Hello Everyone! I hope you are all doing well.

The petitioner is sponsoring the beneficiary for an IR1 spousal visa (Islamabad, Pakistan) and is currently at the CEAC stage. The case was approved this month. Since tax filings are due in April and the sponsor is able to upload documents now, I am hearing that the petitioner should upload financial documents/information for 2024, 2023, and 2022, and then provide 2025 financials as additional documents once April arrives. Is this correct - or should the order be 2025, 2024, 2023 - much appreciated!

That is what I would do, or you can wait until you file your 2025 taxes and then leave out the the 2022 information.  Btw, if memory serves, you only actually have to provide the most recent tax filings as evidence for the I864 (you report income for the last three years on the form), so it really doesn't matter except for providing the most recent information when you can.

Good Luck!

you would mean NVC stage

at present only last 3 years means 2024 and back but if delay NVC stage of NVC till after 4/15 , you can send IRS transcripts for 2025, 2024 and 2023

I would complete my taxes (online) ASAP and be prepared to add them if u complete the I 864 now and take them to interview

BTW hope u added your spouse to tax returns as married and this does help prove the marriage is bona fide

you can file MFS but the standard deduction is only $15,750 instead of $31,500 for MFJ

you can not file HOH as that indicates unmarried at end of the year (and this has changed as before all u needed was a qualifying child dependent)

It'll be at least 18 months until the interview, so just upload what you have for now and then you can take the latest to the interview.

Good luck.

I am in the same situation. I am at the NVC stage & I have tax transcripts from 2022 to 2024 already. I have 2025 W2s but haven't filed 2025 taxes yet. All of those years (2022-2024) my income is more than $20,000 over the 125% of 2025 federal poverty level for a family of 3 for the 48 states (33,312. per year) I've been more than $51,000 in 2022, with each year  having an increase in income, to $57,000 in 2025. I want to get the ball rolling with the I864 by sending in my 2022-2024 tax transcripts and later have my wife bring the original tax return & W2s from 2025 with her or the transcript from that year if we have it by then, to her interview. Please let me know. Much appriciated.

Good luck.

With that kind of timeline, the petitioner would not just take updated financial documents to the interview.  They would upload an updated affidavit of support and updated tax return and pay stub before the interview.  If possible, best to get the 2025 return filed right away.  The year you sponsor an immigrant is not a good year for delay or filing an extension.
