for 2 years.

Thanking God this is over for 10 years.

Congratulations to you.

As someone who's just been through Detroit for her I-485 interview, I can say that the experience was much easier than expected. The CO had a wry sense of humor......great for me (it felt like being back in the UK), but he gave the impression that by approving us he was doing his part to make the USA a better place. Sounds silly, but we talked about it quite a bit on the ride back home. He was just a nice man.

In fact, because they just have cubicles, we heard what sounded like an older Polish woman be called for her Citizenship interview.....but came back when she was unable to speak English well enough to pass. The CO interviewing her spoke to the woman's son and assured him that his mum could come back and try again. She seemed quite regretful that she couldn't approve the older Polish lady.

So, at least two of the CO's (and probably more!!) are polite, professional.....and just nice people.

Hope this makes you feel more at ease going into your interview.
