Some key points

- green card holders who voted or attempted to vote at blocked from citizenship

- deportation can be initiated for any green card holder who committed voter fraud or claimed us citizenship to receive a benefit.

I imagine people who got accidentally registered will be freaking out.

That is a felony and can result in prison before deportation.

They tried to allow non citizens to vote in NYC 🤦‍♂️

Not sure if that would've applied here though or just federal.

Most likely similar to what happened to marijuana. State may be OK with it, but federals (incl. USCIS) not.

And that prevents applicant from getting immigration benefit.

All  i have to do to vote is register (no one asks for proof of citizenship at the office-even i had my naturalization papers with me.

then at the voting place , i show voting registration and DL with photo ID

19 states allow illegals to have DL and DC also allows it

my query?  will the voting polls start asking for proof of citizenship like a US passport or US birth certificate ?  that would help

a resident of NYC can not also own a handgun (unless law enforcement) , so there should be no shooting and killing in the city by hand guns

From January 2025 to May 2025, New York City recorded 264 shootings and 112 murders,

so, those who break the laws , don't care about the laws

I've seen posts where the DMV have signed people up for voting automatically when they didn't request it.

Always tricky to know whether it was fully DMV fault or the immigrant didn't pay enough attention and signed tablet / screen without checking details. If I'm not mistaken, I remember seeing boxes for voting registration and US citizen when renewing DL in California. And there was a button to confirm details. I always read them and ensured it didn't say I was a US citizen

I guess an immigrant having a RealID could argue that they've presented documents to establish that they were not a US citizen.

True. But if DMV makes a mistake it's still up to immigrant to check the screen or papers before signing anything

We don't get to see the screen here 🤷‍♀️

We do sign a paper form before reaching the service counter.  If the data entry is erroneous later, we'd have no way to know, but the copy of our paper form would show it was their mistake.  What a mess.

That's not proof, someone who purposely did it could also make the same argument.

What has changed?
