I would start by studying the guide (linked below).  Whether you use a lawyer or not is up to you, but if you are a fairly organized person, comfortable with getting the evidence needed for the forms, able to fill out the forms, and do not have a case involving any past legal issues, you probably do not need a lawyer, but that is completely up to you.  The community at VJ will be happy to help you answer specific questions as you go through the process if you decide to do it yourself.

Good Luck!

you can consult with lawyer and check the fees

but truth is

you provide all documents and all the attorney office does is file online

their work is then done /they do not represent you during interview

you are responsible for what the office submits

common mistakes attorney offices from foreign documents

ghana writes last name first / secretary may type this wrong by not converting surname and given name

ghana writes day then month on birth certificate and again typist may not convert to month /day

secretarys do not include all children and its hard to petition them later if the name is not on original I 130   / all children even grown ones must be listed  on the I 130

there are stories on here if you search in the search box above of members who had issues with attorneys

BTW if he has any children to immigrate ,  they need their own  I 130 with all fees as required

please when you submit the I 130 (do it onine) , complete a timeline on your profile and Id country with a flag as this helps later when you have questions so we can reference the info

the very best to you 2

You right cus we tried to go with a lawyer who made a lot of mistakes with our marriage date and a lot of information we provided so we decided to cancel the petition and take our money and do it ourselves

I want to do everything online cus I don’t want to do the mailing process.

easiest way

include a good email ID as after the original I 791 letter (receipt of petition) all correspondence will be sent to email
