He was elected by a landslide. When he was elected Davao was one of the most dangerous cities in the world.  When he left office it was one of the safest.  He announced, "Drug dealers use now or you will leave in a box."

 

He with his no nonsense approach to fighting crime and corruption are legendary. He was a very popular President also.  If you committed crim the punishment was swift and harsh.

 

The son of Fernidand  Marcos came to power.  He is super corrupt.  Duterte was a thorn in his side. The current President let the international criminal court go into Davao and arrest Duterte and charge him with crimes against humanity.  Extrajudicial killings.
