EAD Card Lost in the Mail

Hello. So we are having an issue with receiving my husband's EAD and hoping someone may have some advice. We were thrilled when my husband was recently approved for his EAD card (earlier than expected!) and eagerly awaited it in the mail, following the tracking number. Problem is, the tracking information updated to being 'delivered', but we never received it, despite checking right away after the tracking information updated. We've been in touch with our apartment building and USPS and the card is no where to be found. Best guess is that it was mis-delivered to an incorrect address. We reached out to USCIS and they told us the only thing we can do is to reapply and start over with the I-765. We are now terrified we'll have to wait 8+ more months. Is there anything else we can do????

Give it a week. It'll show up. This has happened before

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Have you signed up for USPS informed delivery? It tells you each day what mail you’re getting, with a picture of the envelope.

I would give it a week- three weeks. If nothing happens, you should request to talk to a tier 2 officer

USPS has had issues here in our building office,

where it states delivered, and we get envelopes later

some items even saying returned to sender and we get them

or missplaced in another box from another office

maybe it didnt have the Apt # and they returned it and hopefully resent with the correct info

did you go to the USPS hub where they distribute to your address?

the tracking number  showed up in my USPS informed delivery so we know it was meant to be sent here.

If you haven't already done so, submit a missing mail search request with USPS -- https://faq.usps.com/s/article/Missing-Mail-The-Basics#Submit_missing_mail_search_request

Also, you may want to check with this VJ member on how they recovered their lost card from USPS --

Update: Thanks for the suggestions everyone. On Saturday, a different postman was there and we spoke with him. He generally seemed much more helpful. He ended up finding the package in the building next door and delivered it to us later that day! (Of note, we had actually checked that building after it was listed as delivered, just in case, and didn’t find it, so it somehow showed up there in the following days). So grateful we don’t need to restart this process! (But really USCIS should have a better solution to things getting lost in the mail).
