Hi, so im a permanent resident here in the united states for almost 2 years now. i went back to west Africa to get married last month. i want to know the timeline for brining my wife to the US. ive read blogs and articles and it says a permanent resident can file i-130 for their spouse it just takes a long time. i can apply for citizenship in 2028. i'm hoping to start the process with my LPR status and hopefully elevate when i become a US citizen.

That would be the way to do it, probably being a Citizen will get it done.

By that time, he'll be reminding NVC, not USCIS.  Petition approvals are the same timeline for LPRs as for US Citizens.  The extra wait is at NVC.

Interesting, did that change very recently? It still says they prioritize immediate relative I-130’s on the USCIS website. And is it just F2A’s or are all preference based family petitions now processed in the same timeframe as IR’s?

They may prioritize a bit but the difference in timeline to petition approval has never been that noticeable.  It certainly won't take three years.

13-17 months for any citizen. So you should be hearing something in the next 3 months.

Past February as in February 2025? Or 2024? As @OldUser said, it's about 16 months on average so if it was 2025 you won't hear anything until next year, if it was 2024 then hopefully very soon.

Good luck.

Good points. I somehow assumed 2024, but if @Nena Lis filed Feb 2025, there's another 13 months to go.
