Hey guys !

I am currently in USA on B1/B2 visa. I am planning to fly to New Mexico for a few days. My question is: Will I have to go through the same process at the airport as I went through when I arrive in US. I mean will they still ask me the questions and check all the Information about me and all of that or is it just scanning passport and that's it. Do I need to show my return ticket ?

US is one Country.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I suppose some Countries do have internal migration controls, the US is not one of them.

It seems you are Polish, and I know they do not have such controls in Poland. Even the EU does not do that.

Travel within the U.S. is different than traveling to the U.S., yet any time one travels to a border state, the answer is nuanced. And New Mexico is special is several ways.

When does your authorized stay expire?

Any plans to drive on or south of I-10? If so, keep your passport and I-94 on your person. Any time you head north toward I-10, you have a risk of encountering a Border Patrol check point and being questioned. Non citizens are expect to carry proof of authorized presence in this situation.

The airline employees should not ask you those questions as New Mexico is part of the U.S.  However, not all Americans are aware of this ( https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=12512979 ).

Assuming the airline employers know New Mexico is part of the U.S., no.

Yes America has internal border controls as anyone driving to California, flying to Hawaii, and flying from the territories knows. And when REAL ID is implemented, they will really know.

And yes, airlines flying in the Schengen Area ask different questions of non EU citizens  on intra EU flights  than EU citizens.

My authorized stay expires in November. That's the date I have on my I94. I always travel with my passport nad visa and I94. I jusy did not know if I should expect the same control as at the border control.

Thank you for all your answers. I really appreciate it.

Did you book your travels on one ticket or is this a separate ticket to the one you came into the country on?

When I checked in for my flight a few years ago they thought I was flying back home and wanted to check my details... then when they realized this was a little detour it was all good.

New Mexico is a state in the US / no border control unless u hit one of the border stations inside the state set up in high risk areas checking for illegals /like someone says "below I 10"

U will go thru security at airport as we all do but when u get off plane in New Mexico,  u don't go thru customs and immigration /ITS THE USA

However, not all Americans are aware

😅

I have read some staggering statistics about the percentage of Americans who do not know that New Mexico is a US state....   reinforces the old advice "stay in school, kids."
