Happy New Year! We're being homebodies tonight -- he is getting over a cold, so we passed on a party. We're making black eyed peas and collard greens to eat at midnight for good luck, and right now we are drinking this: https://www.pressthenpress.com/products/eric-bordelet-corme

Really interesting -- I'd never heard of Corme before. Kind of funky and very aromatic. We're following up with some Sea Smoke sparkling wine and leftover Christmas crackers when we get closer to the midnight hour.

Happy New Year to all!

 

Yesterday was spent drinking punch and cider of the non-alcoholic variety, making up a seafood platter, chicken salad sandwiches, and cheese/crackers for snacking, watching movies with plenty of popcorn, and playing Scrabble-Monopoly - a new mashup of the two games. Dessert was a Smith Island cake by me. Briefly watched Anderson Cooper get silly drunk for a while.

We stayed in last night.  I got a great nights sleep, much of it on the couch waiting for the moment.  Unfortunately I woke up at 1:00am and headed straight to bed.

 

Today we visited my daughter and the newborn twins.  Came back and had a traditional meal of hamburger and fresh corn on the cob.
