I was curious what has changed here under the current admin. I've been reading the travel.state.gov and cdc websites and it appears, at least on the surface, that they are allowing immigrants from any country through the southern border without visa's. It appears, that all you need to present is a passport and proof of vaccination and they'll let anyone in. Can someone verify this or provide more information?

Maybe you're reading about Canadian visitors, not immigrants?  Most Canadians only need to present their Canadian passport and COVID-related documents to enter through any US border, including the border with Mexico.  But the rule about Canadians not needing a visa for visits has not changed recently.  It's been the rule for more than a decade.

 

In any case, to be able to enter the US as a new immigrant (whether from Canada or any other country), an immigrant visa is still required by US law.  For non-immigrant foreigners to lawfully enter and stay in the US, they must still have one of the following --

• visa (fiance/work/student)
• parole document
• refugee travel document
• asylum application

These entry requirements have not changed in years.  The only recent change is a new program to help Ukrainians apply for parole.  People of other nationalities may still apply for parole through the normal process.  Also, no recent significant change to the refugee and asylum processes.

Right, I understand "by law", but our laws are not exactly being followed at the southern border right now. That is what I am trying to figure out.

I already moved your original thread, so removed the duplicate one.  I also clarified what the existing requirements are, since you referenced the travel.state.gov and CDC websites.  But it seems you're not interested in the actual information from the DOS/CDC websites.  You're free to discuss what you feel is "decent" here in the CEHST sub-forum.

Ok... So here is what I am thinking.... Obviously VJ now has lurkers "fact-checking" so-to-speak people's posts. If a post is found to be offensive to those lurkers and admins, even for something ever so small as asking to stick to a topic..... People will get threatened with violating the TOS. In other words, perhaps get banned for something so ridiculous. Why? Because of political correctness run rampant and so many people being extraordinarily sensitive. Let me give you an example of what might be a violation of your TOS, so you can properly frame your incredibly narrow point of view... Perhaps then, with my sacrifice on VJ after so many years... It may help someone else.  

 

Example: You are so self absorbed and selfish that you actually report people for simple thoughts and suggestions. You have no room for debate, you just want to ban ban ban based on your feelings; especially if they are hurt! Well get over it! You misconstrue and twist a comment, then reproduce it to fit your narrative, thoughts and feelings. Example: "Please do not violate the TOS by telling others not to post.". When in reality I said: "...I just want to get input in this regard. No need to even respond since that is not an answer to my question.". In adult language, that means please do not respond unless you're addressing the topic. Not an unreasonable thing. Telling others not to post is a blanket statement, and in this context it is clear that I'd just like answers to the topic, not some fluff response from uppity people who love to cause trouble...  Which is below you right? Because your all lurkers and admins and stuff, so you're all righteous and Holy and do-gooders in your own eyes. In conclusion, have fun banning me, any John or Jane with common sense can tell the difference here. And to be totally honest, there is nothing in this example that merits reporting someone or banning someone unless you are in-fact afraid of free speech.
