A scary scene unfolded amidst all the other news on Wednesday after Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell froze up during a presser.  After nearly 30 seconds of silence, he was then led away by his colleagues, not seeming to know where he was.

This is a "human being" thing.  As much as we might despise their policies, pusillanimous behaviors, or whatever, they're still human beings with families who love them.

Fair enough.

 

My point is that he needs to be gone from the Senate, along with Feinstein and anyone else who is visibly no longer able to fully perform the role to which they have been elected.

 

Same applies to Congress and the White House.

 

The people of the United States are ill-served when their representatives have clung to office for longer than their mind and body are capable of sustaining.

 

Mitch McMuddle is just the latest.

I felt quite sad watching it. Alarming that no one immediately took him to the hospital. There are now stories he has been falling repeatedly, and it's clear he hasn't recovered from his prior injury. A lot of people thought it was a TIA, but some do think it's something related to his concussion and signs of worsening brain injury that should be treated immediately.

 

I was reminded of the day my father had an episode and collapsed. He'd go to what I'd call "the far away place". He was childlike, non-responsive to gibberish, lost control of bodily function, frozen in place. Like he was lost in dementia. We thought for sure he was having a stroke again, turns out he was 'lucky'. He was having hypoglycemia. Has absolutely no memory of it. I wonder if Mitch is diabetic. At any rate, he is not well.

There are a lot of folks in DC that are not well, yet they stay.

Any number of things -- medication issue, hypoglycemia, petit mal seizure, TIA -- but the crucial thing is that he needs to be examined with a full workup.
