USCIS resources are going to be directed to ICE and such and less on clearing backlogs, but the amouunt of cases are gonna remain the same. Backlog from Biden is gonna carry over to Trump and I751 being so low priority I would not be surprised if they just don't touch the cases for the first 3-4 years and now that I think the actual processing time could get exponential quickly and maybe taking as long as 9-10 years for simple cases. 

at the end of day it does not matter who the admin. The question is will your application gets picked up in the random USCIS adjudication process or not. everything else is just picking

You get wjat you pay for. I have been dealing with USCIS fpr 7 years now. They tried to raise the fees but everybody complained so fees are the same. Seeing that USCIS is self supporting, we are going through worst recession in 50 years and the workload of free services (you dont think the illegals are actually going to pay) and everything has gone up in price so to keep the budget services are way down. Thats my take on all this. iIn 2017 our 485 was 7 months, 2019 our 751 was 10 months and 2020 was our N400 7 months. Good times eh

Actually, at least with the I751, there is a little logic being used by USCIS.  That form has an extremely low rejection rate, is essentially a waste of time, but is also a cash cow for USCIS.  Therefore, in true bureaucratic fashion, this form was deprioritized which is evident by the ever increasing length of the extension letter (keep in mind USCIS, regardless of who is President, does not care about the actual immigrant, they are simply a massive bureaucratic machine).  LPRs getting a 2 yr GC, are now essentially a 6 yr GC holder as long as they fill out the I751, and pay the fee.  Maybe the extension letter will be changed to 96 months at some point in the future.

Correct.  No logic to USCIS in general.  Especially, anything with 751, it is useless.  My point has always been how is this "limiting fraud".  Whomever wants to commit it is going to do it anyways.  Just money to them.

To be fair though, it was the bi-partisan Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 that created the entire "Conditional" LPR status.  So we can thank the Democrats and Republicans in DC for it.  Now I cannot comment on how long it took USCIS to process I751s prior to c. 2016, but I witnessed first hand the start of the current slow down that started in late 2016 right when my wife filed it.  Back then you only got a 12 month extension letter, so about a year later, there were a lot of topics about how to get ADIT stamps.

 

I completely agree, the entire CGC is a joke, anyone wanting to commit fraud to be a US LPR will certainly be willing to work through a 2-3 year marriage.  And yes, it has become a cash cow for USCIS.

I kind of feel like we keep giving more and more money to the USCIS and there are never any better results. Continued slowdowns are predictable with the way things have been going, and it's been like that for ages. Things were slow as heck during Obama, slow with Trump, and still slow now. Sure I still have no idea how our N400 got processed so quickly while people are still waiting at our field office - but I don't think Biden had anything to do with that.

 

Immigrants and their families are nothing but a dollar sign and used for political fodder. No one actually cares to fix anything.

I don't know if we are when you take inflation into account.

 

I believe when I filed I-751 in 2021 the fees were the same.

 

Now see what they should have been if fees were increasing with inflation...

Like some others, my 130-485 during covid and under trump was less than 6 months. I don't think he will slow things, just make the process more selective.

I think asylum seekers would be the largest affected immigrant group if Trump is back.
