Hi all,

Just filed N-400 tonight and a few minutes later received Receipt Notice and Biometric Reuse notice. Estimated processing time is currently 10 months.

Looking forward to cross the finish line.

My interview has been scheduled. Exactly one month after filing. Chicago Field Office.

Here’s my timeline:

6/20 - Filed application. Immediate notice received but dated 6/21. Biometrics reused

7/21 - Interview scheduled

9/7 - Interview date

Almost there! Time to prep. Anyone know how soon after interview the oathtaking is scheduled in Chicago? I know they don’t do same day oaths.

What civics questions did they ask you?

Who is the governor of my state.

How old must you be to vote.

Who is the Speaker of the House.

Who signs bills into laws.

Name 3 of the original 13 colonies.

What are the two parts of Congress.

He didn't go further into the full ten because I answered all of them correctly.

Pretty straight file. I don't even have a parking ticket, I have been working all 7 years I have been here. I do "owe" $300 of state taxes and I say "owe" because there was an error on the tax papers and I shouldn't be owing any tax at all, but I have been making payments and brought all that with me. We chatted a bit about that and he agreed that it is ridiculous that they charged me to begin with. I explained I filed an amendment buy until it goes through, I am making payments. He was fine with that and signed off on it.

Had me sign a statement that said I provided proof of payment to him, asked me about my name change and confirmed everything.

Took new picture.

Told me oath ceremony will be in September or October, gave a paper that said I am recommended for citizenship explained to me how to apply for a US passport. Gave me the location of the Oath Ceremony place in my local area and sent me on my way.

We did go over if I was ever arrested, lied, was ever a terrorist or a prostitute or a drug dealer etc (no to all of these), asked me my employer,  I work for the local public schools and I am in College to be a Special Ed teacher.

That was that :)

Just had my interview yesterday in Oklahoma City, OK.
I submitted my application on June 30th, got interview scheduled for August 15th.

The IO was really friendly and nice. We did civics first, writing and reading next. After that we went through the application and basic information like my name, date of birth etc. I signed a few documents and she told me I passed and I should wait 2-4 weeks for ceremony to be scheduled!

What a great experience and journey this has been! Ready to have the ceremony and be done with uscis once for all.

My advice would be to have your spouse ask you the civics questions every day!
Good luck!

Yesterday morning was the appointment for my naturalization interview at the Portland, OR USCIS. The IO was friendly and the interview took about an 1/2 hour. Civics test, reading and writing, and then the review of the N-400 application form. I was approved and then told to come back later in the afternoon for the oath ceremony. Just short of 10 years when I first filed under the K-1 visa, I am now a US Citizen!

It was only 70 days from N-400 Application date to the Oath Ceremony. My original timeline was 16 months and then it adjusted to 9 months with the biometrics reuse note. Technically there was still an 8 month wait at my interview date.

This forum has been so helpful throughout the whole immigration process! Thank you!
