My wife had interview today at Houston, TX .

N-400 Filed on 11/10/2022 , 3 year rule. Interview Scheduled 12/14/2022 

Inter view date 1/18/2023

Woman Officer was nice and friendly. She asked following Questions.

1.What is the rule of law?

2. In what month we vote for the President?

3. what is the power of state ?

4. Name on state at the border of Canada?

5. Name one of the longest rivers in USA?

6. Do not remember.

Reading: Do not remember.

Writing: Washington is on the dollar bill.

She passed and officer give her paper marked " Decision can not be made ". 

Officer told my wife that she has to go through the residency days calculations and will approve later. 

Actually my wife was denied because of 57 days short on her physical residency in her first N-400 interview on  11/9/2022, 

it was miscalculation on our part as officer mentioned that my wife stayed 491 days and she would have stayed 548 days  to be eligible.

Therefore she was denied that time and now this time she has 600 days of presence in US on the day of submitting N-400 (11/10/2022).

That is the story of the day and Insha Allah this time our Attorney made right calculation., She need 548 and now got 600.

 

Status still showing Interview Scheduled and estimating time 6 months, no updates yet, all the best.

A few questions for anyone who may have had experience at the Houston gears rd center. Are family allowed to witness the oath ceremony? Do they do the name change there as well? Thanks in advance.

No guests at the ceremonies.  When Hubs did it, it was more like a DPS driver's licenses, cattle herding experience than a cool, becoming a citizen kind of vibe.  

 

Any updates on interview dates to oath ceremony scheduling?  Curious because I have my interview Apr. 10 and we've had a trip to Europe booked for months now that leaves at the end of May.  Require passports to go to Europe and return.

Thanks for the info. My wifes interview was the 27th of feb and oath ceremony next week. Super quick. With name change as well.

I’m not asking about requesting a combo. Just wanting people to give me their experience at the local houston office if they had a combo interview and what documents they brought with them.

Interview went fine! MyUSCIS account has already updated with “oath ceremony will be scheduled”. 
 

We got to the facility a bit early. A security officer asked if we had any firearms, knives, pepper spray, or other weapons. We did not. We were told to head in and went through quick airport style security. 
 

Inside, we stopped at the desk where they took my NOA for the interview. The agent wrote a number on it and handed me another print out number. The little tag was for Biometrics. The number written on the letter was the actual interview number. 
 

We went to sit down. It’s a pretty typical government building with airport style seating.  We were barely there a minute before I got called to do my fingerprints and take a photo. Interestingly, the gentleman completing this had actually been to my home province! Anyway, that only took a minute. 
 

I sat back down with hubs and waited. There were lots of families, so I suspect there were a number of combo interviews happening with big smiles on people’s faces as they came back out. Others had lawyers with them. I waited about 20 minutes and was called to door 1. 
 

My interviewer met me and lead me down a hall of offices. He was a bit of an interesting man and apparently a former immigration attorney. Anyway, it was actually challenging to hear him because he had a mask and gloves on and there was a Perspex barrier between us. He asked for my green card, passport and driver’s license. He didn’t ask to see any of my other documentation even though I offered it. He told me not to worry about it. He knew my husband was a naturalized citizen, so clearly everything had been verified (we did front load the petition). He asked me the half a dozen civics questions, asked me to read a simple sentence and write “Thanksgiving is in November.” He asked why I wanted to become a U.S. citizen because I barely met the 3 year requirement. We had a discussion about the N-600 for the kids and then he checked a couple of boxes on a paper, handed it to me and said he was recommending me for my oath ceremony. He then escorted me back to the waiting area where I collected hubs and off we went. 
 

Next up: oath ceremony!
