cr1 CR1 Approved one month before second anniversary

Hi everyone. My husband's CR1 recently got approved. Our second year of marriage will complete next month on the 9th of August. I was wondering that should he delay him coming to the US after the USA after 9th of August so that he gets 10 year greencard rather than 2 and we wont have to go through the hassle of removing conditions for him.

 

One more thing is he travels after the 9th of August and at the port of entry should we tell the immigration officer to stamp him 10 year greencard rather than 2 or they will do it themselves? and Should he carry the original marriage certificate with him?

Absolutely delay travel!   It will save you time and money.

I very, very, very strongly advise him to delay entry until AFTER the 9th of August...by a couple days. You do NOT want to go through removal of conditions.  He can mention it to the CBP officer, but the officer doesn't make the determination between 2 or 10 year card.  If he enters after 2 years of marriage, USCIS will, excluding a mistake, issue a 10 year Green Card regardless of how the CBP officer stamps the passport.

Rationale for my comment above:  My wife's removal of conditions took 44 months for approval.....with NO RFEs!!!!

My removal of conditions was easy, relatively fast, and uneventful.  I would still delay entry.  It is only a month away.  You can take a nice vacation with the fees you won't have to pay.  Your spouse has more time to say goodbye and prepare; you can even check skyscanner, the ITA matrix, or wherever you prefer, for great price of flights after August 9.  A month is nothing!

Yes, allow your husband to enjoy life in his current country and delay his entry so he receives the 10 yr green card. 
when I entered the US and was in secondary I saw CBP convert a CR1 to an IR1. It is a common enough occurrence.

ETA: as long as the visa won’t expire before August 9… not sure when he got his medical..
