Not really sure a Presidential Commission was needed to see the obvious.  In the end, I will wait and see if this actually happens.

Ha.  Seen that one before.  When my wife got her green card 6 months was the processing time, and if you went beyond that they would "expedite" your process with a service request.  We went through that.  It seems that since then things have gone down hill.

 

I have a whole terrible story about our infopass appointment after my wife's card process was over the 6 month mark.  Makes my blood pressure go up even now when I think about it.  Yelling and intimidation by a couple of officers amid at us.  I explained that we were over the 6 month mark and I wanted to know if there was a problem.  First guy laughed and said green cards were taking 2 years.  I told him no (they were not at that time)  He asked me if I knew more about immigration than him.  We were having a discussion, and when he saw me look at his name tag and write his name down, he blew up.  Thank god he was on the other side of the glass partition.  He made a loud announcement to the entire office that "this guy wants a green card right now for his wife".  I told him no, I wanted to know if there was some type of problem.  He walked away and sent someone else over.  I got no real response from the second person.  I asked to speak with the supervisor, and she put in a service request but told me it wouldn't do any good.  In less than two weeks we got a letter for our interview appointment.

That is a great point, when my wife filed her AOS, it took a little more than 5 months.  In fact the only headache for her was the pointless I751, but since she was naturalizing, we simply submitted the I751 with a ton of evidence and forgot about it.  A year later she submitted the N400 and was naturalized in less than 6 months when those that filed for ROC at the same time as her were just getting their 10 yr GCs.

We'll run an experiment at the end of June or start of July at any rate ...

Honestly, except for a weird random two week delay between her K-1 interview in Moscow and shipping her visa to her, all her immigration stuff has been pretty reasonable so far (nothing over average processing time at the service center, embassy, or field office, no place we had to deal with had really slow averages, and we caught a rare window in early 2019 where K-1 interviews in Moscow were being scheduled and actually happening relatively promptly). AOS took 5.5 months in 2019, ROC took 9 months and was a approved last month.

This is the most important -- and hardest -- thing to remember to do when dealing with recalcitrant functionaries or first-level grunts who don't give a poop.
