Changing address while "Card is being produced"

Hi All,

 

I entered the US on a CR1 on 1st October.  I paid the immigrant fee on 4th September.  We are moving by 8th December and I planned to file AR11 today, however yesterday I got a notification via Lawfully that my card is being produced.  I cannot add the case to my online account as I never received an online activation code.

 

Is it too late to change my address or is it possible the card will arrive in time?  I'm not sure what to do?  We have USPS informed delivery.

90% chance it will go to the old address, imo.  I would make arrangements for someone to pick it up there.  But I would change address.

Wife's didn't require a signature.  That was a few years ago.

If the card is being issued, you'll likely have it in the next week or 2, before you actually move.  They print 'em, envelope 'em, and send 'em quite quickly.

You shouldn't file AR-11 before you move. Only after you move and within 10 days.

 

I received my card on the day of move (which was fun). Nothing worked: USPS Hold Mail, USPS Mail Forwarding, talking to mail man... So expect it at the old address.

Thanks.  Fingers crossed that's what happens.  Does it need to be signed for do you know?

Nope.  Just watch for it in Informed Delivery.

We just got Kid1's new one like 2 weeks ago.  I'd completely forgotten a new card was even being issued.  We had to do the I-90 when said child turned 14 and that was nearly 3 years ago already!  Just popped up in the mail

If it doesn't arrive by December 8, it will probably never arrive. I think you will be fine. Once you have the card in hand, file the AR-11.

Why are you filing a change of address when you haven't even moved yet?

You have 10 days after you move to update the address.

 

You will 100% receive your green card before moving.

I'd say 99%. There's always a margin for error by USCIS or USPS. Agreed though, OP should have GC before December 8th IF Thanksgiving won't delay things too much.
